She was born on July 11, 1924, in Westford Township, Richland Co. Wisconsin the daughter of Jacob and Clara (Bodendein) Duren. Janice graduated from Cazenovia High School in 1941. She attended Richland County Teacher’s College, graduating in the fall of 1943. She later completed her Bachelor of Science in Education Degree from UW, Platteville. She taught elementary education for more than 60 years, most of which were at St. Anthony’s Catholic School in Germantown. On June 1, 1946, Janice was united in marriage to Bernard F. Braun at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Germantown and have since celebrated 66 wonderful years of marriage. Janice was a lifelong member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, where she was active in the choir as well the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Cazenovia American Legion Post #491Auxiliary, TOPS, and KOPS. Janice and Bernard participated in Outstanding Young Farmers of America. Janice was an avid reader and also enjoyed gardening, baking, farming, and traveling with her friends and family. She also enjoyed watching the Packers and Brewers play. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers; Donald, Dean and Raymond. She is survived by her husband, Bernard of Cazenovia; Children: William (Eng) Braun of Madison, Sue (Gene) Rowe of Milwaukee, Thomas Braun, Jane (John) Reget of LaCrescent, Minnesota, Sam (Geneva) Braun of Stoughton, Pat (James) Brown of Reedsburg, Mary (Andy) Huntamer of Reedsburg, Greg (Patti) Braun of Cazenovia, 19 Grandchildren; 11 Great Grandchildren; Brothers and Sisters: Joseph Duren of Cazenovia, Jeanette Michael of Green Bay, Jerome Duren of DeForest, Paul (Mary Lou) Duren of Waunakee; Sister-in-law, Rita Smith of Cazenovia; Many nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. A Special thank you to Peggy Connors for her loving care given to Janice. We celebrate Janice’s life with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Germantown, with Father Wesley Janowski and Father Lorin Bowens co-officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday at the Cazenovia Chapel from 4:00 to 8:00 PM where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass at the church. Memorials will be placed in a scholarship fund for Weston High School for students pursuing careers in education. The Farber Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Elisaveta was born to Prince Yaroslav I of Kiev and Princess Ingegerd Olofsdotter of Sweden. She was the sister of Anne of Kiev, queen and regent of France, and Anastasia of Kiev, queen of Hungary. During the winter of 1043-44, Elisaveta was married to Prince Harald Sigurdsson of Norway, who was in service of her father at the time. In 1045, she followed Harald to Norway, were he became king and she became queen of Norway. In Norway, she was called Queen Elisiv. In 1047, her husband was the sole ruler, and in 1048, Harald took another wife, Tora Torbergsdatter. In 1066, Harald invaded England, where he died. Elisiv and her daughters followed Harald to England, where Maria died. Elisiv and then Ingegerd returned to Norway.1
