Vernon was born on May 25, 1940 to Willard & Leila (Rupp) Brink in Cuba City, WI. He married Helen M. Weber on June 17, 1961. He worked beside his dad when they hauled milk by the can and worked in the local mines. Vernon was very proud of his 38.5 year relationship employed at Truck Country in Shullsburg, WI & Dubuque, IA and all the customers and friends he served. He was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Benton Saddle Club and Lafayette County Mounted Patrol. Vernon enjoyed dancing, an avid Wisconsin Badgers & Green Bay Packers fan, great sense of humor (he was a jokester) and after riding horses for many years, he switched to riding around in his Ranger. But most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his family and friends; especially with his grandkids and great grandkids that he adored. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Vernon is survived by his 2 children: Carla Brink and Dale (Lorelei Ganshert) Brink of both of Leadmine, WI; special friend, Carol Bennett of Shullsburg, WI; 7 grandchildren: Steve Brink, Stephanie (Ryan) Kern, Shelby (Nick) Doyle, Shane, Sarah (Jeremy), Scott & Spencer Fink; 4 great grandchildren: Connor & Krew Doyle, Barrett Kern & Leila Richardson; 2 sisters: Marie (Ron) Wonders of Belleville, WI and Phyllis (Charles) Berning of Menominee, IL; a brother, Kenneth (Danette) Brink of Benton, WI; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, David (May 12, 1970) and a daughter, Ronda (December 14, 1979), Helen Brink (August 14, 2008) and his beloved horse, Bandit (Spring 2020).

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Benton, with the Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from * to 7 p.m. today, at Casey Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Benton, where a parish wake service will be at 3 p.m.

She was born on Sept. 29, 1943, in Cuba City, daughter of Walter J. and Catherine (Banfield) Weber. She married Vernon Brink on June 17, 1961.

Helen worked in food service for most of her life.

She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She made many doilies, afghans and comforters. She enjoyed spending time out on the farm and with friends, and was an avid supporter of the Benton Zephyrs. Helen loved gardening, cooking and most importantly, spending time with her grandchildren. They were her life.

Surviving are a daughter, Carla (Kevin) Fink, of Cuba City; a son, Dale (Kay) Brink, of Benton; her mother, Catherine Weber, of Cuba City; four sisters, Catherine (Jim) Cruse, of Janesville, Mary (Ralph) Bedard, of Ghernt, N.Y., Alyce (Doug) Sutter, of Luxemburg, Wis., and Doris (Mike) Alt, of Platteville; six brothers, Joe Weber, of Benton, Jim (Kathy) Weber, of Hazel Green, Charles (Betty) Weber, of Cuba City, Tom (Terry) Weber, of New Berlin, Pa., Dennis Weber, of Cuba City, and Walt (Shelley) Weber, of Shullsburg; seven grandchildren, Steve and Stephanie Brink, Shelby, Shane, Sarah, Scott and Spencer Fink; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Walter; a son, David, on May 12, 1970; and a daughter, Ronda, on Dec. 14, 1979.

Shirley enjoyed drawing and painting, cooking and baking, family history research, and learning new crafts. She was happiest when she was spending time with family, friends, and neighbors. Additionally, Shirley nourished her relationship with God throughout her entire life and was always proud of her religious beliefs.

Shirley is survived by her children Deborah Mueller (Eugene) of Shullsburg, Wisconsin, Rhonda Shafor (Mark) of Flagstaff, Arizona, Lisa Jersey (Ronald) of Henderson, Nevada, Jamie Empey (Richard) of Las Vegas, Nevada, and her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, and two children: Michael J. Rupp and Lori L. Forrester.
