1872In 1872 T.V. Bishop was born in Hardy county, Virginia, October 21, 1805. His father, Geroge Bishop, was born near Williamsport, Md., in December, 1762. He married Elizabeth A. Sweringin, of Maryland. Soon after their marriage they settled in Virginia. T.V. Bishop left Virginia in November, 1828, and settled on a farm in Licking county, Ohio. He was marriged Oct 29, 1829, to Catharine Stone. They had two children, only one now living. On the 24th of September, 1836, Mr. Bishop landed in Adams county, Illinois, and bought a quarter on section 29, in Melrose township, where he has since resided, engaged in agricultural pursuits. Mrs. Bishop died at their residence in July 1844, since which time Mr. B. has been married three times, and was married to his present wife, Eliza Davis, Nov. 9 1869. He has been a member of the M.E. Church for over thirty years. Politically, he used to be a whig, and voted for Harrison for President. During the war he says he was a Union man; also, that he is an uncopromising republican, and hopes to get an opportunity to vote for Gen. Grant for President in November next. Mr. Bishop is among the old settlers of Adams county, having settled here when the deer and other wild game were in abundance. By hard work and lose attention to business he has succeeded in accumulating considerable property.
