He was born in Baraboo on Jan. 17, 1943, to the late Lawrence C. and Augusta I. (Breunig) Zins. Larry graduated from Sauk City High School in 1961. Following high school, Larry enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard Unit. He married Diane C. Hutter on July 25, 1964. Larry was a meat cutter for many years, getting his start in 8th grade at the J&T Supermarket in Sauk City. He and his brother in-law, Gary Janzen, later purchased that market and owned and operated the Super Valu in Sauk City for many years. Larry continued his career as a meat cutter until he retired. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and most of all, looked forward to spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Diane of Prairie du Sac; his three children, Lauri (Mike) Meixelsperger of Prairie du Sac, Steve (Angie) Zins of Sauk City, and Christina (Cheyene) Grow of Manitou Springs, Colo; five grandchildren, Carina and Kyle Meixelsperger, Katie and Emily Zins, and Grant Grow; two sisters, Bev (Don) Zander and Diane (Gary) Janzen; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, 251 Water St., Sauk City, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. A celebration of life and eulogy service will follow at the LAKE WISCONSIN COUNTRY CLUB, N. 1076 Golf Road, Prairie du Sac, starting at 2 p.m. Memorials may be given in Larry's name to Home Health United Hospice. Zins, age 52, of Prairie du Sac passed away peacefully with the comfort of his daughters and other family members at his side at Sauk Prairie Hospital on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023. Steve was born Jan. 13, 1971 to Lawrence “Larry” and Diane (Hutter) Zins. He attended Sauk Prairie schools; following high school Steve started his career as heavy equipment operator. His talent and skill with an excavator were admired by many and he was recruited for many building plans and jobs. Steve was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 139. Steve enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, ice fishing and fishing; spending time on the lower Wisconsin River with his friends and special cousin, Randy “the brother he never had”. Steve was a father to Katie and Emily and would often hurry home or drop what he was doing to attend their school and extra cirricular events. He looked forward to time with his girls and family, but also had a love for his dogs and was always looking forward to walking Copper and Jax with his daughters.

Steve is survived by his daughter’s, Katie and Emily Zins; his mom, Diane Zins; sisters, Lauri (Mike) Meixelsperger and their children, Carina and Kyle; and Christina (Cheyene) Grow and their son, Grant; and the mother of his girls, Angie Zins. He is further survived by other relatives and his many friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his dad, Lawrence “Larry” Zins.

A Celebration of Steve’s Life will be held at the Dorf Haus, 8931 County Hwy Y Roxbury, on Thursday, Jan. 4th, 2023 starting at 4pm to 7pm, with a moment of reflection at 5pm.

Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Barbara; children, Jolene (Robert) Reinart of Beloit, WI, Bradley (Samatha) Anderson of South Beloit, IL, Tami (Mark) Rand of Beloit, WI; grandchildren, Nicholas and Taelor Reinart, Grant and Emily Anderson, Gannon and Brady Rand; mother, Evelyn Marie Anderson of South, Beloit, IL; sister, Elena (George) Thomas of South Beloit, IL; brother, Richard Anderson of Beloit, WI; sisters-in-law, Anne (Clifton) McGraw of Scottsdale, AZ and Janice (Scott) Snippen of Beloit, WI; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many special friends. She married her soul mate, Milford Anderson, on April 3, 1965 in South Beloit, IL. He predeceased her on January 27, 2005. Barb was employed by the South Beloit School District as a nurse's aide, Sears, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and Amelia's Bridal Shop. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, South Beloit, IL. Barb was the coordinator for the South Beloit brownie and girl scouts and was the 1990 class advisor for South Beloit. She enjoyed camping, going to car shows, singing and dancing, her red hat ladies, and many other family traditions. Her true love in life was her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren.
All who crossed paths with Barb knew that she lived her life to give to others. She continued her giving by enriching others through organ donation.

Robert served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII, serving in the South Pacific as a radio operator. He was a pipefitter with the Local Union No. 123 from Tampa. He was a member of VFW Post No. 7122 in Floral City. Robert enjoyed playing billiards, operating his Ham radio and reading. A master craftsman and avid woodworker, he built many beautiful items, including his own home. He was Lutheran by faith. Survivors include four children, Bobby (Peggy) Simpson, Homosassa, Dianna (Bill) Jaqua, Odessa, FL, Bert (Bobbi) Simpson, Lakewood Ranch, FL, and Laurie (Jim) Whittaker, Indian Harbour Beach, FL; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Bernice, on April 20, 1999, his brother Earl and his sister Violet. The family requests donations in Robert's name to The Humane Society of Citrus County, P.O. Box 2283, Inverness, FL 34451 in lieu of flowers.
