MarriageFebruary 1883Gunder J. (Senior) Lund married Sophia Klefsaas in February 1883.
Death24 March 1935Gunder J. (Senior) Lund died on 24 March 1935 at Lac Qui Parle, Minnesota, at age 78 Gunder J. Lund, Sr., for 57 years a resident of Lake Shore township, Lac Qui Parle county, [Minnesota], passed away at his home Sunday [March 24, 1935] from infirmities due to old age.

Mr. Lund was born October 1st, 1856, in Stjordalen, near Throndhjem, Norway, and would have been 79 years old had he lived to another birthday.

He came to America with his parents when eight years old, settling in Goodhue county, Minnesota, where they lived a few years, moving to Elk Point, South Dakota. When he was 22 years old, in 1878, he came to this county [Lac Qui Parle] and homesteaded the farm on which he has since lived and where he died. In February, 1883, he was married to Miss Sophie Klefsaas, who survives him.

Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Lund, five of whom are surviving. They are Robert of Corinth, North Dakota, Mrs. Esther Dove, Adolph, Silas and Gustav, all of Lake Shore township. A son, Oscar Lund, died 12 years ago. He was the father of Milton Lund of this city. The other deceased children died in infancy.

There were 11 children in the family of Mr. Lund's parents, of whom only one is now surviving. She is Mrs. Gjertine Peterson of Twin Falls, Idaho, and with the passing of Gunder Lund, Sr., is the last of a large family.

Mr. and Mrs. Lund celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in February, 1933.

Funeral services were held Wednesday from the home and Hegre Lutheran Church, of which he was a charter member, and very actively interested in church activity all of his life. Rev. S.C. Simonson officiated.

Those who had the pleasure of knowing and working with Mr. Lund will sadly miss a highly esteemed friend. His death marks the passing of another of those stalwart farmers who did so much to build this county for the past century.
