Delmer was born to Reinhold and Hilda (Schenkel) Diede on December 8, 1933, in Yankton County. He was baptized and confirmed at Martinus Lutheran Church where he was a life long member. He was an elder in the church. On November 12, 1951, he married Ferne Haberer at Martinus Lutheran Church. They farmed east of Lesterville for 24 years and moved into Lesterville in 1975. He worked for B-Y Water for 10 years. He started a used car business in Canistota and retired in 1998. He enjoyed playing cards, gardening, traveling and fishing.

He is survived by his wife Ferne of Lesterville; one son Allen (Donna) of Canistota; one daughter Cynthia (Don) Schenkel of Canistota; one sister Marge (Ron) Crosley of Yankton; two brothers Alvin (Shirley) of Lesterville and Dale (Brigetta) of Mission Hill; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Norman was born January 4, 1909, the fourth of thirteen childred to Norman C. and Hattie (Hedwig Rose Hasker) List. He attended country and Yankton High School. He married Alta Charlotte Schenkel on August 23, 1932 at Martinus Lutheran Church. Six children were born to Norman and Alta. Together they farmed near Utica, SD where Norman was involved in and held many offices of the Lesterville Fire Department, served on the school board of Hillcrest country school. His faith played an important role in his life. He served in the many offices of Martinus Lutheran Church of which he was a lifelong member.
Norman was an enthusiastic sportsman, loving all sports especially baseball and played on both the Utica and Lesterville teams. He was known to family and friends as a New York Yankees fan and could tell anyone willing to listen of many, many big league baseball games and players as well as local baseball games. If you were to ask him how many home runs did you make, his face would light up, he would break into a wide grin and answer "a lot of them".
Norman enjoyed family and friends and playing pinocle. He was an honest man who worked hard , played hard and was loved by all. He is survived by his sons Roger(Gladys) of Utica, Steve of Menno, and daughter Norma Ann (Stanley) Cap of Yankton, eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, three great,great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Two sisters, Hattie Mueller and Margaret King. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alta on August 19, 1984, three sons, Vernon, David and a baby boy, eight brothers and two sisters.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Martinus Cemetary Association or the Martinus Lutheran Church building fund at 43804 300 th Street; Utica, SD 57067.
