Mr Huls was born February 22, 1882, in Ost Friesland, Germany, and came to the United States and Akron when a child with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Huls and grew to manhood here. He married Mamie Onnen, of Akron. She passed away June 1, 1930. In 1939 he was united in marriage with Anna Kruse.

Mr. Huls was a carpenter, blacksmith and farmer, and for 10 years prior to retiring at the age of 80 he was a caretaker at the Akron Cemetery. He was esteemed by a host of friends for his many fine qualities.

Survivors are the widow; three daughters, Mrs. Dale Vander Kooi of Merrill, Iowa; Mrs. Donald Johnson of Sioux City and Mrs. Fred Andresen of Akron; five sons, Herman and Chris, both of Sioux City; William of Aberdeen, Idaho; Marvin of Moorhead, Minnesota; and John of Lancaster, California; two brothers Ed of Akron and Alex of Shell Lake, Wisconsin; a sister, Mrs. Rena Hein of Madison, South Dakota; 26 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death was one son, Henry, of Westfield and one daughter, Mrs. Byron (Elizabeth) O'Connor of Sioux City.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Trinity Lutheran Church, Reverend Harris Rostager officiating. A quartet, comprised of Mrs. Norman Neilsen, Mrs. Darwyn Klemme, Vernon Jurgensen, and Daryl Siebens, sang. Mrs. Glen Gabel was organist. Casket bearers were Eli Andresen, Ronald Huls, Patrick O'Connor, Robert Huls, Gene Huls, and Jerry Nelson. Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery.

They had 51 years together and were blessed with 5 children. Except for family, nothing gave him more enjoyment then working the land and watching crops grow. He also sold and installed Badger Farm Equipment and Rochester Silos for many years. He was an exceptional hard working man who took great pride in his work and accomplishments on the farm. Even though he had retired he continued to spend countless hours at the farm and in the fields. Another great joy he had was fallowing his brothers band, he enjoyed being part of a large loving family and was proud to be the oldest of ?Ma Johnson?s Kids.?
Albert was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Spring Green, where he continued to be very active in Adult Sunday School. Head Usher and a committee member of Property and Management. His faith was extremely important to him and no matter how busy he was he always made time for Sunday worship. He was a very kind and gentle man who lived out his faith daily always ready and willing to lend a helping hand. Survivors include 5 children, Rick (Barb) Johnson, Jody (Tom) Peck, Gary (Sue) Johnson, Bob (Karen) Johnson and Tim (Kris) Johnson all of Spring Green. 10 Grandchildren Sandra Rohweder, Marcie Bindle, Rhonda Fradette, Becky Peck, Michelle O?Connor, Kurt Peck, Christi Miller, Ryan Johnson, Travis and Colton Johnson. 8 Great-Grandchildren, Natalie, Allison, Hannah, Caleb, Carley, Dylan, Drew and John-Austin. His siblings, Alner Pletzer (Scott Walsh), Alyene Alt, both of Spring Green, John (Margaret Williams) and Jerry (Cathy) both of Arena, Carol (Francis) Nachreiner, Shirley (Wilfert) Nachreiner, both of Plain, Dolores (Ed Vodak) Gruber of Desoto, Dorothy (Bob) Bowell, of Lone Rock, Tom (Lucy) of Token Creek, JoAnn (Howard) Hill, of Naples Fl. and Darlene (Dave) Meixelsperger, of Plain. Also a very loving companion, Donna Gruber of Spring Green and numerous other family and friends. Those preceding him in death, his wife Juan, infant daughter, Deborah, his parents, his wife?s parents, Roy and Stella Radel, brothers-in-law, Leonard Pletzer, Gilbert Alt, Sam Gruber, Lloyd Radel, John Stark, Stanley Schaeffer, a sister-in-law June Johnson, several nieces and nephews. Dad, it is hard to let you go but your work is done here and Mom is anxiously waiting. We love you and will miss you so very much. Your Family.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Christ Lutheran Church in Spring Green. Pastor Douglas Larson-Sell will officiate with burial in the Spring Green Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 1, 2007 at the Christ Lutheran Church from 4:00 P.M.- 7:00 P.M. and Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M. Memorials may be made to the Christ Lutheran Church. The Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
