She was born on December 22, 1924 in the Township of Washington, Sauk County, the daughter of George and Hilda (Struck) Meyer. On May 12, 1946, she was married to Wayne George Lowery. Together they lived in Reedsburg where she was a long time employee at J.C. Penney. Irma was also a devoted and faithful member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Survivors include her three daughters: Joann Mueller, of Menomonee Falls; Sharon (Chuck) Little, of Huntley, IL and Mary (Gary) Schultz, of Reedsburg; five grandsons: Ron (Brenda) Mueller, Michael (Christine) Mueller, Jason (Amy) Schultz, Brad (Amy) Schultz and Jeremy (Andrea) Little; her only granddaughter: Amy (Josh) Pals; four step grandchildren: Julie (Dave) Steimel, Tim (Colleen) Little, Tammy (Brad) Little and Jennifer (Dave) Cyskiewicz; eleven great-grandchildren: Crystal Simons and Sara Mueller, Elliot and Evelyn Little, Logan and Cassie Schultz, Garrett and Trevor Pals, Brea, Clay and Maya Schultz; step great-grandchildren: Louis Steimel, Scott and Grant Lair, Hannah, Maggie and Jack Little, Eric and Alex Cyskiewicz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, on November 23, 1989; her son-in-law: Joel Mueller; her parents; three brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church in Reedsburg with Pastor Paul Crolius, Pastor Tim Anderson and Pastor Ron Meyer officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery. She was born on Sept. 23, 1930, in Lime Ridge, the daughter of Agon and Clara (Meyer) Gudenschwager. She graduated from Lime Ridge High School and the Sauk County Normal School in 1950 and taught in one-room rural schools for three years. On March 8, 1951, she was united in marriage to Dean Pfaff at St. Paul' s Lutheran Church in Hillpoint. In 1953, they moved to Sauk City where she did substitute teaching for 20 years and then worked as a library assistant for 21 years in the Sauk Prairie Schools.

She was a faithful member of St. John' s Lutheran Church in Prairie du Sac, where she taught Sunday school and confirmation classes for many years. She was a member of the choir, the Messenger group, Martha Circle and the director of the church library in later years. She was active in the community in Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, 4-H and the Hospital Auxiliary. She was an avid gardener who loved to share her flowers and vegetables. Books and a love of reading and sewing were other interests.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Dean; two daughters, Deanna (Tom) Fischer of Oregon, and Rita (Kris) Sperstad of Eau Claire; two sons, Robert (Debbie) of Baraboo, and John (Sharol) of Prairie du Sac; nine grandchildren, Claire, Doug and his fiancee Chrissy Williams, and David Fischer, Andy and Daniel Pfaff, Dean and Julie Sperstad, and T.J. and Brady Pfaff; a great-grandson, Braydon Fischer; two sisters, Caroline (Milford) McCauley of Hillpoint, and Lucille Gher of Reedsburg; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Larry Gher.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at ST. JOHN' S LUTHERAN CHURCH in Prairie du Sac with Pastor Fred Rilling officiating. Interment will be in the Sauk City Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2010, at ST. JOHN' S LUTHERAN CHURCH and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials of remembrance may be made to St. John' s Lutheran Church or to the church library. The Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg is serving the family.
