Burial of the urn will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service on Wednesday at the church. The Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting with the services.

Inez Lucille (Larson) Harris was born December 6, 1921 in Yankton, South Dakota, to John J and Ida (Berg) Larson. She grew up in Yankton and graduated from Yankton High School in 1939. She attended Yankton College her freshman year and then the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and finished her education at the National Business Training School in Sioux City, Iowa in 1941. She married Ralph "Bud" Chamberlin in October of 1943 and had one daughter Diane Lucille. She married William Harris on November 29, 1947 and had 60 wonderful years together. Together they had two sons, John William and Lee Joseph. Inez held many office/administrative positions throughout her career, including Yankton College, USD and the Yankton Medical School. She moved to Pierre in 1979 and was the office manager at St. Mary's Hospital. She retired in 1982 and they then moved to Sioux Falls to be closer to their son, John. They returned to Yankton in 1994 and moved back into their home they continued to maintain all these years. After her retirement Inez began working for the South Dakota Magazine where she remained to 12 years.

Inez led a varied and interesting life and was always willing to go the extra mile in anything she was involved with. She was active in the Girl Scouts serving as leader, director and president. She was a former President of the Beadle PTA, one of the original organizers of the Banquet in Yankton and served as their secretary/treasurer for three years.

Inez and Bill were members of Christ Episcopal Church in Yankton and were very active in the church. Inez was elected to the State Episcopal Church Women Board and became president in 1979, serving in that capacity for four and a half years. During that time, she was elected to the National United Thank Offering Committee and President of Province IV, serving both for six years. She was then elected to the National Task Force on Women. All of these positions took Inez to almost every major city in the United States as well as England, Brazil, and Puerto Rico. Inez and Bill were both dubbed by the Chancellor of the Diocese as "Soldiers of the Episcopal Church."

She will be fondly remembered for her hospitality and willingness to cook or bake for any event, her selflessness in giving of her time and talents, as well as being the family historian.

Survivors include her three children: Diane Harris of Hamilton, Ohio; John Harris of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Lee Harris of Centerville, Minnesota; six grandchildren: Joe Harris, Michelle (Matt) Allison, Jason Harris, Jackie (Brad) Harris; Heidi (Bruce) Rice, and Jessica (Paul) Dunbar; 13 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister, Phyllis (Spencer) Berg of Washington, D.C; brother, Clifford "Kip" (Shirley) Larson of Yankton; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Harris; two brothers, Joe and Glen; and sister, Edith Pike.
