He was born April 28, 1920, in Plain to John and Lillian (nee Liegel) Brickl. Ed received his formal education at St. Luke's Catholic School in Plain, after which time he worked for his father on the family farm. In 1940 Ed was stricken with polio, which left him physically challenged without the use of his right arm. He then studied bookkeeping at Oshkosh and Madison Area Technical Colleges.
He married Rose Stoltz on September 5, 1944, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Keysville.
Ed worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a bookkeeper at Badger Ordinance in Baraboo until it closed. He then worked as a bookkeeper for an auto dealership and then as a life insurance representative for the Knights of Columbus. In 1966, Ed, a born salesman, found his true calling when he accepted a sales position for a building construction company in Richland Center, where he thrived. He was approached by Oxford Structures and was hired to set up dealerships and train dealers in the tri-state area of Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa. In 1969 he and his family moved to Onalaska to centralize himself in the area he served. Ed was instrumental in encouraging three of his sons to take a building dealership in 1970 and start a construction company known today as Brickl Brothers. In 1973 he came to work with Brickl Brothers as a building sales representative until his retirement in 1982.
In retirement he bowled, played golf and played various card games on and off the computer with family, friends and neighbors. He was an avid sports fan but most enjoyed his grandchildren, step grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ed was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church since 1969 where he sang for many years in the choir. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1953He is survived by his wife, Rose of Onalaska; children, Karl (Mary) Brickl of Onalaska, Jim (Marilyn Franzini) Brickl of West Salem, Stan (Lisa) Brickl of West Salem, Lynda (Paul Voelker) Templen of Milwaukee, Gene (Betty) Brickl of Lacy, Wash., Janet (Mike) Van Oss of Green Bay, Mary (Doug) Anderson of Big Bend, Ed Brickl, Jr. of La Crosse, Mark (Majda) Brickl of Winona and Carolyn (George) Riley of Oakdale, Minn; numerous grandchildren, step grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry Brickl of Spring Hill, Fla. and John (Ginny) Brickl, Jr. of Mauston; three sisters, Caroline Ederer of Plain, Margaret (Hubert) Mundth of Reedsburg and Marcella (Wayne) Faber of Richland Center; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by one son, Michael; his parents; three brothers, Donald, Carly and Ralph; sister, Elsie Alt; two brothers-in-law, Edward Alt and Alfred Ederer; and one sister-in-law, Marie Brickl.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Onalaska with Rev. Patrick Umberger officiating. Entombment will be in St. Francis of Assisi Mausoleum, Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of Onalaska on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. A Rosary will be recited Friday evening at 7:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the St. Patrick's Catholic Church Building fund.

She was born April 18, 1923, the daughter of John and Lillian (Liegel) Brickl. She was married to Alfred A. Ederer on February 11, 1942.

Devoted to her faith and her family, Caroline gave deeply to those she loved, whether through a meal to fill your belly or a prayer to fill your soul. She modeled for her family a love of God, music, gardening, baking, quilting and knitting…and a bit of mischief. Her kitchen was often filled with boisterous games of sheepshead or euchre with homemade wine and brandy slush. A skilled baker with a self-deprecating manner, she would often serve her desserts with the disclaimer that they “weren’t very good,” but your stomach always knew better—they’d be the best thing you’d eat all week.

She gained great joy from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and time with them was never spent idly. She would often take them berry-picking, up to clean the shrine on St. Anne’s Hill, or sit them down for a religion class, game, or a song at her piano. Her grandchildren remember most fondly her love of card games and the consequences to losing those games--dolling out the funniest and most creative punishments to whichever unfortunate grandchild lost the latest game of pig.

Caroline is survived by her five sons, Don (Jan) Ederer of Plain, Carl (Diane) Ederer of Plain, John (Donna) Ederer of Prairie du Sac, Fred (Patsy) Ederer of Prairie du Sac and Robert (Lori) Ederer of Plain; 24 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. Caroline is further survived by two brothers, Jerry Brickl of Hillsboro and John (Ginny) Brickl of Mauston, in addition to two sister-in-laws, Rose Brickl of Onalaska and Kathleen (Jerry) Meise of Plain and many nieces and nephews. Caroline was preceded in death by her husband Alfred, her parents, three brothers Ed, Ralph and Carly Brickl; three sisters, Elsie Alt, Margaret Mundth and Marcella Faber; granddaughter Teresa Ederer and daughter-in-law Rosie Ederer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 3, 2020, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain, Wisconsin. Father John Silva will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2020 from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. at the Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home in Spring Green and again on Monday, February 3, 2020 at the church from 9:30 to 10:45.

She also enjoyed baking and canning, foraging for nuts and berries, hiking, reading, and traveling. Survivors include six children: Dan (Kathy) Mundth, David Mundth, Larry (Bridget) Mundth, Carl (Rose) Mundth, Joann (Don) Douglas, and Connie; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers: Jerry and John (Ginny) Brickl; sisters: Caroline Ederer and Marcella Faber and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert, her son, Allen, her brothers Ed, Ralph, and Carl, and her sister Elsie Alt. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Reedsburg, on Saturday, October 14, 2017 with Father David Carrano officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Reedsburg. The family will receive friends and relatives from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 13th at the Hoof Funeral Home, Reedsburg, with a scripture service at 3:30 p.m. There will also be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart School Endowment Fund or the Communication Arts and Learning (CAL) Center in Reedsburg. The Hoof Funeral Home is serving the family.

Over the years, Marci enjoyed a variety of activities. She and Wayne loved dancing together and visited many dance halls. It was common to see Marci driving the tractor, sitting at her sewing machine, working in the kitchen, and planting her garden. She found time to make gifts for each family member every year for Christmas and other special occasions. In recent years, Marci became a “Techno Grandma” as she spent much time using her computer, iPad, and iPhone, even creating her own greeting cards. Faith was an integral part of her daily life. Marci was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richland Center. On February 24th, 1941 Dorothy was united in marriage to Cyril Heiser and together they lived and continued to work her family farm on Irish Valley Rd for over 50 years. She was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain and the National Council of Catholic Women. Survivors include: her 8 children, Cyril Heiser Jr. and Marge, Kenneth Heiser and Betty, Keith (Judy) Heiser, Anna Mae (David) Leikness, Karl Heiser, Linda (William) Kulow, Sandi Norland, Laurie Heiser, 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, a brother Leon (Betty) Brickl, a sister, Ellen Jerrett, sisters-in-law, Marilyn Brickl, Myrna Heiser, Rita Sherrer. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Duane & Richard Brickl, sister, Rita Friede, a son-in-law Phillip Norland, and other loving family and friends. Dorothy Ann was a whirlwind of energy raising 8 children, partnering with her husband to run and manage the family farm, but still had time to spoil and appreciate her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Like her grandfather Simon Brickl, Dorothy Ann enjoyed spending time creating beautiful things. She was a wizard with a needle and thread and made beloved quilts and blankets for all of her children and grandchildren. She also made jewelry, flower arrangements, and tried new artistic ideas as they occurred to her.Dorothy Ann was well-known for her cooking especially her Thanksgiving stuffing, meatballs, and Easter Bunny cake. She hosted many family gatherings on the farm and at the lake house. She appreciated music and practiced the piano, guitar and accordion. She was an avid reader of current events and a diligent letter writer. She always loved her giant vegetable garden and had a beautiful display of flowers. She will be greatly missed by her family. He was born on January 28, 1918 in Plain, Wisconsin, the son of Joseph and Rosanna (Meixelsperger) Brickl. He was married to Dorothy Feiner on November 15, 1938. Mr. Brickl graduated from the University of Wisconsin Dairy School and was a licensed cheesemaker for many years.
Community, church and family involvement were always a big part of his life. In earlier years he was active in Little League and Boy Scouts. At that time, Mark owned and operated the Platteville Lumber Co. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed peacock bass fishing on the Amazon River in Peru. He was also a big game hunter, most recently shooting a bull elk in New Mexico in the fall of 1997.
Throughout his career, he served as president of the Dickeyville Telephone Co; Shady Homes, Inc; and One-Hour Dry Cleaners in Platteville, Prairie du Chien, La Crosse and Onalaska. Mark was active in many organizations, including the Dickeyville Village Board; Holy Ghost Parish Council; Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus; American Trapshooting Assoc; S.W. Businessmen's Assoc; Modern Woodmen of America; Wings Over Wisconsin; Ducks Unlimited; and Wisconsin Conservation Club.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy of Dickeyville; four daughters, Phyllis (Richard) Miletto of La Crosse, Carole (Jerome) Vaassen of East Dubuque, Ill., Alice (James) Timmerman of Eldridge, Iowa, and Betty (Tom) Kerkenbush of Platteville; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Rev. Joseph Brickl of Middleton, Al Brickl of Sauk City, and Francis (Irene) Brickl of Spring Green; and five sisters, Mary (John) Hetzel of Plain, Rose Dischler of Plain, Cecelia Mason of Reedsburg, Theresa (George) Wilson of Platteville, and Agnes Long of Menasha.

Dorothy was born Sept. 11, 1920, in Spring Green, Wis., to Frank and Amelia (Gruber) Feiner. She was the oldest of 12 siblings. Dorothy was raised on the family farm in rural Spring Green, was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church, and attended a one-room school house down the gravel road from her family farm.

Dorothy and Mark Brickl were married in November 1939, and raised a family of five girls and one boy. Throughout their life together they ran their business endeavors.

Most importantly, Dorothy was a strong, loving and independent woman. Her legacy includes her own personal autobiography written in 2003 and gifted to her children for Mother’s Day that same year. Dorothy and Mark funded the first kindergarten at Holy Ghost School in Dickeyville. She was an avid reader and established the current state of the art Brickl Memorial Library in Dickeyville.

Dorothy loved to sew and enjoyed making hundreds of quilted mission blankets. Gardening was Dorothy’s passion. She had a lovely garden, not only at home but also at the grotto. She donated hundred’s of plants to the Holy Ghost Church sales. Her friends lovingly called her “the plant lady.”

Dorothy was a world traveler on the continents of Africa, North and South America, Europe and Australia. Many trips consisted of high adventure, including peacock bass fishing on the Amazon River in Peru and an African safari in Kenya.

She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Miletto, of La Crosse, Carole Vaassen, of East Dubuque, Ill., Alice (James) Timmerman, of Eldridge, Iowa, and Betty (Tom) Kerkenbush, of Platteville, Wis; three sisters, Sister Pauline Feiner S.D.S., Geraldine Frank and Virginia Altenbach; two brothers, Valentine Feiner and Delmar Feiner; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark, in 1998; a son, Robert, in 1997; and a daughter, Charlene Gabriel, in 1982; a grandson, Gary Timmerman in 1984; and two sons-in-law, Richard Miletto in 2013 and Jerome Vaassen in 2013.

Rose was born in Franklin Township near Plain, in Sauk County, April 18, 1913, the third of twelve children born to Joseph W. Brickl and Rosanna (Meixelsperger) Brickl. Rose was the granddaughter of Alois Brickl and Justina (Bindl) Brickl, and John Meixelsperger and Margaret (Hutter) Meixelsperger. Rose attended grade school and high school at St. Luke School in Plain. On June 20, 1934, Rose married Gerhard Patrick Dischler, son of John B. Dischler and Mary K. (Brickl) Dischler at St. Luke Church in Plain. They spent their entire life together in the Plain area. Gerhard died Nov. 19, 1991. Approximately seven years after Gerhard's death, Rose suffered a debilitating stroke on Aug. 13, 1998, at which time she was moved to Maplewood in Sauk City where she lived until the time of her death.

Rose is survived by nine children, Sister Rose Marie Dischler of Racine, Arlene Hensen of Oconomowoc, Ralph (Cheryl) of Zionsville, Indiana, Francis (LaReta) of Reedsburg, Father Raymond of Poynette/Rio, Gary of Middleton, Ruth Ann Corrao of Prairie du Sac, Alan (Lauri) of Plain, Steven (Julia) of St. Charles, Illinois; a friend of the family, Ronald Eith of Madison; and 17 grandchildren, Michele (Visgar) Lohr, Howard Hensen, Phyllis (Hensen) Fritchen, Laurie (Dischler) Aspenson, Douglas Dischler, Penelope Hensen, Scott Dischler, Gregory Dischler, Phoebe (Hensen) Vitharana, Jeffrey Dischler, Beth (Dischler) Schriner, Priscilla (Hensen) Amador, Erin Dischler, Jason Corrao, Kristen (Dischler) Brunson, Megan Dischler, Emma Dischler; and 15 great grandchildren. Rose was also preceded in death by in-laws John Hetzel, Evelyn (Fingerhut) Brickl, Harold Ruhland, George Wilson, Irene (Martin) Brickl, John Long, Ann (Dischler) and Arthur Servais, Michael and Lorraine (Thering) Dischler, Joseph "Sep" Weiss, Wilbert Mueller, Anthony "Pat" Dischler, Paul Dischler, John F. Dischler, and a son-in-law Daniel Hensen. In addition to her family, Rose enjoyed singing, playing piano, playing button accordion, playing harmonica, dancing, sewing and making clothes for family, cooking, gardening, and birding. Rose loved people and life in general. She was an artist who strove for perfection in everything she did. She was the first president of Meadow View Homemaker's Club when it was organized in 1949. She enjoyed entering garden produce and baked goods in the Sauk County Fair in Baraboo and three consecutive years won the King Midas Award for bread. She and Gerhard grew organic produce and sold it at the Madison Farmers' Market. In addition to her family and extended family, Rose knew many people in Sauk, Columbia, Dane, Juneau, and Richland Counties through the door to door sale of greeting cards and clothing. A Funeral Mass for Rose will be concelebrated in St. Luke Church, Plain on Saturday, 7 February 2009 at 11 A.M. with visitation in the church beforehand beginning at 9 A.M. Private burial will be in St. Luke Cemetery, Plain. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Luke School or Wisconsin Society for Ornithology. Cecilia grew up on a farm and spent much of her adult life working and raising her family on a farm, always a farmer at heart long after leaving. Cecilia was preceded in death by her parents; and nine of her siblings, Father Joseph Brickl, Mary Hetzel, Rose Dischler, Alois Brickl, Mark Brickl, an infant brother, Vincent, Rita Hasburgh, Francis Brickl, and Lawrence Brickl; also a granddaughter, Gina Bauer. She is survived by her children, Helen Bauer, James Ruhland, David Ruhland, Marian (Dean) Burmester and Karen (Gene) Beth; two sisters, Theresa Wilson of Platteville; and Agnes Long of Menasha; two granddaughters, Laura (Chris) Dillman and Jean Ruhland; and a grandson, James Ruhland. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Reedsburg. No visitations are scheduled. A small graveside gathering may be scheduled at a later date for the immediate family.

Private family services will be held at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Platteville.

Theresa was born on December 22, 1925, daughter of Joseph and Rosanna (Meixelsperger) Brickl. She was united in marriage to George Wilson on March 4, 1946. He preceded her in death on March 3, 2008, one day prior to celebrating their 62nd wedding anniversary. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with family. No space was ever too small to have all 53 family members together and she was always ready for a good card game. She was a self-taught seamstress, most recently sewing hundreds of face masks for family and friends.

Theresa is survived by four daughters, Marilyn (Terry) Monahan, Maxine (Steve) Lane, Eileen (Gary) Engelke, all of Platteville; and Pam (Tim) Farnham, of Wichita, KS; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Theresa was one of thirteen children and is survived by one sister, Agnes (John) Long of Menasha; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her husband, George; eleven siblings; and one granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Lois, his parents, 3 brothers, Vincent, Bernard and Leonard Meixelsperger and a sister, Marcella Meixelsperger. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain. Fr. Mike Resop will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass. A luncheon will follow at the Plain American Legion. Millie was born May 30, 1926 in Plain, Sauk County, the daughter of John “Jack” & Hilda (Ederer) Meixelsperger. Millie’s mother preceded her in death in 1935, leaving behind her father, Millie, and her two younger brothers and a sister. When Millie was 16 years old, her father married Celia Alt, and the family remained at the Meixelsperger homestead.

Upon graduation from St. Luke High School, Millie worked at the Badger Army Ammunition Plant (Badger Ordinance Works) near Baraboo, WI. She was united in marriage to Felix Ring on June 3, 1947 at St. Luke Church, Plain.

Millie was a devoted wife and homemaker who enjoyed raising her seven children and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also worked at the Peoples Community Bank in Plain and volunteered for the reading program at St. Luke School where she enjoyed interaction with her co-workers and the students.

Millie is survived by her husband, Felix, and her children, Kathleen (Marv) Ruhland, Gloria (John) Pletzer, Ramona (Dan) Druckrey, William (Sharon) Ring, Polly (Rich Sanning) Ring, Robert, and Mary (Len) Shelton, 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, her sister, Alice Roessler, sisters-in-law, Pearl Meixelsperger, Carol Meixelsperger, Lory (William) Terbilcox, brothers, Dave (Darlene) Meixelsperger and John (Josie) Meixelsperger, along with many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother, brothers Richard, Ralph, and Robert, several sisters and brothers in law.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church, Plain, Wisconsin. Father John Silva will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

He was preceded in death by a son, Marty, in 1986; parents; stepmother; and two brothers, Ralph and Bob.
