He managed to raise six young children on his own because of his determination to keep his family together. He loved being a farmer and was happiest sitting behind the wheel of a tractor in the spring planting the next season's crop or in the fall helping out his neighbors by making stacks. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially loved swapping tall tales with his friends in the Monogramming Department at Land's End. There wasn't a church chicken BBQ he didn't like and he made it to every polka mass within a 100 mile radius of Spring Green. The family would especially like to thank the staff at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie in Sauk City for their outstanding care of Robert in his later years. Death26 January 2023Dolores Rose Hetzel died on 26 January 2023 at age 88 Dolores Rose Liegel, age 88, of Spring Green, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

Dolores was born on September 2, 1934, in Plain, WI, to her parents John and Mary Hetzel. After graduating from St. Luke’s High School, Dolores worked as a secretary for Edward Kraemer and Sons. She married Florian “Duffy” Liegel on October 7, 1953. Together, they raised eight children while farming in Spring Green.

Dolores had many talents. Her passion for sewing and quilting led to employment at Lands’ End, where she worked as a seamstress and made many good friends. She was an avid gardener, and could often be found canning vegetables and jams. Her family members reaped the benefits of her baking skills. You never visited Grandma’s house without seeing a full cookie jar! Dolores enjoyed life, and took part in many card parties where she played a mean game of Euchre or Sheeps Head with a straight face, often pulling out a trump from nowhere. Dolores was an avid Brewer, Packer and UW Sports fan. She enjoyed traveling the country with her husband and friends, as well as giving back to her community by volunteering. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Parish. We will always remember our devoted Mother and Grandmother for the deep love she had for her family, her quiet strength, and conviction to her faith.

Dolores is survived by her children, Craig (Polly) Liegel, Barb (Ralph) Breunig, Carl Liegel, Dave (Lauri) Liegel, Carol (Ed) Patterson, Marty (Jill) Liegel, Lynn (Greg) Prem, and grandchildren, Sam and Max Liegel, Peter Breunig, Dani and Anna Liegel, Haylie (Ben) Sprecher, Shannon (Ethan Komoroske) and Carley Patterson, Karie (Alec) Just, Kelli and Nicole Liegel, Garrett and Isaac Prem, two great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Axel Sprecher, three sisters, Jeanette (Richard) Limmex, Bernie (Vern) Liegel and Julie (Lois) Hetzel, two brothers, Dan (Darcy) Hetzel, Ambrose Hetzel and Sister-in-laws Rhonna Hetzel, Jackie Hetzel and Marcie Liegel, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Hetzel, husband Florian “Duffy” Liegel, son Doug Liegel, brother Larry Hetzel, and numerous extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Spring Green from 10:00 AM-12:30 PM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Fr. Raymond Dischler will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Luncheon to follow.
