Funeral services will be August 10, 2006 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Menominee, NE. Burial will be in the St. Boniface parish cemetery.

Marvin was born on February 10, 1924 on the family farmstead near Bow Valley to Victor and Johanna Feilmeier Sudbeck.

He grew up on the family farm and attended Saints Peter and Paul Grade School in Bow Valley.

He served in the Army from 1945 to 1947.

He married Rita Jansen on August 27, 1947 in Menominee, NE. They farmed just west of Bow Valley for 40 years.

While farming, he also worked for Neu Cheese in Hartington for 25 years. Upon leaving Neu Cheese he then worked for the Cedar County Road Department.

He served as an officer for the German Mutual Farmers Insurance Company for many years.

Marvin was a member of the Holy Family (Saints Peter and Paul) Catholic Church in Bow Valley, the Catholic Order of Foresters, Holy Name Society, and the Wynot American Legion Post 31.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Rita of Bow Valley; eleven children, Lois Wong (Warner) of Seattle, Washington; Marty Sudbeck (Deb) of Bow Valley; Dona Clune (Gary) of Lakehills, Texas; Bill Sudbeck of Saint Paul, Minnesota; Vicky Koch (Maurice) of Saint James; Kay Sudbeck of Lincoln, Nebraska; Rowland Sudbeck of Bow Valley; Rhea Hochstein (Roy) of Bennet, Nebraska; Dwight Sudbeck of Bloomfield; Tom Sudbeck (Julie) of Yankton; and Marlow Sudbeck of Rush City, Minnesota; 18 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a brother, Orville Sudbeck of Bow Valley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Geralyn, a son, John, a brother, Joe Sudbeck, and a sister, LaVern Goeden.

Rita Mary was born on June 14, 1925 in Menominee, Nebraska to John and Maxalinda (Suing) Jansen. She grew up in the Menominee area and went to District 56 Country School and St Boniface in Menominee. Rita married Marvin J. Sudbeck on August 27, 1947 in Menominee, NE. They farmed just west of Bow Valley for 40 years. Rita and Marvin raised 13 children – Lois, Marty, Dona, Bill, Vicky, Kay, Rowland, Rhea, Dwight, Tom, Marlow, Geralyn, & John. Rita worked at the Golden Living Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide for many years, then for M-Tron Industries in Yankton for nearly 20 years. Rita also worked for Avera Home Health Services and for the Nebraska Home for the Aging.

Rita was a loving mother and grandmother, great cook and gardener, and loyal friend. She made time for everyone. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and then Holy Family. She was a member of The Chrismatic Prayer Group, Christian Mothers, Contemplative Prayer Groups, the Rosary Club, Bible Study Group, and held several hours of adoration at Holy Family Church. Rita loved the Blessed Virgin Mary and prayed the rosary daily. Rita also was involved with the ARC from Bloomfield and actively advocated for children with disabilities legislation. Rita was also a member of Alanon for over 30 years.

Rita is survived by her 10 children and spouses, Marty (Deb) Sudbeck of Bow Valley, Dona (Gary) Clune of Lakefort, TX, Bill Sudbeck of Bow Valley, Vicky (Maurice) Koch of St. James, Kay Sudbeck of Lincoln, Rowland Sudbeck of Hartington, Rhea (Roy) Hochstein of Bennet, NE, Dwight Sudbeck of Bloomfield, Tom (Julie) Sudbeck of Yankton, Marlow Sudbeck of Hartington; 19 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; brother-in-law Warner Wong of Seattle, WA; brother Clarence (Angie) Jansen of Fordyce; two sisters Clara Rolfes of St. James, NE, Lorraine Schulte of Hartington; sister-in-law MaryAnn Jansen of Yankton, SD.

She missed out of all the fun of High School because she felt a deep passion instead to assist her mother with household tasks while she had lumbago in her back. She married Joseph Sudbeck on September 12, 1950. She was a housewife and stayed on the farm for 53 years, moved into Hartington in 2003.

Mary Ann is survived by her five sons and spouses, Charles and Jan Sudbeck of St. Helena, Roger and Barb Sudbeck of Hartington, Bob and Karla Sudbeck of Fordyce, Mark and Jarinda Sudbeck of Fordyce, and Jim and MeCheyl Sudbeck of Fordyce, 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; two sisters Johanna Hoebelheinrich of Fordyce, Elsie Wiebelhaus of Sioux Falls, SD; three brothers, Henry & Thelma Wesseln of Anaheim, CA, Ray and Marilyn Wesseln of Huntington Beach, CA, Tony and Maureen Wesseln of Norfolk, NE; sister-in-law Rita Sudbeck of Bow Valley, NE.
