Ralph was born on Oct. 24, 1932, in Plain, Wis., the son of Sylvester and Laura (Reuschlein) Nachreiner. He served his country with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Ralph was a lifelong farmer and printer, owning and operating E.N.A. Business Forms in McFarland. He was married on May 22, 1954, to Pauline M. Schwartz at St. Norbert's in Roxbury. Ralph loved fishing, hunting and gardening. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Portage, Knights of Columbus C. W. Henney Council No. 1637, and VFW Post No. 1707, Portage. He is survived by his wife, Pauline "Polly"; his children, Gail (John) Hartman of Madison, Carl (Ginny) Nachreiner of Waunakee, and Curt (Sandy) Nachreiner of Caledonia; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and another due in April; his siblings, Robert (Margie) Nachreiner, Richard (Mary Frances) Nachreiner, Ray (Martha) Nachreiner, and Rita (Jim) Kaiser; his in-laws, Gordie (Pearl) Davis, Clem (Mary Ann) Schwartz, Hubert (Nancy) Schwartz, Marcie (Leroy) Acker, and Gerard Schwartz; his dog, Lucky; other near relatives and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Laura Nachreiner; an infant brother; and a grandson, Robert Nachreiner. Memorial services will be held in the spring at St. Mary Catholic Church in Portage, with Father Jim Murphy presiding. Inurnment will be in Shanks Cemetery, with military graveside services provided by Portage area veterans. The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, Portage, or to the Biochemical Genetics Clinic, in care of U.W. Waisman Center, 1500 Highland Ave., Madison, WI 53705. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Divine Savior EMT, the Emergency Room Team and the entire staff of Divine Savior Healthcare. He was born in Plain, Wisconsin on June 14, 1931 to Sylvester and Laura (Reuschlein) Nachreiner. Bob attended St. Lukes School in Plain, Wisconsin. On July 13, 1951, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was a Staff Sargent honorably discharged in 1955. He served during the Korean War maintaining electronics on B36 bombers. While in the service, he was stationed at Rapid City, South Dakota; El Paso, Texas and Guam.

He met his wife Marge (Margaret Ann Lochner) at a wedding dance at Ganser’s Resort on Fish Lake. They were married on June 7, 1952 and celebrated 69 years of marriage. Bob and Marge made their home in Sauk City and raised six children. He attended Wisconsin School of Electronics and was employed by Ace Hardware repairing TV’s and radios. He also worked at RayOVac as an electronics technician. He went on to own his own communication business, Tri-County Communications. He provided and serviced two-way radios for several emergency services and businesses. Later on, he and Marge purchased a shoe store in Sauk City and combined the two businesses. He retired in 2005 when a fire destroyed the building.

Bob volunteered as a fireman for Sauk City Fire Department in 1958 and retired 36 years later. He was also a charter member of the Sauk Prairie Ambulance Association and served for 26 years. Bob loved going to the lodge at the “40” near Plain. In his later years, sitting on the front porch watching nature and enjoying a fine cigar was a great pleasure for him. Many hunting trips, family and friend gatherings were enjoyed there.

He is survived by his children; Sue Nachreiner, Rob (Jackie) Nachreiner, Jan (Bill) Hendrickson, Diane (Phil) Ganser, Dave (Jane) Nachreiner, Paul (Chris) Nachreiner, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also survived by his siblings; Richard (Mary Frances) Nachreiner, Ray (Martha) Nachreiner, and Rita Kaiser, sisters and brother in-law Elaine Lochner, Ann Gaukel, Earl (Chris) Lochner and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife Margaret (2/27/2022), parents, an infant brother, brother Ralph (Polly) Nachreiner, mother and father in-law Aurelia and August Lochner, brothers and sisters in-law; Vic (Betty) Lochner, Alex (Amelda) Lochner, Jerry Lochner, Ken (Mary Jane) Lochner, Tom Gaukel, Jim Kaiser.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Hooverson Funeral Home in Sauk City from 10:00 am to 11:15 am. A mass of Christian burial will follow at Saint Aloysius Catholic Church in Sauk City at 11:30 am.

Interment will be at St. Aloysius cemetery. Military honors will be provided by VFW Lachmund Cramer Post 7694. A luncheon will follow at The Dorf Haus in Roxbury.

The former Loretta Christina Haag was born August 20, 1909 in Perry Township, WI to Lawrence & Christina (Bowar) Haag. She married Herman W. Hefty on August 27, 1930 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. They farmed in Perry Township and moved to Mt. Horeb in 1962. Herman died November 15, 1989. She loved flowers and her garden. She did a lot of sewing and crafts.

She was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Mt. Horeb, of its Council of Catholic Women and decorated the altar at St. Ignatius Church with flowers from her garden.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 30, 2002 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Mt. Horeb, WI with Fr. Paul Arinze officiating. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 PM on Thursday, August 29, 2002 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church where a scripture service will be at 33:30 PM. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial and donations be given to St. Ignatius and Holy Redeemer Churches. The Hefty family would like the thank the staff of Ingleside Nursing Home for their care and support. The Ellestad Funeral Home in Mt. Horeb is serving the family.
