Mrs. Ele was born Nov. 15, 1925, in Grant Park, Ill., the daughter of Emery and Frieda Kohlscheen Heldt. She later married Lester Ele, who died in August 1983. Surviving are two daughters, Paula (Michael) Ele Freeman, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Debra (Greg Putz-fiance) Allie, LaPorte; a son, Ronald Ele, Union Mills; a grandson, Darren Allie, LaPorte; two sisters, Edna Snell, Dorothy Edmonds, both of Crown Point, Ind; and a brother, Morris Heldt, Cedar Lake, Ind. Mrs. Ele was a co-owner with her husband for 33 years of the Les and Pearl’s Tavern, Union Mills. She was a member of the American Legion Post 295 Auxiliary, Union Mills, and the LaPorte County Tavern Owners Association.

Mrs. Heldt was president of First National Bank of Grant Park and Chairman of the Board of Directors. She was born Jan. 1, 1920, in Kankakee, the daughter of John and Emma Stoeven Rosenbrock. Her husband, Ira Heldt, is deceased. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Grant Park.

Surviving are two daughters, Yvonne Riechers of Indian Head Park and Michelle Allen of Grant Park; five grandchildren, Cisa Curtin of LaGrange, Andrea (Brian) Rubash of Janesville, Wis., Cassandra Allen, Cpl. Kiel Allen and Ira Allen, all of Grant Park; two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Bailey Rubash; one sister, Velma Willie of Momence; and one sister-in-law, Lorna Rosenbrock of Kankakee.

One brother, Arnold Rosenbrock and one sister, Lorna Mussman, are deceased.
