Survivors include his 3 children, Brian Sprecher of Prairie du Sac, Theresa (Joe) Stapleton of Spring Green, Mark (Donna) Sprecher of Madison, 6 grandchildren, Francis Sprecher and fiancée Morgan Mannstedt, Justin (Heather) Stapleton, Lindsey Stapleton, Calli, Christina and Cory Sprecher, 6 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Lucille Sprecher, an infant son, Tony Sprecher, his wife Kathleen Sprecher.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at the Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. where the family suggests masks and social distancing. A private family burial will be held at the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Spring Green American Legion Post #253.

The Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home in Spring Green is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Bud enjoyed sports, playing Home Talent baseball, coaching youth sports, and was an avid golfer with 9 aces and 3 club championships. He worked for 41 years as a Production Manager with Ohio Medical Group. Bud was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, serving as a past Grand Knight. He is survived by his wife; 6 children; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a brother; many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Courtney; a brother, Jim Hutter; and a special Aunt and Uncle, Casper "Cap" and Odelia Schlungbaum.

Following Bernie' s tour with the U.S. Army, they farmed in Plain for five years, and then moved to Waunakee in 1951. Bernie worked at Oscar Mayer until his retirement and part time at Ripp' s City Service gas station in Waunakee. He loved hunting, fishing and snowmobilingat this cabin in Phillips, Wisconsin. Survivors include five children,Yvonne (Danny) Paul, Ron (Lynette) Byrnes, Don (Doris) Byrnes, Mike (Dee) Byrnes and Barb Byrnes; eight grandchildren, Carmen (Paul) Byrnes, Larry (Gayle) Paul, Pat (Stephanie) Byrnes, Stephanie Byrnes, ShannonByrnes, Brittany Byrnes and Scott and Jeff Byrnes; four great-grandchildren, Madysen and Lauryn Paul and Riley and Logan Byrnes. His family meant the world to him. Other survivors include his brother, Patrick (Sandy) Byrnes; sisters, Maureen (John ) Chekouras and Patricia (Russ) Hale; sister-in-law, Mary (Bob) Peiffer; brother-in-law, Norbert Fike; his in-laws, Wilfred (Shirley) Nachreiner, Francis (Carol) Nachreiner andJen Kaun; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a granddaughter, Kelly Byrnes; four brothers, Larry, James, Raymond and Donald; two sisters, Kathleen and Bernice; a sister-in-law, Joyce; and brothers-in-law, Peter Meister and Bill Kaun. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, at 11 a.m. at ST. JOHN' S CATHOLIC CHURCH. Monsignor James Gunn will officiate. She was born on July 11, 1929 in Reedsburg, WI to Patrick and Mary (Clippert) Byrnes. She was the 8th of 10 children. Maureen attended Reedsburg schools and received her teaching certificate at Sauk County Teachers College in 1949. She taught school for over 25 years predominately in the Catholic Parochial Schools in Beloit & Janesville, WI and in South Beloit, IL. She spoke fondly of her first year in teaching at a one room school house in Sauk County as her best teaching experience. She enjoyed working outside of the home after retiring from teaching at the family business Chekouras Furniture (Clinton, Janesville & Beloit, WI) and at Sergenian’s Floor Company in Madison. Even after retiring from business, she continued to volunteer as the Playground Supervisor at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic School. Maureen believed in having a purpose and to getting something accomplished each day.

Maureen moved to Beloit and married John E. Chekouras in 1952. They were married 62 years until his death in 2014. She was a devout Catholic, receiving her first sacraments at Sacred Heart Church in Reedsburg, WI, a member of St. Thomas Church and Our Lady of the Assumption Congregation in Beloit. Maureen’s greatest love of all was being with family and friends. The Byrnes’, Chekouras’, Bacon’s, CADS and beyond all knew that she deeply cared for them. Everyone was welcome at her home and she looked forward to gatherings at the holidays especially the annual Byrnes Family Reunion.

Maureen was preceded in death by: Her Mother – Mary (Clippert) Byrnes, Reedsburg, WI; Her Father – Patrick Byrnes, Reedsburg, WI; Siblings – Bernice (Byrnes) Fike - Beloit, WI; Bernard “Bernie” Byrnes – Waunakee, WI; Kathleen “Mickey” (Byrnes) Meister - Beloit, WI; Raymond “Ray” Byrnes – Mauston, WI; Donald “Donnie” Byrnes – Reedsburg, WI; James “Jimmy” Byrnes – Reedsburg, WI; Lawrence “Larry” Byrnes – Beloit, WI. Husband – John E. Chekouras – Beloit, WI; Son – John F. Chekouras – Thiensville, WI; Foster Son – Philip Bacon – Beloit, WI.

Maureen is survived by: Her daughter – Mary Chekouras Beardmore, Green Bay, WI; Daughters in Law – Rosemary (Broderick) Chekouras, Grafton, WI; Kris (Sands) Bacon, Beloit, WI; 8 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.

Maureen's Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 624 N. Willow St, Reedsburg, WI, on Friday, Sept. 21 with visitation at 11:00 am, 12:00 noon Mass, burial at Calvary Cemetery in Reedsburg and luncheon to follow.

Maureen's Memorial Mass will be 1:00 p.m. on Friday October 5, 2018 at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 2222 Shopiere Road, Beloit, WI with a brief reception to follow.

He was born on June 7, 1925, in Winfield Township, Sauk County, the son of Patrick and Mary (Clippert) Byrnes. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. After returning home he married Joyce Schara at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Baraboo, on Sept. 7, 1946. Don was a member of the DAV in Baraboo, the 40 & 8 and American Legion in Plain, VFW Post 1916 of Reedsburg and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Reedsburg; children, Diane (Dennis Tuff) Kaufman of Reedsburg, Donna (Jim) Pfaff of Rock Springs and James (LuAnn) Byrnes of LaValle; seven grandchildren, Brenda Kaufman of Reedsburg, Scott (Abbie) Kaufman of Baraboo, Tammy (John) Deering of North Freedom, Becky (Todd) Vondran of Rock Springs, JT Pfaff of Rock Springs, Sue (Kevin) Reich of Reedsburg and Tracey (Chad) Davis of Reedsburg; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bernard (Virginia) Byrnes of Waunakee and Patrick (Sandy) Byrnes of Milwaukee; sisters, Bernice (Norbert) Fike of Beloit, Maureen (John) Chekouras of Beloit and Patricia (Russ) Hale of Reedsburg; sister-in-law, Mary (Bob) Peiffer of Tomahawk; and nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Larry, James and Raymond; and a sister, Kathleen. The Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Thursday, March 17, 2005, at 11:30 a.m. in SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH with Father Thomas Monaghan officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery with military rites being accorded by the VFW Post 1916 of Reedsburg. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the FARBER FUNERAL HOME. A scripture service will be prayed at 4 p.m. Donald requested that memorials of remembrance be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in lieu of flowers.

She was born Feb. 5, 1921, in Reedsburg, Wis., the daughter of Patrick and Mary Clippert Byrnes.

Mickey married Peter Meister Nov. 22, 1939, in Reedsburg. He predeceased her March 30, 1989. Mickey was employed by Warner Electric Brake as an assembler. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, the Marian Guild, the Rock County Shamrock Club, the Beloit Eagles Lodge No. 557 and the Beloit Moose Lodge No. 191.

Survivors include her three daughters, Barbara (Gerald) Twentyman of San Francisco, Calif., Bonnie (Gary) Paul of Green Bay, and Pat (Michael) Strain of Beloit; two sons, John "Jack" (Joann) Meister, of Rockford, Ill., and James (Patrick McCreagh) Meister of San Francisco, Calif; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Bernice (Norbert) Fike of Beloit, Maureen (John) Chekouras of Beloit, Pat (Russ) Hale of Reedsburg, and Mary (Bob) Peiffer of Tomahawk; three brothers, Bernard (Virginia) Byrnes of Waunakee, Don (Joyce) Byrnes of Reedsburg, and Pat (Sandy) Byrnes of Milwaukee; sister-in-law, Helen (Ray) Byrnes of South Beloit, Ill; nieces and nephews; and special friends, Evie and Ken George.

She was predeceased by her parents; a grandson, Tony Meister; and three brothers, Raymond, Larry, and Jim.

Prayer services will be 9:45 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2003, at DALEY-MURPHY-WISCH AND ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at ST. JUDE CATHOLIC CHURCH, with Father Steve Kortendick officiating. Burial will be in Mount Thabor Cemetery.
