He was born on November 22, 1951 in Reedsburg the son of Ray and Carolyn (Wagner) Zobel. He attended and graduated from Reedsburg Webb High School, class of 1970. Gary attended Madison Business College, after which he joined the family business of Ray Zobel and Sons where he was known for being an excellent machine operator. Gary enjoyed going to the Castle Rock Lake house on the weekends and when friends would stop by he said, "it doesn’t get any better than this." He also enjoyed watching westerns and sports, he was a Badger tickets holder. The highlight of each year was the Deer Camp at the shed. Gary was a past member of the Reedsburg Fire Dept. and when he moved to LaValle he was on their department from 1990-2003 having served as Chief from 1992-1998. He will be dearly missed by all his family, his friends and his dog Sadie. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, David Zobel, Mother & Father-in-law; Rex and Bernice Woodruff and Brother-in-law, Delbert Woodruff.
He is survived by his wife, Ann

We honor Gary’s life with a funeral service on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. in St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Reedsburg with Pastor David Glesne officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Farber Funeral Home and again on Saturday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery, Reedsburg.

He was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church. David enjoyed bowling and swimming. He was also an avid Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan. Survivors include two sisters, Judy Williams of LaValle and Carole Neumann of Reedsburg; two brothers, Edward (Dorothy) Zobel of Reedsburg and Gary (Ann) Zobel of Reedsburg; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Reedsburg with Pastor David Glesne officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the church.

He was always proud of his hard work ethic and the long hours that accompanied his various jobs. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. LaVerne will be remembered as a great storyteller. He was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Sharon Owen; one great granddaughter, Holly Piwonski; two sisters, Myrtle Meyer and Bonita Sudfeld; four brothers, Ivan, Willard, Kenneth and Donavan, and his special dog, Bernie.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice; three daughters, Elaine (Vern) Rossing, Deborah (Randy) Goodman and Marcia (Bruce) Karstetter, all of Reedsburg; nine grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; one great great grandson; four brothers, Virgil (Elaine) of Madison; Herschel of Wonewoc; Milton (Blanche) of Madison and Rollin of Baraboo; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 9 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Reedsburg with Pastor Marsha Swenson and Pastor David Glesne officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John Lutheran Church would be appreciated.

He enjoyed and loved his animals, especially his dogs, Pooch and Buster. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Brian Jackson; his brothers and sisters, Muriel Schmidt, Caroline Zobel, Alice Schrank, George Wagner, Edward Wagner and Harold Wagner.
He is survived by his wife, Mercedes of Reedsburg

Jackson of Lyndon Station, Linda Wagner of Cazenovia, Janet (Ray) Wegner of Reedsburg; grandchildren, Diana (Blaine) Wood, Dennis (Michelle) Gardner, Ashley (Joseph) Vaughn; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Caitlyn, Kassie and Emily, Kayla, David and Dylan, Isiah, Zander, and Ava; sister, Betty Mann of Iowa; special friend, Adam Smith; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Brian; her sister, Evelyn; and two brothers, Leonard and Julius.

Funeral services for Mercedes will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2016, at St. John Lutheran Church. Rev. David Glesne will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the church. Burial will follow services at St. John Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established in her name for St. John Lutheran Church or the Wisconsin Heart Fund.

Together, they built a life full of love and cherished memories.

Mickey was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She took great joy in spending time with her family and was always there to support and encourage them in all their endeavors. Her nurturing and selfless nature will be dearly missed by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Mickey spent nearly 26 years working at Flambeau and in her retirement, she had a passion for camping, and fishing while out enjoying the world. In addition to her love for family and her dogs, Mickey enjoyed gardening, and spending time in nature. She had a green thumb and took great pride in her beautiful gardens.

Mickey will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those who knew and loved her. Her kind spirit, loving heart, and warm smile will forever be cherished in their hearts.

She is survived by her daughter Joy (Les) Parrish, sons; Steven (Jessica) Richert, and Daniel (Lisa) Richert, 4 grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren,8 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and one on the way, sister; Bernice Herritz, and sister-in-law Lavern Wagner, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Mickey is preceded in death by her husband Melvin, parents, 3 sisters, 5 brothers, 4 brothers in law, 3 sisters in law, and her daughter Bonnie.

Mickey's legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved husband, Melvin.

Funeral service will be held Friday, April 14, 2023 at 11 A.M. at St John's Lutheran Church in Reedsburg with Pastor Beth Voigt officiating. Interment will follow at St. Patricks’ Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 A.M. until the time of service at the church.
