She enjoyed her grandchildren, playing cards and gardening. Her flower gardens were enjoyed by many. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include her 4 children, Dale (Pam), David (Pat), Kevin (Sue), Kimberly (Bill) Emerson, a daughter-in-law, Diane, 11 grandchildren, Alison (Stephen), Ana (Kevin), Michael, Matt (Jessica), Ryan (Alex), Ashley (Marlo), Brittney (Joe), Amber (John), Margaret, Alex and Michelle, 8 great grandchildren, a special nephew, Dan (Robin) Rothwell, 3 siblings, Virgil (Jan) Ruhland, Agnes Ballweg, Verda Rothwell, 2 sisters-in-law, Linda and Ann Ruhland, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bud, a son, Michael, 3 sisters, Leona Reisinger, Jeanette Masino, Delphine Reeve, 3 brothers, Victor, Harland and Reggie Ruhland.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 13, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Spring Green. Fr. John Silva will officiate with burial in the church cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at St. John’s Catholic Church from 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. and again on Friday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Mass.

She was born on August 9, 1934 in Plain, WI, the daughter of Alois and Christina (Schwartz) Ruhland.

Diane earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the Dominican College of Racine, and her Master’s Degree from the Roman Catholic University of Detroit Mercy. Diane was a caring and dedicated teacher for 40 years. She taught in Kenosha, Detroit, Little Chute and Racine and was a Principal for 9 years. She subsequently taught in the South Milwaukee Public School System, retiring from Blakewood Elementary School after 22 years. Six months ago she moved from West Allis to Verona, WI, to be closer to her sister, Josephine, and her niece, Kimberly and husband, Michael Grosse and their daughters.

Diane loved to travel. She cherished her frequent visits to family in Madison and Plain as well as her exciting cruises and trips to many countries with her friends. She was an avid Brewers fan who also enjoyed salmon fishing with her brother, attending symphony concerts, the theater, playing cards, “First Friday” dinners and weekly Bridge Club with her dear friends.

She is survived by a brother, Louis (Faith) Ruhland of Kelso, WA, a sister in law, Luena Meister of Plain, WI, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alois and Christina Ruhland, 4 sisters, Florence (Dave) Hogan, Irma (Wally) Haas, Bernadine (Cyril) Volk, Josephine (Walter) Dyke, 3 brothers, Edward (Lucy), Charles and Daniel Ruhland, and a sister in law, Edith Ruhland.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, February 15, 2019 at the Richardson Stafford Funeral Home in Spring Green, WI. Fr. John Silva will officiate, with burial at St Luke’s Cemetery in Plain.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 15, 2019 from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Edna Roessler, his wife, Beulah M. “Tootie” Roessler, a daughter, Rita Hess, a son, Joseph Roessler, four brothers, John, Tom, LaVerne and Francis “Fritz” Roessler.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Keyesville. Survivors include her husband, Raymond “Gene” Roessler; children, Mary Jane (Earl) “Cubby” Ruhland, Jean Ann (Dennis) Dankert, Francis (Jamie) Roessler, Patricia Roessler (Mike Jordan), Vickie (Jerry) Nachreiner, Alan (Diane) Roessler, Randy Roessler; 27 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; six brothers & sisters, Mary (Richard) Carver, Ronnie (Bonnie Bliss) Weitzel, Donnie (Millie Mildred) Weitzel, Eugene (Bonnie Schonenburger) Weitzel, Annamarie Casey, Judy (Larry Johnson) Marion; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Hess and a son, Joseph Roessler.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Booher of Viola; 4 children, Darrell (Dawn) Booher of Viola, Karine Booher of Viroqua, Allan Booher of Viroqua, Cheryl Booher of Chicago, IL; 7 grandchildren, Adam, Courtney, Austin, Robby, Paige, Reid, and Payten; a great grandson, Kyler; other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Viroqua with Fr. Janusz Kowalski officiating. Visitation will be held at church from 10:00 until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be held later at the Booher Cemetery in Forest Township, Richland County.

She was born September 17, 1957, the daughter of John Mirl and Margaret Madelyn (Mears) Oder. She married Howard Gifford of Plano, Illinois on October 1, 1983. She enjoyed traveling especially if it included long drives and camping, and was a great lover of animals and nature. She spent over 10 years at the Post Office baking almost daily for her coworkers and befriending those along her route that might need a helping hand.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Melissa Gifford and Rebekah “Beckie” Gifford both of Denver, CO, Teresa (Cameron) Honer of Richland Center, WI; 2 sons, Jackson Dearborn of Dodgeville, WI, Louis “Louie” Gifford of Richland Center, WI; 2 granddaughters, Alexandra “Lexi”, Mackenzie; 2 sisters, Florence “Kay” Oder and Nancy Kisting; and longtime partner Donald Mueller.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be held on February 4, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a time of sharing at 6:00 PM at Clary Memorial Funeral Home in Richland Center.

Death7 January 2019Michael L. Stoddard died on 7 January 2019 at age 76 Michael “Mike” L. Stoddard, age 76, passed away peacefully with his wife Laura at his side on January 7, 2019, at UW Hospital in Madison. He was born on November 16, 1942, in Richland Center, Wisconsin the son of Mike and Beulah (Sager) Stoddard. He graduated from Richland Center High School in 1960, the Richland County Teachers College and the University of WI-Platteville. He returned to Richland County to teach at Ithaca Public Schools for 33 1/2 years. Mike married the love of his life Laura Armstrong on August 4th, 1979. He had a great love for his black labs and his three toy poodles. Mike loved all sports and was inducted into the Ithaca Athletic Hall of Fame. He coached football, basketball, and track. He was an avid fan of the Badgers and Packers. Mike was a great hunter and was known as the Great Wautashi throughout the halls of Ithaca. He touched many lives with his infectious personality and was a role model to many within and outside his family. He had many adventures with his friends who remained lifelong friends. No matter what was happening in his life he always maintained his sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Stoddard, her parents, Ray and Therese Armstrong; two dogs, Sky and Joli; a sister, Ruth Schwerin (Dale Balsley); a cousin, Janet Munz (George Urguhart); brother-in-law, Mark (Ruth) Armstrong; sister-in-law, Mary Beth (John) Lund; nieces, nephews, and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jennie Lou McDougal.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 13, 2019, at the Clary Memorial Funeral Home in Richland Center. Pastor Craig Peach will officiate with burial in the Richland Center Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Clary Memorial Funeral Home on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 2:00 PM.
