Patrons of the Palace Bar in Plain remember Alyene behind the bar for over 40 years, remembering you, your family and your favorite cocktail. If she wasn’t bartending, she enjoyed following the Johnson family band or the Plain Hot Shots band, taking road trips, vacationing up north and playing cards with friends and family.
Alyene is survived by her children Gloria (Ardell) Newton, Diane (Robert) Hanson, Terrance (Mary) Alt and Dennis Alt. She was also blessed with six grandchildren, Todd (Barb) Newton, Tanya (Anthony) Neumaier, Ryan (Sara) Hanson, Jeffrey (Cindy Kuzniewicz) Hanson, Stacey (William) Bartosch, Samantha Hopkins and step-granddaughter, Katherine Sarac, 11 great-grandchildren Tiffany and Kimberly Newton, Bradshaw, Emma and Shepard Hanson, Tianna, Andrew, Annika and Alisyn Neumaier, Dakotah and Kadence Bartosch and step-great-granddaughter, Madisyn Sarac. Alyene is further survived by her siblings Alner Pletzer, Carol Nachreiner, Dorothy Bowell, Dolores Gruber, Tom (Luci) Johnson, JoAnn Hill, Darlene (David) Meixelsperger and sister-in-law Irene Vorndran. In addition to her husband, parents and parents-in-law, Alyene was preceded in death by her brothers, Albert Johnson, John Johnson and Jerry Johnson, sisters Mary Ellen Johnson and Shirley Nachreiner, brothers-in-law, Leonard Pletzer, Sam Gruber, Robert Bowell, Howard Hill, Wilfert Nachreiner, Francis Nachreiner, Phillip Alt, Cyril Alt, Alfred Alt, Theodore Alt, Andrew Alt, Norman Vorndran, Jack Meixelsperger and Don Halverson, sisters-in-law, Juan Johnson, Cathy Johnson, June Johnson, Celia Meixelsperger, Bernice Halverson and Caroline Alt. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2020, at 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Spring Green. Fr. John Silva will officiate with burial in the church cemetery, followed by a funeral luncheon at the church. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of Mass at 11:00 A.M.

He served in the United States Army in the Philippines as a prison guard and shop foreman of a Jeep garage. Upon returning home he farmed while helping Albert Johnson and Straka Meats. His life long pleasure was dairy farming and he continued farming with his son and grandson. Francis loved wood working, fishing and spending time with his family. He was the grave digger at St. Luke’s Catholic Cemetery for 23 years. Francis was a member of St. Patrick’s Holy Angel Catholic Church, a longtime member of the Plain American Legion Post #398, a lifetime member of the Arena V.F.W. Post #9336. He faithfully attended Mass until he could no longer drive. Survivors include his wife, Carol Nachreiner, 9 children, Bonnie (Bob) Richardson, Dave Nachreiner, Patty (Mike) Schiferl, Charlene (Steve) Price, Cheryl (Gary) Heck, Cindy (Dan) Brickl, Dale (Ann) Nachreiner, Dan (Julie) Nachreiner, Janeen (Mike) Anderson, 23 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, a sister, Jen Kaun, 7 sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Bertha Nachreiner, an infant daughter, Mary Nachreiner, a son-in-law, Richard Anderson, a sister, Virginia Byrnes, a brother, Wilfert Nachreiner, his father and mother-in-law, Alvin and Alma Johnson, 10 brothers-in-law and 4 sisters-in-law. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:30 A.M. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain with burial in the church cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Plain American Legion Post #398 and the Arena V.F.W. Survivors include his parents - Gerald and Patricia Paulus of Nekoosa; daughter Hannah Nyman of Oregon; 3 sisters Bonni (Russell) Starrett of Madison, Cynthia Salvitti of Stoughton and Marylee (Rory) Kraemer of Cambridge; best friends Bob and Brittney Pick of Portage and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother in law Raymond Salvitti and a nephew Ryan Kraemer.
