She was born May 25, 1936, in Sedalia, a daughter of Lyman Luther and Effie Augusta Mullineaux Guymon. On June 29, 1958, in Sedalia, she was married to John Earl McMullin, who survives of the home.

Mrs. McMullin was a member of East Sedalia Baptist Church. She worked at Cargill Feed in Smithton for12 years. She also worked as a proofreader for The Sedalia Democrat, was the Smithton City Clerk, owned a tax service, and was publisher for the Smithton Informer. She was a tutor for the State Fair Community College reading program. Mrs. McMullin enjoyed writing poems, stories and keeping the family tree. She wrote a history of Smithton Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren and was a friend to many.

Also surviving are two sons, Steven McMullin, of Sedalia, and Stuart McMullin, of Kansas City; two daughters, Shelley Miller and Sonia Setzer, both of Sedalia; a brother, Lyman Leroy Guymon, of Sedalia; two sisters, Betty Sanford, of Springfield, and Helen Findley, of Columbia; six granddaughters; and a great-granddaughter.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Donald Guymon, Bill Guymon and Glenn Guymon; and three sisters, Hazel Shoe, Mildred Thomas and Mary Lue Gardner.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Trevor Yoakum officiating. Burial will be in Potter Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brian Guymon, Kevin Hepburn, Kelly Birdsong, Mitchell Walker, Andrew McMullin and Donny Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Tarah Wittman, Katie McMullin, Kelli Miller, Jami Miller, Kristi Miller and Samantha Setzer.

Friends may call after 8:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.

He was born October 17, 1934, in Cooper County, a son of the late John Fayette and Letha Alta (Potter) McMullin. On June 29, 1958, at East Sedalia Baptist Church, he married Barbara (Guymon), who preceded him in death on September 18, 2004.

John was a graduate of Smithton High School. He was well known throughout Central Missouri as owner/operator of McMullin TV & Antennae and was always on the cutting edge of television technology. He developed the first community cable TV system in the Midwest at Monsees Lake Estates.

He was a member of East Sedalia Baptist Church. He was a previous member of Smithton Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent.

John was committed to business and family. He taught his children Christian values and hard work. He loved and helped others, always looking for opportunities to minister.

He served as mayor of Smithton and helped establish the civil defense system. He was a gadget engineer, enjoyed tinkering with cars and tractors, and enjoyed watching NASCAR.

He will be remembered for his jokes, stories, and his friendly smile. In retirement, he enjoyed his coffee group at Hardee's.

Survivors include four children, six granddaughters, five great-grandchildren, three sisters, and a brother.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, and parents, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Marilyn Cotner whom he married in 2008, and she passed away in 2016; two sisters, Viola Jaskolski and Kaye Hepburn; and a brother, Claude McMullin.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Rev. Don Satterwhite officiating.

Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Burial will be private in Potter Cemetery.

Mrs. Thomas attended the "little red schoolhouse" from first through eighth grades. She was a Smith-Cotton High School graduate. She worked at Inter-State Studio before she retired. She attended Faith Baptist Church and was a member of the PTA. She also was a Brownie troop leader. She enjoyed playing games and watching and listening to baseball games.

Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Knowles and Robin Hemme, both of Sedalia; a brother, Lyman L. Guymon Jr., of Sedalia; three sisters, Barbara McMullin and Helen Findley, both of Sedalia, and Betty Sanford, of Springfield; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Donald Guymon, Billy Guymon and Glenn Guymon; and two sisters, Hazel Shoe and Mary Lou Gardner.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jimmy Gear officiating. Pallbearers will be Rick L. Knowles, Mark O. Knowles, Cory L. Jett, Paul Swisher, Steven McMullin and Stuart McMullin. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Parkinson's Foundation.

Glen and Lucille loved to travel in their RV to various destinations across the country. They enjoyed life as a couple; wherever it took them, they got there together, and that’s what mattered most. Glen is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by parents; wife, Lucille; brothers, Harris, David, Donald, Robert; sister, Thelma Oesterly and Margaret Recob.

Celebration of Life Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, October 17 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park. Burial following Military Honors in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
