Death15 December 2015Clinton Lloyd Wetrosky died on 15 December 2015 at age 90 Clinton Lloyd Wetrosky was born September 12, 1925 at the family home in rural LeMars, IA to Elmer and Ruth (Eberhard) Wetrosky. He passed away peacefully with his five children at his side at Bethesda of Beresford on December 15, 2015. He was 90 years, 3 months and 3 days. Clinton attended Merrill Iowa Liberty Consolidated School and Rural Alcester Country Schools. He was proud to be a veteran of World War Two, serving in the Navy from 1945-1946. He was a plankowner on the USS Richard B. Anderson, having gone aboard the ship before it was commissioned.

He married Beverly Jean Wevik November 5, 1950 and was blessed with 61 years of marriage. Clinton milked cows and farmed. He also worked for the ASCS of Elk Point as a County Fieldman for many years, a job which he thoroughly enjoyed. Clint and Bev lived south of Nora until 1966 when they moved south of Roseni in rural Beresford. They retired in 1996 and moved into Beresford. Clinton enjoyed playing cards anywhere he could, but especially at Spink. He and Bev took a trip to Hawaii many years ago that held special memories for them. The most important thing in Clinton’s life was his family and having everyone together; he cherished every moment he had with them. He and his five children took a trip to Washington, DC three years ago that was unforgettable for all of them. He was also able to go to Maine this summer with a lot of the family. He often talked of these trips and all the memories that were made. He was married at and was a lifelong member of Roseni Lutheran Church. Clint was a member of the Beresford Senior Citizens, he delivered Meals on Wheels, was a VFW member, a member of the Beresford Lions and a Legion member.

His parents, Elmer and Ruth Wetrosky; wife Beverly; in-laws Newton and Viola Wevik, grandson Tracy Wetrosky, sister Verda Akland and brother Don Wetrosky preceded him in death. Survivors include children, Nancy (Randy) Schaap, Terry Wetrosky, Pam (Randy) Heuer, Jerry (Marlene) Wetrosky and Kim (Dan) Williams; 14 grandchildren, Aaron (Dana) Schaap, Amanda (Paul) Creviston, Abbie (Matt) Bertsch, Lisa (Craig) Ringling, Geoff (Hal) Wetrosky, Lynsey (Eric) Andal, Tara (Todd) Shumansky, Sara (Ben) Delay, Josh (Molly) Homandberg, Rachelle (Matthew) Carlson, Heather (Chris) Hongslo, Jonathan Treiber, Molly McInnis and Emma Williams; 23 great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Estelle, Elijah and Genevieve Schaap, Isabella and Sophia Creviston, Norah and Dawson Bertsch, Connor and Caden Ringling, Shaylen and DeLainey Andal, Jace, Aubrey and Mason Shumansky, Josie, Megan and Cooper DeLay, Lawson Homandberg, and Ella Carlson, Avery, Devin and Skylar Hongslo. Also surviving are his brothers Lowell (Norma) Wetrosky and Dwight Wetrosky; sisters Norma Stene and Irene Fickbohm, sister-in-law Shirley Wetrosky; brother-in-law Eldean (Eleanor) Wevik; sister-in-law Arlene (Wendell) Akland; Lillian Solbue and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation with family present will be 5-8PM Friday, December 18th at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford with a prayer service at 7PM. Funeral services will be held at 2PM on Saturday, December 19th at Roseni Lutheran Church, rural Beresford.

Memorials may be directed to Roseni Lutheran Church.

Dwight Eugene Wetrosky was born July 12, 1927 to parents Elmer and Ruth (Eberhard) Wetrosky in Merrill, IA. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Peace Lutheran on June 14, 1942.

On May 28, 1950 he was united in marriage to Wava Mickelson at Grand Valley Lutheran Church, rural Canton, SD. In 1961, Dwight and Wava purchased a farm near Alcester and they became members of Nathanael Lutheran in February, 1961, where he served on the church council and choir.

He was a member of the FHA Board, 18 year-member of the Alcester Township board, Lion’s Club, and Alcester Community Chorus. He loved spending time with his friends at morning coffee at Cenex and at the Senior Citizen’s center. He enjoyed playing cards, playing pool, bowling, and Senior Golf League on Tuesday mornings. After achieving 2 hole-in-one’s at the Alcester Golf Course, he was told, he “must have been a good player,” he replied, “not so much, I was a lucky guy.” He also enjoyed spending the winters with Becky in Rapid City, Lorrie in Denver and Jolene in Pittsburgh, where he was blessed to enjoy quality time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dwight is survived by his daughters, LaZanne Wetrosky, Jolene Witt, Becky (Jim) Trudeau and Lorrie (Larry) Reeves; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sister, Norma Stene; and brother, Lowell Wetrosky.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Wava; his parents; sisters, Verda Akland and Irene Fickbohm; and brothers, Clinton Wetrosky and Don Wetrosky.

She then worked for the Bell Telephone Company in Canton until her marriage to Dwight Wetrosky on May 28, 1950. They farmed until retirement in 1991 when they moved to Alcester.

Wava was a member of Nathanael Lutheran Church where she served as a Circle Leader and Sunday School Teacher and was on the Altar Committee and Ruth WELCA Circle. Wava loved spending time with her family and enjoyed bowling, golf, and doing ceramics. She and Dwight spent winters in L Lano Grande Park in Mercedes, TX, a place they so enjoyed.

She is survived by her husband Dwight; four daughters, LaZanne Wetrosky, Jolene (Dean) Witt, Becky (Jim) Trudeau and Lorrie (Larry) Reeves; 14 grandchildren, Sean (Sara) Reeves , Nathan (Brooke) Witt, Angela Trudeau, Tiffany (Brian) Leibold, Zachary (Michelle) Witt, Trisha (Jon) Rethinger, Hillary (Steve) Segulla, Natalie (Jesse) Truman , Jesse (Aimee) Trudeau, Ryan Kiernan, Dillon Witt, Malea (Clark) Hutt, Micah (Stacy) Kiernan , Preston Reeves, 16 great grandchildren: Ashtynn, Cossette , Jolie, Halle, Callie, Brady, Kyla, Jude, Nora, Bode, Noah, Cruz, Madelynn,Asher, Michaela, Riley; a special beloved niece, Nan Wandry; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Dorothy Cornelius and Helen Bobbledyk, and her brother Vernon and his wife Naomi.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 29 at Nathanael Lutheran Church, Alcester, with burial to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Alcester. Visitation will be Tuesday at the church from 6PM to 8PM with a prayer service at 7PM.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and two sisters and their husbands, Delores and Bob Greene and Darlene and Cliff Nelson. Memorial services will be 10AM Saturday, July 24th at Roseni Lutheran Church, rural Beresford. Irene married William Bruce Miller in rural Hawarden in 1941. Four children were raised on the family farm: Gail (Kent) Gardner, Bill (Marilyn) Miller, Greg (Stephne) Miller and Keith (Shelley) Miller. Irene married Merl Fickbohm in 1995 and brought four step-children into the family; Marilyn (James) Lyle, Elaine (Curtis) Sandvall, Duane (Glenna) Fickbohm and Dwight (Sherry) Fickbohm. Irene has 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; in addition, there are many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, step-great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Irene worked in factories in her early years, including a meat packing plant in Sioux City. She loved to sew, quilt and crochet. She enjoyed family reunions, playing cards with her siblings and talking about friends and relatives from days gone by. Irene was gifted with a wonderful sense of humor and a quick wit. She was a dual member of Union Creek and Roseni Lutheran churches.

She is also survived by her three siblings, Dwight Wetrosky, Norma Stene and Lowell (Norma) Wetrosky; and sister-in-law, Shirley Wetrosky. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Merl; sister, Verda Akland; brothers, Don Wetrosky and Clinton Wetrosky; brothers-in-law, Stanley Akland and Jack Stene; sisters-in-law, Beverly Wetrosky and Wava Wetrosky and two nephews and one niece.

Funeral services will be 10AM Friday, May 10, 2019 at Roseni Lutheran Church, rural Beresford with burial at Union Creek Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 5-7PM Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.

Death23 January 2008Donald Leroy Wetrosky died on 23 January 2008 at age 74 Don L. Wetrosky, age 74, of Sparks, passed away on January 23, 2008 at St. Mary‘s Hospital, Reno, NV. He was born in Lemars, IA on July 25, 1933 to Elmer and Ruth Wetrosky. When Don was three years old the family moved to southeastern South Dakota and lived on a farm in the Alcester, SD area. Don served with the U.S. Army occupational forces in German during the Korean war. He married a fellow alumni of Alcester High School, Shirley Vetos in 1960 and graduated from the University of South Dakota in 1961. He taught special education in junior and senior high school in Bellevue, NE from 1961 to 1972. In 1972 Don and Shirley moved with their three children to Denver, CO where Don changed careers and became a commercial and residential painter. They followed the migration of their three children to southern California in 1986 and retired to Sparks, NV in 2002.

Surviving are wife Shirley; children Melissa (Mark) Pingle, Jeff (Grace) Wetrosky, Joel Wetrosky; grandchildren Rachel, Rebekah and Leah Pingle, Jacob and Hannah Wetrosky; sisters Verda Akland, Irene Fickbohm and Norma (Jack) Stene all of Beresford, SD; brothers Clinton (Beverly) Wetrosky of Beresford, SD, Dwight (Wava) Wetrosky of Alcester, SD and Lowell (Norma) Wetrosky of Brandon, SD; brothers-in-law Lester (Eunice) Vetos of Cambridge, MN, Donald (Connie) Vetos of Yuma AZ and Stan (Paulette) Vetos of Nampa, ID and three generations of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Saturday February 2, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. at Sierra Bible Church, 3195 Everett Dr., Reno, NV 89503.

He graduated from Beresford High School in 1970 and was active in 4-H, FFA, football, wrestling and track. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the University of South Dakota. David married Deborah Dirckx on October 6, 1990 in Marshall, MN. They were blessed with their three daughters: Daniele, Delanie and Dalee.

David began working with his father, Jack, in the commodities business in Sioux City, IA. After, he worked at several commodity offices before starting his own office, David Stene Commodities, in conjunction with Dakota Ag Marketing. Work wasn’t work to David; he truly lived his business, keeping a close eye on the markets. He faithfully attended his girls’ activities, but would head back to the office as soon as he could. He enjoyed hunting, caring for his lawn, raising his puppies, and he especially enjoyed watching sports on TV.

David is survived by his wife, Deb, Sioux Falls, SD; daughters, Daniele Stene and her fiancé, Trentin Kooima, Delanie Stene and Dalee Stene, all of Sioux Falls, SD; his mother, Norma Stene, Beresford, SD; two brothers, Mike Stene and his wife, Patti, Shawnee, KS, and their children, Stacy Wofford and her husband, Brandon, and their children, Gavin, Mya and Savanna, Shawn Stene and his wife, Courtney and Derek Stene and Jim Stene and his wife, Mary, Lenexa, KS, and their two children, Carly Bullinger and her husband, Blake, and their son, Luke, and Dalton Stene; his sisters-in-law, Sharon Babel and her husband, Jim, and their two sons, Nick and Sonny Fite, Paulette Dero and her husband, Pat, and their two children, Sarah Blagdon and Jed Normann, Becky Smith and her husband, John, and their two children, Ryan Smith and Kristin Tallas, and Cindy Welu and her husband, Mike, and their two children, Cody and Jenny Welu; and many other dear family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack; and his parents-in-law, Edwin and Louise Dirckx.
