He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Peter's Lutheran church. Survivors include his wife, Agnes, Route 1, Rock Springs, three sons, Edwin, Rock Springs, Marvin, Stoughton, and Walter H. Jr., Route 1, Rock Springs; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Elva) Acton, Loganville; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Elmer, Route 2, Reedsburg. One son, Allen, preceeded him in death in 1971. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 21 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran church, Reedsburg, with the Reverend Dennis Hipenbecker officiating. He was born on June 28, 1908 in Reedsburg, the son of William and Emma Klitzke. He was united in marriage on May 4, 1932 to Edna Schulze and were blessed to have 66 years together. They raised their four children on the family farm that Elmer was born on and farmed until 1960 when his son purchased the family farm. Elmer worked for Sauk County until his retirement in 1973. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. He is survived by his wife, Edna Klitzke of Reedsburg and children David Klitzke, Reedsburg, Dorothea (Phil) Frank, Laramie, Wyoming, Ellyn (Bill) Thompson, McFarland, and Evelyn Culles, Madison. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and dear friends. Funeral services for Elmer E. Klitzke will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, May 29, 1998 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Reedsburg with Reverend William Meilner officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Reedsburg. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thurday, May 28, 1998 at the Farber Funeral Home and on Friday from noon until the time of the service at the church. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Edward P. Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent. Memorials may be made to the Falls Cancer Club, P.O. Box 3244, Cuyahoga Falls, 44223.
