Dorothy was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Loganville where she sang in the church choir, was active in the women’s bible study and the quilting group. She enjoyed painting, gardening, embroidery and sewing. Survivors include two brothers-in-law: Adelmar Knuth, of Reedsburg and Norbert Paulus, of Spring Green; one sister-in-law: Nancy Thies, of Loveland, Colorado; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, August, on February 28, 1994; her daughter: Marilyn Thies; three sisters: Eugenia Paulus, Esther Knuth and Emma Knuth; and one brother: Alfred Meyer. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 23, 2009 at ST. PETER'S LUTHERAN CHURCH in Loganville with Pastor Christopher Miller officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday at the HOOF FUNERAL HOME in Reedsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Peter's Lutheran Church would be appreciated. The Hoof Funeral Home is serving the family.

    He is survived by his six children, 2 daughters, Gloria (Stu) Baker, Laguna Beach, Calif., Sharon Neuheisel, Prairie du Sac; 4 sons, David, Gary (Maggie) Rick (Cindy) Paulus all of Spring Green, Darrell (Cheryl Bluma) of Pewaukee; 6 grandchildren, Deanna (Falcon) Kosaraju (Ravi) Kosaraju, Troy (Dee Schoenberg) Neuheisel, Tysen (Deb) Neuheisel, Mindy Paulus, Gary Paulus Jr. and Rudy Paulus; 14 great grandchildren, Richard Falcon III, Nicolas Falcon, Maya Kosaraju, Paige, Bailey and Seth Neuheisel, Rachel Prem, Tiffany Neuheisel, Arlena Paulus, Armani Paulus, Angelica Rundle, Arron and Alyssa Mork, Arionna McCoy; and many nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his wife Eugenia, August 6, 2009, his parents, siblings; Herman & Thelma (Gray) Paulus, Roman "Pat" & Dorothea (Kiepert) Paulus, infant sister, Viola Anna Paulus, Alfrieda & Edward J. He was born on March 27, 1936, in the town of Westfield, Sauk County, to the former Etta Giese and lived his entire life in the Loganville area. He was a bus driver for the School District of Reedsburg until the early 1980s. For many years he raised laying hens and was a mass egg producer. Along with raising chickens, he cash cropped until 1994, but remained active in the farming community. He attended many of the National Soybean Association conventions and served as a director for the Soybean Marketing Board. Roger was also a local beekeeper producing both honey and beeswax candles. He sold his products at several local grocery stores, the Dane County Farmer's Market; Wo-Zha-Wa Days; Cranfest; and many craft stores. He was a member of the Sauk-Columbia County Honey Producers Association and the Wisconsin Honey Producers Association. Roger most recently had a 10-year career with Fiskars in Sauk City where he truly enjoyed his work and had many close friends. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. In August 1965, he was married to the former Judy Mae Peper. In 1994, Judy chose to leave the relationship in pursuit of other interests. To this union two daughters were born, Lora Marshall of LaValle, and Jennifer Giese of Baraboo. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Nicole, Katie and Travis Marshall, whom he enjoyed spoiling. He is further survived by a sister, Mary (Harold) Fuller of Winthrop Harbor, Ill; two brothers, John (Jae) Liegel of Roy, Utah, and David (Lori) Liegel of Reedsburg; and several nieces and nephews whom all loved him and will miss "Uncle Rog." He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Etta and LeRoy Liegel; and a brother, James Liegel. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, at ST. PETER'S LUTHERAN CHURCH in Loganville with the Rev. Ronald Rasmussen officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
