A visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 21st 4-8pm at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Home in New Brighton (with sharing of memories at 7pm). A funeral mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Brighton on Saturday, Dec. 22nd at 10:30am with visitation one hour prior and a luncheon to immediately follow. Mary was born in St. Cloud, MN on April 4, 1948 to Theodore and Jane Ostmoe. She grew up in Milaca, MN and later attended UMN Duluth, where she earned a degree in Home Economics. Mary married Dale DeVries in December, 1969 and they settled in New Brighton to raise their 3 children. She was a FACS teacher with the Minneapolis Public Schools for over 30 years, before enjoying retirement. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Dale; children Michael (Mary Sue) DeVries, Amy (Matt) Linabery, and Joel (Katie) DeVries; grandchildren Theodore and Thomas DeVries, Peter and Sadie Linabery, and Andrew and Lucy DeVries; siblings Paul (Linda) Ostmoe, John (Sandy) Ostmoe, Katie (Jim) Staska, and brother-in-law Bill Jarrells; several DeVries siblings-in-law; and many cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Jane Ostmoe; twin sister, Martha Jarrells; parents-in-laws Albert and Wilma DeVries; and many extended family members.
