Committal graveside services will be at 10:30 am Thursday March 27, 2014 at Mount Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors by Dubuque Marine Corps League.

Dan was born on September 24, 1965 in Dubuque the son of Paul and Rose Mary (McDermott) Rupp. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School and entered the U.S. Navy in January of 1987.

He served on the USS Eisenhower as an Electrical Technician with Air Traffic Control during Desert Shield and Desert Storm until January 1993. During his service he was awarded the Southwest Asia Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, Navy “E” Ribbon, and the National Defense Service Medal

Dan was a knowledgeable man in all aspects. He shared his talents in his work with Ken Mott and lastly with Crescent Electric Supply.

Dan was a positive person. He never judged anyone or had anything negative to say of anyone. He always found the good in people, he believe in God, prayer and miracles. Dan will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

He is survived by his mother Rose McDermott and his father Paul Rupp. His brothers Doug (Jane), Dave (Gina), and sister Barb (Don) Krieg. Aunts, uncles, several nieces and nephews, his many good friends especially David Hernandez of Texas and his beloved tiger cat “Max” whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents John and Virginia McDermott, paternal grandparents, Clarence and Barbara Rupp, two cousins Corina McDermott and David McDermott, aunts; Delores McDermott, Dorothy Echeagaray, and Delores Rupp, and his uncle Jim Rupp.

Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2016, at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road. Funeral services will be held immediately after the wake. Throughout her career in journalism, Pat worked at Brown Publishing, Telegraph Herald and after her retirement, wrote the DuTrac Community Credit Union Newsletter and originated the Preserving Memories Workshop. She was born on September 4, 1935, in Portland Oregon, the only child of William and Harriett (Hefferon) Gleeson. She grew up in East Dubuque, Illinois and attended The Academy of the Visitation in Dubuque, Iowa. She married the love of her life, James J. (Jim) Rupp on December 2, 1961, in Dubuque. He preceded her in death in 2005. Pat enjoyed reading and good conversation. She was a talented artist including oil and china painting and was an avid writer. Pat was known to be an elegant, classy lady and a true friend. She was willing to share her beautiful smile and outgoing personality with everyone she met. She loved to spend time with her friends and family, and especially the “lunch bunch sisters” and her significant other of six years, Charlie Kutsch. Surviving are three daughters, Missy (Greg) Tuthill and Marni (Joe) Schmit, both of Dubuque, and Tassie (Joe) Carter, of Sherrill, Iowa, and son Terry Rupp of Independence, Missouri. Her grandchildren added much joy to her life. They are Jennifer (Erik) Johnson, Trevor, Taylor and Jordan Tuthill, Maddie and Austin Schmit, Joshua, Noah and Aliyah Carter, Angel (Andrew) Halverson, Arin and Adam Rupp, and great-grandchildren Dakota, Landon, Ronin, and Meelo. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Jim Rupp, and son Michael Rupp.

She was born on August 23, 1948, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Edward and Dolores (Papenphien) Rupp. Diane graduated from Senior High in Dubuque.

On February 10, 1968, she was united in marriage to Leo Casper in Dubuque. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Grant County for 30 years. In December 1990, Leo and Diane retired from farming. Diane was employed at Fennimore Agri Systems, Lands End, and the Commission on Aging until her retirement in 2011. She was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster and Chapter H and Chapter I of GWRRA. Diane enjoyed sewing, eBay, gardening, visiting with family and friends and riding the motorcycle with Leo. She also enjoyed her Tuesday womens bowling league and the company of her two cats.

Survivors include her husband, Leo Casper, Lancaster; her son, Charles (Michelle) Casper, Bagley; daughter, Shelley Winders, Dyersville, IA; her father, Edward Rupp of Las Vegas, formerly of Dubuque, IA; step mother-in-law, Verna Casper, Fennimore; three grandchildren; three sisters, Janet Smith and Pat (David) Beals, all of Dubuque, IA; Debra Magenis-Koch, Hazel Green; special friend, Marlene Maurice, Lancaster; her two cats, Cocoa and Tinker; other relatives and many friends. Diane was preceded in death by her mother.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 14, 2012, at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Seipp officiating.
