Death12 October 2022Donald Pete Getschman died on 12 October 2022 at age 87 Donald "Pete" Getschman, age 87, of Baraboo, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at St. Clare Meadows Care Center. Donald, son of Rodney and Jessie (Bauer) Getschman was born Nov. 20, 1934. He was a graduate of Baraboo High School. After school he moved to Montana to live with his aunt and uncle and worked in a sawmill. After a car accident which hospitalized him for almost a year he recovered and worked at a dude ranch until his parents became ill. Pete moved back to Baraboo to care for his aging parents and to help with the family farm. He eventually retired from Pates Machinery in Baraboo. Pete loved the outdoors, he could often be found mushroom hunting and enjoying the peace and quiet.

He is survived by his siblings, Helen Standiford and Rex Getschman, many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Rodney Jr., Glen (Janet) and Ray (Kay) and his brother-in-law, Jim Standiford.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, 2022 at Redlin-Ertz Funeral Home with Pastor Carol Quinn officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Weitzel on March 14, 1964 in San Antonio, Texas at Our Lady of Grace Church, and settled in Baraboo, WI. She and William built several businesses together, had two sons, and raised their family. Mary was happily married to William Weitzel for 58 years at the time of her death.

Mary is survived by her husband, William Weitzel; her two sons, Adam Weitzel & Renee Weitzel and Aric Weitzel & significant other Jessica Smith; three granddaughters, Melanie Weitzel , Miranda Weitzel, and Alizebeth Weitzel; brothers, Edward Luther, Roy Luther, and Larry Luther; sisters, Viola Traziak, Irene Ruthersdorf, and Carol Luther as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Besides spending time with her family and friends, Mary had a passion for genealogy, family reunions, photo albums, Uno, and her faith in God. Mary was always praised by bankers and accountants for her excellent skills in bookkeeping, customer relations, real-estate knowledge, and tax preparation. Mary was a private person but joyful, kind, considerate, wise, and funny. Once she became your friend, you also became her family. She will always be remembered for her big heart for others, and her passion to ensure others were loved.

Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Saturday, January 29th, 2022 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Parish located at 300 2nd Street, Baraboo, WI 53913. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Daniel "Boone" was born April 22, 1943 to parents, Cyril and Bernadine (Rhuland) Volk. Dan was employed by Edward Kramer and Sons, Local 139 until his retirement. He proudly served in the US Army from October of 1960 until his honorable discharge in August of 1962 and was also a proud member of the Rock Crushers Local 139. He married his true love, Marie "Sue" and they started a beautiful family. Dan's interests stemmed from making NASCAR bets with friends, gun auctions, helping anyone in need, or shaking dice. His love was felt far and wide by everyone that he associated with. By far his biggest joy was spending time with his grand and great-grandchildren.

Dan is survived by his two daughters, Shannon Starling and Danna Rosenbaum; siblings, Mickey, Diane, Tammy; grandchildren, Shianne, Ciji, Danielle, Jordan, Caitlyn and Logan; partner, Charmaine Eichmann and 11 great-grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sue; siblings, Cyril, Charlie, Donna, Kenny; son-in-law, Randy Rosenbaum; and daughter, Kath-a-leen Starling.

A prayer service will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 12, noon with Father Jay Poster officiating at Redlin-Ertz Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.

Duane graduated in 1969 from Baraboo High School. He worked at Eagle Signal, Synergy, Baraboo Steel, Palmer Manufacturing, Servo and other places of employment. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage, he especially enjoyed a large collection of Economy garden tractors that he had. He would take five or six of his tractors to Steam and Gas shows in the summer months. Duane would participate in garden tractor pulls, just to see how much power they had. In the past he belonged to the Baraboo Snowmobile Club, where he groomed the trails. In his free time he also enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family.

He is survived by three sisters, Diana Mielke of Denzer, Donna (Walter) Ramsey of Baraboo, Darletta (Pastor Paul) Muehlbrad of Cuero, TX and two brothers, Dale Knuth of Baraboo and Dennis Knuth of Baraboo; brother-in-law, Dale Schwanke. He is also survived by six nieces and nephews and six great-nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer and Esther Knuth; brother-in-law, Daniel Mielke; and his sister, Debra Schwanke.

A memorial service will be held at Redlin-Ertz Funeral Home on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Karen Hofstad officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include her children, Ronald (Lori) Vorndran, Carol (Joseph) Hodgson, Sharon (Steve) Frisch, Jean (Lindsay) Faber, Joan (Mike) Carmody; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren all of whom she loved and cherished, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded by her parents, Anton and Regina Alt; her husband, Norman Vorndran; six brothers, Phillip, Andrew, Cyril, Alfred, Gilbert and Ted Alt; two sisters, Celia Meixelsperger and Bernice Halverson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Spring Green. Fr. Garrett Kau will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Mass.

Rosemary was born on April 14, 1939 at the family farm in Paris Township the 9th child of John Sr. and Rose Mae (Wunderlin) Reuter. “Pug” as so many called her farmed with her brother, Clinton, until his passing in Lima Township in 1998. On the farm she was like a vet in taking care of the livestock. She took care of many nieces and nephews in the summer as they enjoyed being on the farm. She also worked several years at Rural Route 1 in Livingston. Her biggest enjoyments were talking on the phone with family, dog sitting and her strong faith in the Lord.

Pug is survived by her sisters, Dorothy Klein, Velma (Leonard) Melssen and Anna (Eugene) Stelpflug; brother, John (Rose Marie) Reuter; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Matilda, Loretta (Emil) Miesen, Wilma (Joe) Fuerstenberg, brothers, Clinton, Clifford (Loretta) Reuter, brother-in-law, Herbert Klein and nieces Veronica and Patricia Fuerstenberg.

Mr. Baldasty was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish, the Eagles Lodge, Corbin Senior Center, Sinto Senior Center, the Whirl-aways Square Dance Club and the Model-T Square Dance Club.

Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Hazel Baldasty; three sons, Richard Baldasty of Spokane, Gerald Baldasty of Seattle and Lester Cingcade of Edmonds, Wash; two daughters, Carmen Cox of Oakland, Ore., and Jo Lehman of Spokane; a brother, William Baldasty of Spokane; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Passed away September 8, 2008 in Spokane. He was born March 26, 1916 and was a lifelong resident of the area. He graduated from Central Valley High School in 1933. During the 30's he worked for several area ranchers and underground at the Bunker Hill Mine in Kellogg, Idaho. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. He served with the Army Air Corps during WWII as an aircraft mechanic and was stationed in New Guinea and Luzan in the Philippines. After being discharged he worked as an auto mechanic for several years at Utter Cadillac and about 27 years at Barton Oldsmobile.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lola, several nephews and a niece.

Rite of Christian Burial will be Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 3:30 p.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel, 7200 N. Wall.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dickeyville, Wisconsin, with Rev. Bernard Rott officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City is assisting the family.

Rita was born on September 19, 1936, in Jackson County, Iowa, the daughter of Louis and Fern (Yarolem) Green. She married James Kieler on October 3, 1956, at St. Patrick’s Church in Dubuque, IA. He preceded her in death on January 29, 1990. She married Jerry Cassel on May 8, 1998. He preceded her in death on January 4, 2015.

Rita worked as a CNA for over 20 years for Southwest Health. She was a baker for 13 years at Dick’s Bakery in Platteville, instructed dance at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio, and worked as a secretary for an ad agency. Rita enjoyed her dogs, sunflowers, camping, fishing and dancing.

Survivors include three daughters, Ann Adams, Saline, MI, Beth Kieler, St. Ann, MO, and Aleta Kieler, Madison, WI; two sons, Victor (Joanne) Kieler and Ted Kieler, both of Platteville, WI; a brother, Francis Green, Minneapolis, MN; seven grandchildren, Kay (Kevin) Bausch, Greg (Abby) Dressler, Chris (Joe Lathrop) Dressler, Phillip (Molly) Kieler, Jessica (Andy Tomten) Kieler, Kianna Kieler, and James W. Adams; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a son-in-law, Jack W. Adams.
