Birth10 September 1914Agnes Soeldner was born on 10 September 1914 at Wisconsin.
She was the daughter of Joseph Soeldner and Kathryn Roth.
Marriage21 January 1942Agnes Soeldner married Ralph E. Olson, son of (?) Olson, on 21 January 1942.
Death8 July 2005Agnes Soeldner died on 8 July 2005 at age 90 Agnes B. Olson passed into the arms of her savior, surrounded by her loving family, as she lived, with strength and dignity on Friday, July 8, 2005. Agnes was born Sept. 10, 1914, the 12th child of Joseph and Kathryn (Roth) Soeldner. Agnes grew up on Soeldner Road in Wilson Creek, where she loved the family horses and preferred the outdoors to inside chores. Agnes graduated from St. Luke's Catholic School in 1929. She was united in marriage to Ralph E. Olson, Jan. 21, 1942, at St. John's Evangelist Catholic Church in Spring Green. Agnes was a nurturer at heart. She was the caregiver to her parents and mother-in-law in their later years and she raised her children alone at the untimely death of her husband in 1959. Her deep and abiding faith sustained her. She patiently devoted herself to her children and grandchildren. She worked late into the night doing laundry for others and caring for many village children during the day, 100 at her last count! Children gathered around her kitchen table for homemade raised donuts, fresh baked bread or graham crackers and milk. Agnes continued to garden into her late 80's and produced a lush bounty of vegetables and dill, shared by friends and neighbors. Agnes was an honorary member of Mother of Perpetual Help Circle and St. John's Church. Her voice will be fondly remembered leading the Rosary during morning prayer and for three decades, reverently laundering the Communion purifiers. She was an honorary auxiliary member of the American Legion Post 253 in Spring Green. We are grateful for the gift of Agnes as our mother and grandmother and for her sensitivity to children and a zest for life that brought joy to so many. The sparkle in her eye and her great sense of humor brightened each day. Survivors include her six children, Kathleen (Duane) Sprecher of Spring Green, Ann (Craig) Jackson of Bellevue, Wash., Donald (Diane) Olson of Monroe, Sandra (William) Prem, Duane (Vicki) Olson and Dennis (Charlotte) Olson of Spring Green; 18 devoted grandchildren, Brian (Kristine) Sprecher of Blanchardville, Theresa (Joe) Stapleton of Spring Green, Mark (Donna) Sprecher of Sun Prairie, Shelia Jackson of Federal Way, Wash., Melanie (Joe) Hommrich of Maple Valley, Wash., David Jackson of Renton, Wash., Kelly (Tom) Churchill of Sun Prairie, Bill (Sarah) Prem of Minneapolis, Minn., Terry Prem and Marty (Michelle) Prem of Spring Green, Tiffany Olson of Madison, Heather (Rodney) Patterson of Denton, Texas, Crystal Olson of Minneapolis, Minn., Luke Olson, Kellie Olson of Spring Green, Jeremy Olson of New Glarus, Michael (Melanie) Olson of Spring Green and Daniel Olson of Madison. Agnes is further survived by 16 great-grandchildren, Francis Sprecher, Justin and Lindsey Stapleton, Calli, Christie and Cory Sprecher, Brendan and Evan Schimpf, Nathan and Aidan Hommrich, Ethan and Averie Churchill, Gavyn and Paige Prem and Garrett and Jasmine Olson; brother, George Soeldner of Plain; a brother-in-law, Donald (Anita) Olson of Cottage Grove; and many nieces, nephews and long time friends. Agnes was preceded in death by husband, Ralph, Aug. 10, 1959; a grandson, Tony J. Sprecher, Feb. 21, 1959; sisters, Clara Gruber, Verna Longfield, Adelia Bindl, Catherine Weidenfeld; and brothers, Otto, Adam, Michael, Andrew, Lawrence and Joseph Soeldner. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at ST. JOHN THE EVANGELIST CATHOLIC CHURCH, Spring Green. The Rev. Father Mike Resop will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church in Spring Green. A Rosary service is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2005, at the church. The Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home, Spring Green, is in charge of the arrangements.
