Frankie preceded her in death in 1963. Verna was a bookkeeper for McLellans Dime Store, Montgomery Ward and Northern Propane. She was an active member of First English Church. She was a member of the Rachel Rebekah Lodge where she was past noble grand and also served as recording secretary. She was also a member of the Eagles Auxiliary. A quiet, gentle woman, Verna loved her grandchildren. She also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, dancing and traveling with her family. She is survived by four daughters, Donna (Robert) Brugger of Fennimore, and Norma Shepard, Sandra (Anson) Sheldon and Karen Shepard all of Platteville; seven grandchildren, Brad (Pam) Brugger of Oregon, Bret (Jenel) Brugger of Green Bay, Brian (Becky) Brugger of Verona, Bob (Shelley) Brugger of Plattmouth, Neb., Anthony (Pam) Sheldon of Beaver Dam, Andy (Lori) Sheldon of Trempealeau, and Amy (Jamey) Kite of Livingston; 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, LeRoy Wehnke. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 4, 2004, at FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN CHURCH, Platteville. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Platteville. The Rev. JoAnn Post will officiate. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at the BENDORF FUNERAL HOME, Platteville, or from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Verna Elizabeth Shepard Memorial Fund. The Bendorf Funeral Home is serving the family.

Anson was born on May 1, 1931 at Ipswitch, Lafayette County the son of Harrison and Clara (Riesen) Sheldon. He was married to Sandra Shepard on May 4, 1968 at First English Lutheran Church, Platteville. She preceded him in death on September 22, 2010. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He hauled milk for thirty years working with his brother, Don Sheldon. Anson then worked at Woodward Printing for over twenty years where he did maintenance and later became a press operator. Anson was a member of the VFW Post #5274. He always enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his three children, Anthony Sheldon and their family, Joshua and Allison of Beaver Dam, WI; Andy Sheldon and their family, Cody and Drew of Trempealeau, WI; Amy (Jamey) Kite and their family, Blayne, Grace, Kora, and Faith of Livingston, WI; two sisters, Ruth Dull of Platteville, and Dorothy Busch-Schambow of Livingston; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Harrison, Kenny and Don and sister, Ethleen Sheldon.

Ronald preceded her in death on October 5, 1990. Pat married Michael Gehrke on October 6, 2001. Michael preceded her in death on January 10, 2005. Over the years, Pat worked at Stoughton Hospital, different nursing homes, and retired from WPS after working there for many years. She enjoyed gardening, camping, her dogs, bingo and listening to old time country music; especially Johnny Cash. Pat loved life and enjoyed being around family and friends. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Scott (Pam) Johnson; 2 daughters, Peggy (Joe) Hanson and Bobbi Jo Hammersley; grandchildren, Brian, Heather and Nick Johnson, Jacob Madson, Brandi and Bryce Hanson, and Carson, Kyle and Kailey Hammersley; a sister, Carol Gauger; mother-in-law, Ellen Johnson; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; 2 sisters, Janice Olson and Terry Anderson; and father-in-law, Elwood Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, May 11, 2012 at the Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton with the Rev. Jerry Pribbenow officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of services. Burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery South in Stoughton, followed by a luncheon reception at the Stoughton VFW Hall. Special thanks to Avalon Assisted Living, St. Mary's ICU, and Agrace HospiceCare, Inc.
