He was a member of the Beecher Sportsmen's Club, the Bradley Moose, the Momence Antique Car Club-Illinois Region, and the Antique Car Club of America. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Chrystal and Redgie Claus of Manteno, Kathy and Dennis Koehn of Beecher; three grandchildren, Troy (Ann) Claus, Steven (Michelle) Koehn, Kevin (Jenny) Koehn; two great-grandchildren, Chandler Claus and Natalie Koehn; and three sisters-in-law, Elaine Connell, Elaine Schoenwald and Lucille Dierking. One brother, Warren, is deceased.

Alma Gesina Katherina Klemme was born Sept. 7, 1912, in Akron, the daughter of August and Johannah (Lubben) Osterthun. She was raised and educated near Chatsworth. She was united in marriage to Walter H. Klemme on Sept. 23, 1931, in Chatsworth. Alma and Walter farmed east of Akron for many years. Alma was a homemaker for her family. In December of 1965, they retired and moved to Akron. Walter died Jan. 8, 1973. Later, Alma resided at the Ridgewood Apartments in Akron for many years. For the past 6 1/2 years, she has been a resident of the Good Samaritan Village in Le Mars (now Good Samaritan Center-Le Mars). Alma was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron having served many years in the W.E.L.C.A. During her time in Akron, she enjoyed going to the Akron Senior Center. She enjoyed flower gardening, playing cards, and sewing. She loved playing the piano and accordion and listening to music. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her three children: Wendall Klemme and his wife Arlene of Sheldon, Darwyn Klemme and his wife Betty of Sioux City, and Elvira Nielsen and her husband Norman of Le Mars; a sister: Edna Jurgensen of Akron; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; a son: Ronald Klemme; a sister: Nora Tammen; a great-great-granddaughter: Anna Marie Schoen; and two brothers-in-law: John Tammen and Arval Jurgensen. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Akron. The Rev. Jean Morse will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Thursday with the family present after 6 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at Carlsen Funeral Home - Schroeder Chapel in Akron.

Wendall Klemme was born May 14, 1932, in Akron, the son of Walter H. and Alma (Osterthun) Klemme. He attended a country grade school and graduated from Akron High School in 1950. Wendall joined the United States Air Force in February 1952 and was honorably discharged Feb. 29, 1960. He was in active service four years and inactive service four years. He was united in marriage to Arlene Nienke Aug. 16, 1953, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ellsworth, Kan. Wendall spent three months in England and two months in New Foundland on temporary duty while in the Air Force. He worked Civil Service in Wichita, Kan., and Sioux City. He then worked for Moorman Feeds for 37 years and retired in 1995. Wendall and Arlene wintered in Texas for 13 years. He enjoyed golfing and playing pool. Wendall will be remembered as a person who looked for the good in people and loved to laugh and make others laugh. He loved his family very much. He served as Sunday school treasurer on the church council at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron. He served on the church council at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon. He was a member of the American Legion for many years. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Arlene of Sheldon; his children: Cheryl Mydland of Sioux Falls, S.D., Terri Malenke of Sheldon, Mike (Robin) Klemme of Sioux Center; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; one brother: Darwyn (Betty) Klemme of Sioux City; and one sister: Elvira (Norman) Nielsen of Le Mars. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ronald Klemme. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon with the Rev. Ron Nelson officiating. Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Sheldon. The Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Casketbearers were Harold Sterk, Gerald Portz, Elmer Karley, Lenard Koch, Mark Malenke, Gary Malenke, Don Mastbergen and Gordon Pottebaum. Honorary casketbearers were his grandchildren, Staci Kleinhesselink, David Erkes, Kelly Wulf, Travis Klemme ad Taylor Klemme.

Eunice Ann Hillrichs was born Dec. 10, 1936 in Akron, the daughter of Ben and Anna (Tapper) Hillrichs. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston Township, rural Akron. She attended country school and later high school in Akron.

On Feb. 21, 1954, she married Darwyn Klemme and moved to a farm where she enjoyed helping with the field work and gardening. To this union, four children were born: Lynette, LaNay, Greg, and Matthew.

On June 18, 2005, she married Rodney Reoh and continued to make her home in Akron.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron where she served in the Women’s Circle. She was a lifelong resident of Plymouth County.

Through the years, she enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, and playing cards. She also enjoyed sewing, baking, and cooking.

She and Rod enjoyed wintering in Arizona for several years.

But most of all, she loved the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Rodney Reoh of Akron; her four children: Lynette (Howard) Altena of Doon, LaNay (Steve) Welch of Akron, Greg (Paulette) Klemme of Akron, and Matthew (Lori) Klemme of Sergeant Bluff; a stepson: Lee Reoh of Omaha, Nebraska; 11 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a great-granddaughter, Anna Marie Schoen.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., today (Monday) at Trinity Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Akron. Pastor Susan Juilfs will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present was from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, with a prayer service at 5 p.m., all at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Monday at the church.

Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel-Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 1, 2021, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron on Thursday, September 30 and will continue one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Arrangements are with Rexwinkel Funeral Home of Akron.
Berniece Alberta Emily Meske was born on September 26, 1924, in rural Akron, Iowa, to Alfred and Anna (Kleihauer) Meske. She was raised on their family farm and attended a local country school. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron. Berniece worked alongside her family on their farm. On August 21, 1955, she was united in marriage to Elmer Jurgensen at Trinity Lutheran Church. They made their home on a farm in rural Akron. Berniece raised their two children: Rodney and Valerie and worked on the farm with Elmer. Elmer passed away on August 16, 2001.
Berniece was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron where she was a member of the ladies’ circle and helped sew quilts. She loved watching game shows, doing word searches, and playing cards. She will be remembered as a wonderful cook! She loved spending time with her grandsons.
Berniece is survived by her children: Rodney Jurgensen of Akron and Valerie (David) Appley of Akron; grandsons: Trevor (Melissa) Appley of Akron and Evan Appley (special friend, Stephanie) of Sioux Falls; nieces and nephews: Arlen (Linda) Nannen of Le Mars, Marlys (Randy) Johnson of Akron, Ken Frerichs of Akron, Cheryl (Larry) Plueger of Merrill, IA, Bruce (Pam) Jurgensen of Alcester, SD, Roxanne (Blake) Larson of Akron, and Philip (Kim) Jurgensen of North Carolina; niece in law, Vicky Jurgensen; and other extended relatives.
Berniece is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Anna (Kleihauer) Meske; parents in law, Charles and Emma (Klemme) Jurgensen; husband, Elmer; brother, Marvin Meske; sister, Leanna (Vernon) Jurgsensen; and nephew, Larry Jurgensen.

Leanna Norma Meske was born on February 11, 1929 to Alfred and Anna (Kleihauer) Meske in Portland Township, rural Plymouth County, Iowa. She graduated as valedictorian from Akron High School in 1947 and then attended State Teachers College in Madison, South Dakota. She taught 5th – 8th grade at Richland, South Dakota for one year before being married to Vernon Jurgensen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron on May 30, 1948.

Leanna worked alongside Vernon on their family farm east of Akron; they had dairy cattle for many years. Leanna raised many chickens: selling eggs and chickens for butcher; and she also had a large vegetable garden. Leanna was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron; she was very active in the women’s group and sang in the choir with Vernon for over 50 years. Leanna also enjoyed sewing and completing jigsaw puzzles. Leanna and Vernon moved to the Akron Care Center in August 2017. Vernon passed away in May 2018 after nearly 70 years of marriage.

Leanna is survived by her children: Cheryl (Larry) Plueger of Merrill, Bruce (Pam) Jurgensen of Alcester, South Dakota, Roxanne (Blake) Larson of Akron, and Philip (Kim) Jurgensen of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina; daughter in law, Vicky Jurgensen of Akron; grandchildren: Joshua (Rebecca) Plueger, Jamie (Amy Willms) Jurgensen, Joel (Sarah) Plueger, Janel (Carl) Miller, Devin (Chris) Royalty, Matthew (Julie) Jurgensen, John Plueger, Amanda (Charlie) Mohning, Michael Jurgensen, Luke Jurgensen, Lerin Jurgensen, Andrew (Deb) Jurgensen, David Larson, and Jordan (Kayla) Jurgensen; many great grandchildren, step great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sister, Berniece Jurgensen of Akron; nieces and nephews: Arlen Nannen, Marlys Johnson, Kenneth Frerichs, Rodney Jurgensen, and Valerie Appley; and other extended relatives.

Robert D. "Bob" Jurgenson was born Oct. 18, 1930, near Akron, the son of William and Laura (Klemme) Jurgenson. Bob grew up on a farm near Akron, and graduated from Akron High School in 1948.

On June 26, 1953, he married Beverly Varenhorst at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Merrill. Bob worked for IPS (now MidAmerican Energy) from 1951 until his retirement in 1986. After he retired, he worked for the Indian Hills Shopping Center and Indian Hills True Value.

He was a longtime member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Sioux City and was very active in the church. He was past president of the Leeds Commercial Club and was also active in the Leeds Community Club.

Bob was a wonderful father and grandfather and enjoyed attending his children's and grandchildren's activities and sporting events. He was a friend of Bill W. for the past 27 years.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly of Sioux City; one son, Michael Jurgenson and his wife Sandy of Escanaba, Mich; two daughter, Peggy Jo Porter and her husband Rod of Sioux City and Polly Jo Poe and her husband Pat of Sioux City; two sisters, Bernice Grosenheider of Le Mars and LaVonne Baack of Le Mars; seven grandchildren: Tobi Jo Anderson, Robert Anderson, John Jurgenson, Sara Johnson and her husband, John, Kelly Jurgenson, Kelsie Jo Poe and P.J. Poe; eight step-grandchildren, Daniel, Joseph and Sarah Porter, Molly, Kayce, Nick, Haley and Alex; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins, and his dog Benji.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Norman; three sisters, Leona, Marlene and Shirley; three brothers-in-law, Freddie, Don and Lloyd; and one sister-in-law, Ruth.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. today (Monday) at Calvary Lutheran Church in Sioux City with the Rev. David Schoop officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation was from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Pallbearers were his grandchildren.

A memorial has been established in Bob's name.

Mrs. Johnson was a home-maker. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening.

Survivors include her husband; three sons and their wives, Rick and Shawn of Dallas, Texas, Jeffrey and Sally of Boulder, and Brent and Elizabeth in Texas, where he is serving in the U.S. Army; four granddaughters; four sisters, Bernice Grosenheider of rural Le Mars, Iowa, Leona Hartman of Richmond, Calif., LaVonne Baack of Le Mars, and Marlene Eichacker of Arvada, Colo; one brother, Robert Jurgenson of Sioux City; one sister-in-law, Ruth Jurgenson of Le Mars; and many nieces and nephews.

Linda W. Schmidt was born March 15, 1911, near Akron, Iowa, to Herman and Lydia (Klemme) Schmidt. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Craig. She graduated from Ireton (Iowa) High School in 1931.

She was united in marriage to Ralph Rossum on June 2, 1937, in Chicago Heights, Ill. After World War II, the couple moved to Craig and established a radio repair, appliance and ice cream shop for several years. The couple sold the business and moved to Sioux City, where he managed a radio repair shop. He volunteered for a year during the Korean conflict and, following his discharge, the family moved to Baltimore, Md. After a period of time, the family relocated to Barstow, Calif.

They lived in Barstow for eight years. While in California, she was active in organizing Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran Church. She also was an officer and member of Barstow Women's Club and the Bendix Wives Club. She enjoyed making different crafts and bowling on league teams.

In 1967, the family relocated back to Baltimore. In 1975, the family moved to Florida, where he worked on government projects involving the space program. The couple had many opportunities for travel with Ralph's career. At one point, they lived temporarily in Argentina, South America.

The couple retired in 1977 and made their home on Merritt Island, Fla., where they were active at Faith Lutheran Church and entertained many out-of-state guests. They also loved to travel and made many trips in their motor home from coast to coast and Canada. They returned to Le Mars in the early 1990s, and reestablished their ties as members of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig. Linda loved to keep in touch with the people they met throughout the years, including childhood and Army friends.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Janet and Wayne Lages of Baltimore; three sisters-in-law, Loraine Schmidt of Sioux Falls, S.D., Marian Schmidt of Le Mars, and Mary Rossum of Chicago, Ill; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph on July 18, 2002; and two brothers, Clarence and Leonard Schmidt.
