Elvira was a member of the Holy Family (Sts Peter and Paul) Catholic Church in Bow Valley, the Altar Society, Christian Mothers, and the Bow Valley Rosary Club. She had great faith in God and a deep love for her family. She loved to garden, raise flowers and crochet. She retained a great knowledge of people and events from the past. Her grandchildren were especially impressed with her zest for life. Elvira is survived by 4 children and their spouses, Emma Lou and David DeBlauw of Rockford, Illinois, Leon and Marilyn Kathol of Yankton, Earl and LuAnn Kathol of Yankton, Alvin and Laurie Kathol of Bow Valley, a daughter in law, Mary Ann Kathol of Yankton, 27 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, a brother, Francis and Irene Wortmann of Hartington, 2 sisters, Theodora and Edgar Wuebben, of Wynot, and Josephine and John Olinger of Sioux Falls, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank, on Dec. 11, 1987, at the age of 80, a son Mark, a sister, Eleanor Pinkelman, 3 brothers, August, Rudolph, and Monsignor Edgar Wortmann.

He was an active board member and manager of the Bohemian Farm Mutual Insurance Company and a member of the Bow Valley, Nebraska Park Association. His most cherished activities included farming and raising livestock, fishing, gardening, playing cards, especially with his monthly card club. He also enjoyed umpiring, attending many years of baseball games and visiting with family and friends.
