Margaret Ann Witt was born September 11, 1937 on a farm northeast of Alcester, South Dakota, the daughter of Clarence and Olga (Ness) Berg. She attended Buncombe #1 country school and graduated from Hawarden High School in 1955. She married Donald B. Witt on June 15, 1957 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden, Iowa. They made their home on a farm east of Hawarden.

Margaret was the secretary at the West Sioux Middle School for many years. Upon her retirement from West Sioux she worked part time at the Hawarden Regional Healthcare Clinic until being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in July of 2016.

Her husband Donald died on April 15, 2001. Margaret was a long-time member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, LCMS.

She is survived by her children, Gary (Jolayne) Witt of Hawarden, Roger (Colleen) Witt of Warren, Ohio and Brenda (Dennis) Liffengren of Faribault, Minnesota; grandchildren, Christan, Rory, Donald, Benjamin, and Samuel; 5 great-grandchildren; and a brother, John (Margaret) Berg of Omaha, Nebraska.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; and a brother, Owen Berg.

He married Dorothy Holtkamp on March 30, 1946 in Alcester. He worked as an agriculture and soil conservation grain inspector in conjunction with farming until his retirement in 1973.

Survivors include: son Lynden of Monument, Colo; daughter, Lorene Jakel of Manitowoc, Wis; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Dorothy; and four brothers, Ed and Bill Heiman and Albert and Henry Scheels.

She married Gus Heiman March 30, 1946, in Alcester. She was employed by the Corner Cafe in Alcester, and later by Otis Radio in Hawarden for 21 years.

She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, serving as a deaconess and member of the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the senior citizens center in Alcester.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Lynden of Monument, Colo; a daughter, Mrs. Ben (Lorene) Jakel of Manitouwac, Wis; five grandchildren; a great granddaughter; three brothers, Walt Holtkamp of Alcester; Wendell Holtkamp of Sioux City; and Herman Holtkamp of Hawarden; and a sister, Mrs. Burdette (Margaret) Heiman of Alcester.

He loved all the time he was able to spend on the water, especially on the Mississippi River which was his happy place. He enjoyed sharing his passion with his family and friends. Dick was a problem solver with a creative imagination and a can-do attitude. He enjoyed being Santa at the nursing homes at Christmas time. He enjoyed learning about history and bird watching. Dick cherished the time he was able to spend with his family, especially his grandsons.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 30, 2021 at the Pratt Memorial Chapel from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a Knights of Columbus Rosary to be prayed at 3:45 PM. Visitation will also be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 from 10:00 AM until the time of the mass at 11:00 AM. He farmed for many years until 1975, a couple years later he went to work for the Belmont and Platteville Dairies as a cheese maker. He was especially proud of being a foster grandparent. He was a member of Westview Methodist Church and Son’s of the American Legion. He enjoyed pitching horse shoes, a good game of euchre, fishing, and going to the Platteville Senior Center. David was an avid Packer fan.

David is survived by his three daughters, Elizabeth (Michael) Guyer, Laura (Jim) Chaffee, and Bernadette (Charles) Soltis; two grandsons, Kelly Soltis and Daniel Guyer, good friend, Mick Barnitz, whom David developed a friendship with these last years after Sara’s death; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara, infant son, Joseph William, his parents, son-in-law, Kim Tiedemann, brother, Robert, and sister, Rosemary Gevelinger.

Thomas Zinkula presiding, assisted by Deacons Bill Biver and Jim Thill. Visitation will be held at Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 John F. Kennedy Rd. on Friday, March 25th. A parish wake service will begin at 2:00 P.M. and visitation will continue until 8:00 P.M.
Virginia was born August 15th, 1925 in Dubuque, daughter of Frank and Anna (Kisting) Gereau. She graduated from St. Columbkille’s High School in 1943. She married Eldon A. ‘Fritz’ Biver on July 12th, 1947 at St. Columbkille’s Church in Dubuque. They have been faithful parishioners of Sacred Heart Parish in Dubuque for over 60 years where Virginia was a member of the Rosary Society.
Cherishing her life-long vocation as a wife and mother, Virginia also worked in the cafeteria at Hempstead High School for 20 years. She chaperoned with the Colt .45 (now Colts) Drum and Bugle Corps for 10 years and is a member of the Colts Hall of Fame.
Virginia was an avid bowler for fifty years and served for two years on the Dubuque Women’s Bowling Association Board of Directors. In 1964 she and her partner, Betty Schroeder, won the Dubuque City Doubles Bowling Tournament. She was also a member of the Dubuque 600 Club and bowled in a number of state and national tournaments.
She was a lifetime believer that the Cubs would actually win it all someday!
Surviving are her loving husband, Fritz, of 63 years; her 5 children, Deacon Bill (Sue) Biver, Bob (Linda) Biver, Barb (Tom) Callahan, John (Jolene) Biver and Tom (Lynn) Biver all of Dubuque; 18 grandchildren, Laurie (Brick) Jones, Mark (Staci) Biver, Jenni (John) Bauer, Matt Biver, Nick Biver, Jon Biver, Capt. Jim was born on September 15, 1950, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Leroy and Dorthy (Lynch) Mueller. He married Joan M. Vosberg on October 16, 1976, at St. Joseph’s Church, Sinsinawa, Wisconsin. She preceded him in death on February 8, 2011.

Jim enjoyed tractor pulls, working in the fields, driving his Bobcat, fixing equipment and doing anything that needed to be done on the farm along with sharing stories. He loved playing euchre at the kitchen table with his family and “extended family.” Jim also loved racing cars or racing his family members home. His grandpa nicknamed Jim “Jimmy Cricket.” To many more he was “Uncle Jim” or “Dad.”

Survivors include his children, Tami Mueller and Brian Mueller, both of Cuba City; his sisters, Elly (Artie) Mentz, Dubuque, and Karen (Merlin) Steffen, Peosta; and his brothers, Nick Mueller, and Dave (Dawn) Mueller, both of Dubuque.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Don and Eugene.
