Death20 February 2014Constance Ruth Simon died on 20 February 2014 at age 67 Koni Mollet went to be with her Lord and Savior in the evening of February 20, 2014 surrounded by family and friends. Koni was born January 29, 1947, the oldest of four children of James and Elizabeth Simon. She attended Galesburg schools, graduating in 1965. Koni then attended Kellogg Community College and received her nursing degree. Through Koni's career as a nurse, she was well traveled while working for several area hospitals and nursing homes. This career sent her traveling to Florida and St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands just to name a couple. She surrounded herself with culture and great friends wherever she went. Koni often enjoyed the family reunions as well as painting, pottery, cooking, and spending time with her nieces. She was raised in the Baseline United Methodist Church and Galesburg United Methodist Church families whom she continued to keep in touch with throughout her life. Koni was preceded in death by her father and mother, James and Elizabeth, several aunts and uncles. She is survived by her brothers, David Simon and Ken Simon both of Galesburg, Dan (Myrna) Simon of Allegan; two nieces, Kristen (Ben) Allen of Houston, TX and Kassidy Simon of Galesburg.

Robert John Hendricks was born March 16, 1924 in rural Plymouth County, near Akron, Iowa, the son of Evert and Gladys (McMahon) Hendricks. He graduated from the Akron High School in 1942. He worked in a packing house in Sioux City before serving in the war. Bob served in the US Army as a parachutist in the Asiatic Pacific serving from March 2, 1945 to December 3, 1946. He was stationed with the 11th Airborne in Yamagata Sendai Headquarters on the island of Honshu in Japan for the occupation. Following his discharge, Bob began working for the railroad in Alcester and later for Cy Youngkin in the body shop in Hawarden, Iowa. Later he worked for Rex Truesdell.

Bob married Dorothy Johnson on September 11, 1947 at Beresford, South Dakota. Together they made their home in Hawarden where he owned and operated the B & B Body Shop from 1947 until retirement in 1986. Following his retirement, Bob worked part time for Sioux Fertilizer for many years.

He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hawarden, the Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Hawarden American Legion and the Alcester VFW. He enjoyed doing family genealogy and dancing with Dorothy.

Survivors include the love of his life, wife Dorothy; six children, Linda and Mick Mapes of Platte City, Missouri, Betty Helm of Pueblo, Colorado, Mike and Gita Hendricks of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Jane and Randy Larson of Hawarden, Julia and Mark Wells of Ireton, Iowa and Patrick and Mary Hendricks of Hawarden; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; his brother, Fay and Millie Hendricks of Alcester, South Dakota; and a brother-in-law, Ray Streeter of Columbus, Missouri.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim Hendricks; and his sister, Mary Jean Streeter.

December 22nd. Ruth was born September 17, 1929 at the Hansen family farm
in the original log house outside of Clearbrook, MN to Hans Andrew and Thora
(Thompson) Hansen. After completing high school in Clearbrook, Ruth spent 2
years at LBI (Lutheran Bible Institute) in Minneapolis MN and 2 years at
Bemidji State Teachers College to receive her teaching certificate. Ruth moved
to rural Beresford, SD to work as a house Mom at the Bethesda Children’s
home. It was in Beresford she met her future husband, Lloyd Frick.
They were married August 18th 1956.
It is an understatement to say Ruth was a loving wife to Lloyd and mother to
her 5 children. Her memory will be cherished by all those she took under her
wings from children who were friends of her children or little ones she babysat
and all those she mentored through the years. We are forever grateful to God for
our loving Christian parents. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd
in 1989.
