Death was due to an attack of flu and pneumonia. While he had been in failing health for some time, he was able to be up and care for his work until Wednesday of last week. Mr. DeCamp was born in Indiana 77 years ago but came to Iowa when a lad of about five years , making the trip overland with his parents and crossing the Mississippi river on the ice in true pioneer fashion. The family located on a farm west of Adel and with the exception of a few years when he conducted a blacksmith shop in Adel that community has always been his home. Mr. DeCamp is survived by his wife, three sons and three daughters. They are: Orval DeCamp of Redfield; Mrs. C. F. Doerr of St. Louis; L. E. DeCamp of Adel; Mrs. C. W. Coulter, of Colfax: Orpha DeCamp, at home and Millford DeCamp of St. Louis. There is also one brother, Hi DeCamp of Topeka, Kansas, and several half brothers and sisters, Mrs. Emery Skinner of Adel ; Norman DeCamp of Des Moines; Lafe DeCamp of Redfield; Silas DeCamp of Redfield; Mrs. Hettie Welch of Des Moines; Mar shall DeCamp and Mrs. Annas Bennetson, both of whom live in California. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church in Redfield. Burial will be at Panther Creek cemetery.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to September 1945, and returned to Bow Valley where he farmed. He moved in to Hartington in 1983. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Catholic Order of
Foresters, Hartington VFW Post #5283 and the Disabled American Veterans. He was also a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife, Anna, Hartington; nine children and their spouses, Roger and Sherry Wortmann, Hartington; Mary Jean and Richard Stefanec, Tarzana, Calif; Louann and Gary Gard, Chesapeake, Va; Dennis and Deb Wortmann, North Platte; Jolene and Robert Fleissner, Omaha; Rita and Joe Craig, Omaha; Loren and Mary Ann Wortmann, Hartington; Gerard "Gary" and Joan Wortmann, Hartington; Carol and Tim Craig, Hartington; three sisters, Elvira Kathol, Bow Valley; Mrs. Edgar (Theodora) Wuebben, Wynot; Mrs. John (Josephine) Olinger, Sioux Falls, S.D; two brothers, Rev. Edgar Wortmann, Omaha, and Francis Wortmann, Hartington; 39 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Marie; a brother, August; a sister,
Eleanor Pinkelman; and a granddaughter, Michelle Wortmann. Memorials preferred to Cedar Catholic Endowment Fund.

Visitation will be on Monday, at church, from 5-8:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues on Tuesday one hour prior to services. Arrangements are the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.

Pallbearers will be Dean Wortmann, Annie Stefanec, Michael Gard, Timothy Fleissner, Thomas Craig, Matt Wortmann, Wesley Wortmann, and John Craig. Honorary pallbearers will be Anna’s grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Anna Catherine was born on December 16, 1922 in Crofton, Nebraska to Ferdinand and Mary (Foxhoven) Guenther. She grew up in Crofton and then married Rudolph Joseph Wortmann on April 30, 1946 in Constance, Nebraska. She and Rudy lived in Bow Valley during their married life. Ten children were born to this union. They moved into Hartington in 1983. Rudolph died on January 18, 1999 at the age of 78 years.

Anna was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters of America, Catholic Order of Foresters and the Legion of Mary. Anna did a lot of volunteering in town and at the school library.

Anna is survived by nine children and spouses Roger (Sherry) Wortmann of Hartington, Mary (Richard) Stefanec of Colorado Springs, CO, Louann (Gary) Gard of Chesapeake, VA, Dennis Wortmann of Coeur d’Alene, ID, Jolene (Robert) Fleissner of Omaha, NE, Rita (Joseph) Craig of Omaha, NE, Loren (MaryAnn) Wortmann of Hartington, Gerard “Gary” (Joan) Wortmann of Hartington, Carol (Tim) Craig of Nixa, MO; 40 grandchildren; 95 great grandchildren; one brother Albert (Janice) Guenther of Norfolk, NE; sisters-in-law Rose Guenther of Crofton, Marcie Guenther of South Sioux City, NE, Irene Wortmann of Hartington.

Preceding Anna in death were her parents, husband Rudolph; daughter Jean Marie; granddaughter Michelle Wortmann; four sisters Catherine (Ted) Dreismeier, Elizabeth (Victor) Hames, Mary (Toby) Steffen, Rosaline (Roman) Burbach; four brothers Fred “Fritz” (Madeline) Guenther, Joseph (Hilaria) Guenther, John (Ethel) Guenther, and Clarence Guenther.

Pallbearers will be Eric Wuebben, Kyle Wuebben, Heath Wuebben, Michael Wuebben, Alex Wuebben, Josh Palvish, and Vince Colford.

Honorary pallbearers will be Theodora’s grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Theodora Johanna Wuebben was born May 22, 1918 in Bow Valley, Nebraska to Anton and Mary (Schnuetigen) Wortmann. She attended Bunker Hill Country School south of Bow Valley and lived at home until her marriage to Edgar J. Wuebben on May 12, 1948. To this marriage, six children were born. Theodora and Edgar lived and farmed in the St. James area all their lives. They were married for 61 years until Edgar’s death in 2009. In September of 2015, at the age of 97, Theodora moved to the nursing home in Hartington.

Theodora loved gardening, canning, growing flowers, crocheting, quilting, sewing, and she belonged to several card clubs. She was a lifelong member of the Sts. Philip and James Catholic Church and was part of the St. James Altar Society. Theodora was also a member of the Holy Family (Sacred Heart) Catholic Church in Wynot, Nebraska.

She is survived by her 6 children and their spouses, Marlene and Kenneth Swanson of Hubbard, NE, LaDonna and Mike Fuhrer of Orange City, FL, Allen and Terri Wuebben of Norfolk, NE, Vernon and Rose Wuebben of Crofton, NE, Donovan Wuebben of Wynot, NE, and Terry and Janet Wuebben of Crofton, NE; brother and sister-in-law Francis and Irene Wortmann, sister-in-law Anna Wortmann; 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edgar on November 4, 2009, brothers and sisters Elvira Kathol, Eleanor Pinkelman, Rudy Wortmann, Fr. Ed Wortmann, August Wortmann, and Joie Olinger, and 3 grandchildren.
