Left to cherish his memory are his children: Connie Godfrey of Galesburg, and Russell Kelso of Galesburg; six grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and many great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Henry “Hank” (Phyllis) Kelso of East Galesburg, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Sereta Jefferson; and three brothers, Lester, Glen and Frances.

Bert was employed by Gates Rubber Company in Galesburg for thirty years, retiring in 2005 as a Pressman. He enjoyed attending yard sales, antiquing, and was a collector of everything.

Cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be made to the family in care of Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes, 120 South Public Square, Knoxville, Illinois 61448. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois is assisting the family with their wishes.

Kelso of Galesburg and eight grandchildren, Jacob Cochran, Megan Cochran, Courtney Cochran, Stevie Heiman, Christopher Brooks, Zoe Brooks, Mason Price and Evan Kelso.
He was preceded in death by his father, a son Michael Kelso, two daughters, Lisa Kelso and Angie Kelso, a brother Glenn Kelso, an Uncle Claude Kelso and three grandchildren, Aydan Brooks, Ariel Brooks and Ethan Price.
Lester worked for Outboard Marine Corporation, Gale Products Division and Maytag both in Galesburg. He also was a farmer of fresh vegetables and worked for several area farmers. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, Ill. Rev. Kirk Kendall will officiate. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur Kelso; and stepfather, Charles F. Jones. He was raised and educated in Dahinda. He worked as a fork lift operator for Koppers in Galesburg. He attended East Galesburg Community Chapel in East Galesburg. Fishing in Spoon River, hunting and trapping were his favorite pastimes.
We love him and will miss him for the rest of our lives. Cremation rites will be accorded.
A memoral service will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, at Hurd-Hendricks Fellowship Center, 126 S. Public Square, Knoxville. Inurnment will be at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the family. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

His brothers, Henry “Hank” (Phyllis) Kelso of East Galesburg, Illinois and Bert Kelso of Galesburg, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lester and Glen and a sister-in-law, Brenda.

He worked doing many odd jobs in the area.

Graveside Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 30, 2018 at the Trenton Cemetery in Rural Dahinda, Illinois, with Bobbie Jo Barnes officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Family. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory in charge of services.

Wilma was born January 14, 1931 in Bloomfield IL, the daughter of Carl H. and Ethel M. Bollman Kasparie. She attended Bloomfield School. She married Birney M. Whitley on June 28, 1980 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on June 6, 1999.

She was an accomplished seamstress who loved to make Barbie doll clothes, and crocheting scarves for friends and family. She also made the best birthday cakes. She had a large asparagus patch and actually met her husband selling asparagus to his mother. Wilma and Bernie loved to hunt and fish together. Over the years she became a pretty good shot. She thought the world of her dogs, Boots and Rex.

Survivors include: nieces and nephews, Larry (Linda) Kasparie of Liberty, Nancy Walker of Quincy, Lois (Brad) Dickson of Quincy, Connie (John) Maxwell of Chatham, IL, Ron (Betty) Kasparie of Quincy, Mike (Diane) Kasparie of Maywood, MO, Jim (Michelle) Kasparie of Quincy, Darlene of Stockton, CA, and Diane Riley of Quincy; as well as some very good neighbors, Donna and LeRoy Goodwin.

In addition to her husband, Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Garner and Gerald Kasparie and a sister Neva Siebers.

Services: 11:00 am on Monday, January 11, 2021 at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Rev. Martin Eden officiating

She was a native of Prussia, where she was born on February 1, 1840. Her maiden name was Sena Daudch. She was united in marriage with M. J. Neisius in 1858 and they came to America in 1871, settling in Roscoe county. Six children were born to their union of whom three boys passed away in early
manhood. Three living are: Mrs. John Neisius, Mrs. Kate Peysen and John Neisus. There are also nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mr. Neisus is seventy-seven years old. He and his wife celebrated their golden wedding anniversary three years ago. The funeral will be held on Saturday at St. Joseph’s church.
