Ursula was born June 20, 1917, in Canistota, South Dakota, the daughter of George and Anna Engelbrecht Krantz. She graduated from Canistota High School in 1935 and married Dr. S. Wallace Westre on June 5, 1939. They enjoyed 68 years of marriage until Wallace died in 2007.
Ursula loved rosemaling, growing tomatoes and raspberries, playing cards, church activities and spending time with her family and friends. She was very proud of the fact that she had never dyed her hair and still had some brown left at the age of 97. Ursula was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she was active in Women Organizations including the Sarah Bible Study group, taught Sunday School and a youth group, and was a choir member for many years. She was a charter member of the “Over 50 Years Bridge Club” which began in 1939 and continued to play until her death.
In community service she was a den mother of the Cub Scouts and a troop leader for both the Brownie and Girl Scouts. She participated in the AFS adult club, was host parent for Yoko Yamada from Japan. She was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary and participated in the Wisconsin Chiropractic Auxiliary and the Gideon International Auxiliary. Ursula was also a member of the Optimist Club where her husband, Wallace was a charter member. After her children were grown, she assisted her husband in the Chiropractic Clinic in Sauk City.

She is survived by four children, son Steven (Robin) Westre of Denton, Maryland; three daughters, Linda (William) Pfisterer of Ester, Alaska, Elaine (Robert) Zuelsdorf of Kissimmee, Florida and Susan (Clayton Schultz) Westre of Paris, France; ten grandchildren, Thora (James) Stith, Lena (Chandler) Denison, Carl (Nancy) Pfisterer, Genevieve (Stuart Kunkle) Pfisterer, Westre (Viola) Pfisterer, Amanda (Ryan) Edwards, Kimberly Zuelsdorf, Allen Zuelsdorf, Emily and Colette Schultz; eleven great-grandchildren, Lydia Stith, Harper Denison, Lenore and Fern Pfisterer, Lovisa and Finn Kunkle, Helena and William Pfisterer, Asa, Willow and Lichen Edwards; two sisters, Verna (Jerry) Dawson and Georgia (Harold) Parker, both of Albany, Oregon; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Of five sisters, three preceded her in death, Alta Halgerson, Velma Williamson and Eileen Schaffer.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20 at St. John’s Evangelical Luthean Church, Prairie du Sac, with Pastor Fred Rilling officiating. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

She worked as a nurse at United Methodist Hospital in Mitchell, Madison General Hospital in Madison, Wis., and Fitzsimons Hospital in Denver.

She married H. Wayne Williamson on Aug. 14, 1944, in Prairie du Sac, Wis.

Mrs. Williamson was preceded in death by two sisters.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Kent Williamson and his wife Melody of Berthoud, Gary Williamson of Loveland; a daughter, Carol Weins of Oakland, Calif; three sisters; Ursula Westre and her husband Wallace of Prairie du Sac, Verna Dawson and her husband Jerry of Albany, Ore., and Georgiana and her husband Harold Parker of Albany; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.


A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, at First United Methodist Church, 350 11th Ave., Longmont. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church. Cremation has taken place.

Death12 February 2007Dr. Sterling Wallace Westre died on 12 February 2007 at age 91 Dr. Sterling Wallace Westre, age 91, died peacefully in his sleep at Maplewood Village in Sauk City on Monday, Feb. 12, 2007. Dr. Westre was born on Jan. 4, 1916, in Jewell, Iowa, the son of Severt and Bertha (Holm) Westre. As a young man he developed an interest in athletics, enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an outdoorsman. Wallace graduated from Jewell High School in 1933 and soon moved to Chicago where he graduated from the National College of Chiropractic in September 1938. Wallace married Ursula Krantz on June 5, 1939, in Canistota, S.D. They recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. Together they built the Chiropractic Clinic in Sauk City. In 1943, Wallace was drafted into the U.S. Army where he put his chiropractic training to use as a physical therapy technician during World War II. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Prairie du Sac since 1939 and served on the church council and in various other capacities, including the church choir. He served as a clerk of the Prairie du Sac School Board for seven years. Dr. Westre participated in professional activities as well. He was elected president of the Wisconsin Chiropractic Society and was selected Chiropractor of the Year by his peers in 1958. He was a member of Gideons International and a life member of Sauk Prairie American Legion Post No. 167. He retired from chiropractic in 1990, after practicing for more than 50 years. Dr. and Mrs. Westre enjoyed world travel and visiting their children and grandchildren. The Westres recently moved to Maplewood Village and they enjoyed the friendly atmosphere created by their neighbors and staff. Wallace especially enjoyed the activities and often commented on the excellent meals there. Dr. Westre is survived by his wife, Ursula; son, Steven (Robin) Westre of Denton, Md; three daughters, Linda (William) Pfisterer of Ester, Alaska, Elaine (Robert) Zuelsdorf of Kissimmee, Fla., Susan Westre (Clayton Schultz) of Paris, France; 10 grandchildren, Thora (Jes) Westre-Stith, Lena Westre, Carl (Nan) Pfisterer, Genevieve (Stuart) Kunkle, Amanda (Ryan) Edwards, Westre (Viola) Pfisterer, Kimberly and Allen Zuelsdorf, Emily and Colette Schultz; five great-grandchildren, Lydia Stith, Lovisa and Finn Kunkle, Asa Edwards and Helena Pfisterer. He was preceded in death by an infant brother and sister; his sister, Clarice (Clifford) Vold; and his parents. A memorial service will be held at ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, Prairie du Sac, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, with Pastor Fred Rilling officiating. Friends may call on the family from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment in the Prairie du Sac Cemetery, with military honors, will be held in June. Memorial donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or a charity of choice.
