After a year his ambition prompted him to accept an offer in the brick yards in the city of Chicago. About the year 1857 he came to this state (Iowa) and worked on a farm near Waukon. In July 1863, he was united in the bonds of holy matrimony with Miss Louise Krumme and they established their home on a farm three and a half miles east of Waukon. They lived on the farm until about nine years ago when they retired and moved to Waukon. Of the 12 children which God blessed their union, two daughters, one son and the mother have gone to their eternal home. Nine children, four daughters and five sons, still enjoy the father's presence in their midst. Mr. Klemme has proven himself an industrious citizen of this, his adopted country, and has been a kind neighbor and a friend in need. Although he has already seen 89 winters, Mr. Klemme is still hale and hearty and attends to the duties of the house, even to baking and other work incumbent upon the housewife. He enjoys nothing better than a visit with his children, relatives and friends whom he delights to tell of his early years in the state. On Christmas day, the sons and daughters as usual, braved the cold wintry air and gathered at his home to express the love and regard they have for him. Funeral Services Held On Monday Afternoon, Lifelong County Resident

Mrs. Charles H. Hoth, 73, a resident of Allamakee county throughout her lifetime and of Postville for the past 25 years, passed away last Friday evening at her home following a lingering illness. Funeral services were held at St. Paul's church Monday afternoon, the Rev. F. R. Ludwig officiating and interment was in Postville Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Carl Gipp, Elmer Gipp, Alvin Gipp, Arthur Klemme, Durwood Schutta, and Earl Sunderman.

The flower girls were Louise Erb, Leonora Heins, Catherine Staadt, Ida Gipp, Hazel Gipp, Mrs. Laura Russell, Mrs. Arthur Klemme and Mrs. Earl Sunderman.

Mrs. Hoth was born Feburary 9, 1869, as the daughter of Herman Klemme and Louise (Krumme) Klemme on a farm east of Waukon. One of a family of 12 children, she attended the rural school in the home district.

She was united in marriage with Charles H. Hoth on February 25, 1899, and to them four children were born, all of whom, together with her husband survive her.

Following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Hoth settled on a farm west of Postville, now occupied by R. C. Huebner and family. Later they lived at Waukon and came to Postville about 25 years ago.

Surviving her are her husband, four children, Elmer of Waukon, Clarence of Postville, Florence a teacher in the Elgin schools, and Hazel, Mrs. William Behrens, of Luana, five grandchildren, Charles and John Hoth, of Waukon, Mary Louise and Kathryn Boe Behrens of Luana, and Richard Hoth of Postville, abrother, Edward Klemme of Waukon, three sisters, Mrs. William Sunderman, of Waukon, Mrs, John Wirth of Salem, Oregon, and Mrs. Theodore Rumph of Waukon. Her parents, five brothers, and two sister have passed on.

Mrs. Hoth was an active member of St. Paul's church in Postville as well as of the Ladies' Aid society.

Minnie Klemme died on 29 October 1949 at age 72 Final rites for Mrs. William Sunderman were Tuesday afternoon from the Martin Brothers funeral home to the Zion Reformed Church. The Rev. Edmund Henning, pastor, officiated and burial was in the Oakland Cemetery. Mrs. Sunderman, 72, died Saturday at the Postville Hospital where she had been a patient since Aug. 8.

As Minnie Klemme she was born June 17, 1877 on a farm near Waukon, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodoren (Herman?) Klemme. Since her marriage to William Sunderman she had resided southeast of Waukon.

Besides her husband she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Gilbert Eadie, of near Rossville; a son, Earl, of Waukon; a sister, Mrs. Theodore Rumph, of Waukon; a brother, Edward Klemme, of Waukon, and four grandchildren.

John was born on July 14, 1939 to Henry and Margaret (Strampe) Jurgens in Paullina, Iowa. John was raised in the Lutheran faith in Paullina and graduated high school in 1957 before serving our country for 2 years in the Army. In 1960, he moved to Sioux City, IA and began his 35 year career as a Field Engineer for National Cash Register (NCR). This is also where he met the love of his life, Glenda Klemme, his wife of 47 years.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda; son, Kirk Jurgens and his wife Stephanie; children, Andrew (Drew), Jarron (Jay), and Cora - all of Brandon, SD; daughter, Wendi Kotlinsky and her husband Max; and sons, Alex John and Nikolas (Nik) of White Bear Lake, MN; brother, Michael Albers and his wife Sandy of Omaha; a sister, Diane Allen and her husband, Richard of Spencer, IA; and, of course, his beloved dog Einstein ("Steiner"); his "little sister" Jackie Murray, as well as a multitude of dear friends.

A celebration of John's life will be held on Thursday, May 25th at Miller Funeral Home - Southside Chapel at 7400 S. Minnesota Avenue. Service at 11:00 am followed by a light lunch. Private burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Akron.
