D., Thursday, May 28,1942, at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 10 days. She had been in failing health during the past year. Ingeborg Solem, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arndt Solem, was born July 11, 1860, in Trondjhem, Norway. She come to this country with her parents at the age of nine. She was confirmed in the first class to study in Roseni Lutheran church and was the last surviving member of this early class. On January 2, 1880, she was married to Ole Wolden and made the farm their home.. Mr. Wolden preceded her in death in 1920. During her lifetime Mrs. Wolden made Brule Creek Lutheran church her church home. Those left to mourn her passing are a daughter, Mrs. Rena Asbjeld, and two sons, Anton and Severin, of Philip, S. D; a brother, Thomas Solem; 13 grandchildren, 12 greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews, Rev. I. L. Jacobson conducted funeral services Tuesday, May 26, at 1 p. m. In her home and at 5 p. m. in Brule, Creek Lutheran church. Pallbearers were Lloyd Offerdahl, John Solem, Albert Moberg, Herbert Wiberg, Thonnodsgard and Albert Abraham. She was laid to rest in Brule Creek cemetery, beside her husband.

Ray was raised on the farm, the seventh of nine children. He attended Starr School then worked his whole life as a farmer, from using horses to the most modern equipment. On June 30, 1952 he married Virginia Jacobsen. Virginia taught at Starr School where her husband and son both attended. Ray continued to farm until he was in his 80s. Following Virginia’s death in 2010, he continued to live in the home he was born in until this spring.

He loved playing baseball as a young man and then watching it with his grandson, James. He liked pitching horseshoes and bowling, but will be fondly remembered as being a good pinochle player.

Ray is survived by his son, Kevin Solberg and his wife, Patricia of Vermillion; granddaughter, Jenelle Solberg and grandson, James Solberg. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, his parents, three adult brothers, Oscar, Stanley and Judine “Shorty” Solberg; an adult sister, Sylvia Offerdahl; four infant siblings, one niece and one nephew.

Funeral services will be 2PM Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Roseni Lutheran Church, rural Beresford, SD. Visitation will be 6-8PM Friday at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with a prayer service at 7PM.

She worked for the Alcester Steakhouse for a few years and while employed there she was nominated and received the Employee of the Year Award. She also worked at the grocery store and then for 9 years at Custom Coil, retiring in March 2009 at the age of 82. Evelyn shared a home with her daughter Sherry and her husband Mike since 1996 and has lived there until the present time.

Evelyn was baptized and confirmed at Roseni Lutheran Church and was currently attending Nathanael Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, spending time with her friends and most of all being with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Stanley in 1993, a granddaughter Angie Peters, three brothers, Rodney and Darrell, and Palmer, her sister Adell Offerdahl, a special niece Nancy Rollins and a special nephew Steve Hanson.

Survivors include her daughter Sheryl (Mike) Peters; 3 grandchildren Jeff Peters, Tim (Holly) Peters and Tara Cerny; two great grandchildren Katelynn and Cody; a sister Lois Jensen and two brothers Robert and Kenny Hanson.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, December 29 at Nathanael Lutheran Church with burial to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 5PM to 7PM at Wass Funeral Home in Alcester.

The male quartet of the Roseni church sang several hymns. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Oscar Solberg, J. Solberg, Oscar Holthe, Ernest Johnson and Walter Fickbohm.
