M, b. 18 October 1936, d. 11 June 2017
Father*Joseph N. Faber b. c 1896
Mother*Marie J. Wiedenfeld b. c 1903
  • Jerry E. Faber was born on 18 October 1936 at Wisconsin.
  • He was the son of Joseph N. Faber and Marie J. Wiedenfeld.
  • Jerry E. Faber died on 11 June 2017 at age 80 Jerry Faber, age 80, of Lone Rock, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 11, 2017, at UW Hospital. He was born on Oct 18, 1936, the son of Joseph and Marie (Wiedenfeld) Faber. Jerry attended Holy Cross Seminary for 3 years, then being a “Gift to the Ladies” (according to his yearbook), he was welcomed into his senior year into Ithaca High School and graduated in 1954. He married the “love of his life” Dori Bindl at St. Killian’s Catholic Church on July 31, 1965.

Jerry Faber proudly ran a 300-acre dairy farm in the beautiful valley of Jaquish Hollow. Every acre had a touch of his creativity and love of craftsmanship. From the Frank Lloyd Wright inspired home and gazebo that he designed and built by hand, to the farm pond he dug out himself so he could go have summer swims and fireworks with his family, to the outdoor trails he carved through the woods so his children could race on dune buggies, he truly created a farm that was an experience, for his wife, his family, his herd, and his legacy.

He carried these values with him when he and Dori sold their dairy farm and retired in 2007 to enjoy a quiet life in the woods of Lone Rock. He threw out his alarm clock and never looked back. Rooted in hard work, quiet generosity, and a determination that only a dairy farmer could have, Jerry lived each day with a full heart, a boisterous laugh, and ideally with the top down in his convertible after a swim in his pool till his final days.

Here’s to you our lovey, Dad, Papa, Bracka, Lolo, and Grandpa. You’ll be in our hearts forever.

Surviving include his devoted wife of 51 years, Dori (Bindl); his sons, Barry (Cyril) and Darek (Kari); his daughters, Deanna (John) and Jenny (Ryan); his grandchildren Madilyn (Nick), David (Alexis), Rylee, Jordan, Kendall, Cree, Chay, Coen, and Cora Faber; his brothers Norman (Marie), Fran (Sue), LaVerne (Donna); his sisters Sharon Lampman, Imelda (Harry) McCarthy, Mary Shields, and Colleen (Bob) Hargrave, as well as 3 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way. Many neighbors and friends survive him.

He was pre-deceased by his father, Joseph; his mother, Marie; his sisters, Eileen Eberle, Genevieve Faber; and his brothers, Wayne, Father Emmett, and John.

A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Clary Memorial Funeral Home in Richland Center. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.

  • Bertha M. Ring died on 27 June 2009 at age 90 Our beloved mother, Bertha M. Rieder, age 90 of Plain, passed away very peacefully in the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 27, 2009. She was born on Jan. 2, 1919, in the village of Plain to Margaret (Nachreiner) and William Ring. She was united in marriage to Donald Rieder on Nov. 16, 1938, at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Plain. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald on March 7, 1984, as well as her parents and an infant sister, Philomena and brothers-in-law, Lucian Bowar, Edward Liegel, Victor Bindl and several other nieces and nephews. She is survived by her nine children, Harvey (Jean) Rieder, Stanley Rieder, Donna (Lee) Schultz, Dennis (Carol) Rieder, Mary (Pete) Schutz, Gilbert (Ruthie) Rieder, Thomas (Teresa) Rieder, Philomena (Paul) Endres and Arline (Joe) Hess; 25 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four sisters; and a brother, all of whom loved and cherished her, and will continue to in memory and in our hearts. She was involved in her church circle, Council of Catholic Women (CCW), taught religious education, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Mom always loved to draw old barns, write stories about her happy childhood on the farm with her parents and siblings, play cards, and enjoyed flowers of all kinds. She loved to cook and bake, especially her famous cinnamon rolls, of which we all have our own story. She loved to walk barefoot, sing songs and sit on her front porch. Among Mom's many legacies she has left to us, her nine children, and all that knew and loved her, is her example of deep faith and trust in our Lord, as well as her strength of character, values, morals and above all, love. Although Mom is now just beginning a new life in Heaven, we will carry on that legacy to our own children and all we come in contact with. We will spread a little bit of her uniqueness throughout all of our lives, as a lasting tribute to her. She is already deeply missed. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 1, 2009, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a rosary following at ST. LUKE'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Plain. A mass of christian burial will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Father Mike Resop officiating; preceded by visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church.

Married Name30 December 1940As of 30 December 1940,her married name was Sprecher.
  • Florence C. Ederer was born on 8 March 1920 at Sauk, Wisconsin.
  • She was the daughter of John N. Ederer and Margaret C. Schutz.
  • Florence C. Ederer married Harlan J. Sprecher, son of Arthur Roy Sprecher and Ethel Strait, on 30 December 1940.
  • Florence C. Ederer died on 30 July 2017 at age 97 Florence Clara (Ederer) Sprecher, age 97, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Greenway Manor in Spring Green. She was born on March 8, 1920, in Sauk County, Wisconsin, to John and Margaret (Schutz) Ederer.

Florence married Harlan (Chunk) Sprecher on December 30, 1940. They lived, worked, laughed, and loved together for almost 65 years, farming for more than 50 of those years. She was a proud member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Spring Green.

Florence’s pride and joy was her family, as anyone who visited her could see from the multitude of pictures on her walls! Together, she and Harlan raised ten children on several farms in the Spring Green area. Some of her sons continue working those farms today.

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren always referred to her as ‘Gram,’ and Harlan was ‘Pop.’ When you made a visit to Gram and Pop’s home, you never left without having a meal or sweet treat. Gram loved to garden, cook, and bake. Harlan and Florence took great pride in their vegetable garden; her grandchildren have fond memories of snipping beans (and sneaking some to eat) with her. Gram and Pop’s food cellar contained many quarts of tomato juice, dill pickles, sauerkraut, and various canned fruits. Her baking specialties were raised donuts fried in lard, homemade cinnamon rolls, Christmas cookies, apple pies, and angel food cakes. She often had “help” in the kitchen from the younger members of the family! The grandkids also loved having sleepovers at Gram and Pop’s house, which always included having strawberries and milk with her homemade bread at breakfast. Euchre has been a solid Ederer/Sprecher family tradition since the beginning of time, and Gram was the best: If you played against her – it didn’t matter who her partner was – you were going to lose.

Florence’s faith was also very important to her. You could often find her in her chair holding her rosary and praying. Christmas has always been a major holiday for the Sprechers; every year, Gram went all-out to decorate the house, complete with not just one but TWO trees, at least one Holy Family display, yards of tinsel, and a myriad of ornaments, many of which are now extraordinary antiques. Naturally, there were the aforementioned cakes, pies, cookies, and doughnuts in abundance! Gram would also prepare goodie bags for the grands and great-grands and organize a visit from Santa.

Survivors include eight children: Jim (Caryl) Sprecher, Jerry (Peg) Sprecher, Jerome (Peggy Mockler) Sprecher, Jeff (Joan) Sprecher, of all Spring Green, Jannie Wille of Oregon, Joannie (Tim) Harrington of Arena, Jeanette Sprecher of Madison, and Joyce (Herb) Portz of Poynette; 19 grandchildren: Jacky Brings, Joette (Brad) Warren, Janelle (Terry) Siske, David Sprecher, Joni Sprecher, Marty (friend Sonja) Sprecher, Cheri (Tim) Jordan, Freeman (Lindsay Craig) Nelson, Jamie (Jen) Nelson, Michelle (Jeff) Weiss, Jason Sprecher, Bradley (friend Amanda) Wille, Stephanie (Alex) Johnson, Amery Harrington, Alex Harrington, Justin Pharo, Jarad Pharo, Marcus (fiancé Laura Senz) Portz, and Eric (Susan) Portz; 21 great-grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 22 step great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law, JoAnne (Ted) Hosking, Mazomanie, son-in-law Freeman (Kathy) Nelson, Nova Scotia, Canada; sister Kathleen (Gerald) Meise; sister-in-law Caroline Ederer, brother-in-law Milton Sprecher, and sister-in-law Lorna Anderson and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents John and Margaret Ederer; husband, Harlan Sprecher; son, John Sprecher, daughter, Juliene Nelson; daughter-in-law Vicki Sprecher, son-in-law Gary Wille; grandson Bob Brings; brothers: Alfred Ederer, Leo Ederer, Charlie Ederer, sister Loretta Scholl, brothers-in-law: Orville Sprecher, Ervin Sprecher, Marvin Sprecher, Walter Sprecher, Bob Erickson, Wayne Anderson, Leo Scholl, sisters-in-law: Molly Sprecher, Lorene Sprecher, Fern Sprecher, Buelah Sprecher, Arline Pace, Lorene Erickson, Shirley Sprecher, and Lucy Ederer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 11:00am at St. John’s Catholic Church, 209 N. Washington St., Spring Green, WI 53588. Fr. Lorene Clara Fuchs

F, b. 29 October 1918, d. 16 July 2015
Father*Herman Fuchs
Mother*Kate Fischer
Name TypeDateDescription
Married Name20 December 1937As of 20 December 1937,her married name was Sprecher.
  • Lorene Clara Fuchs was born on 29 October 1918 at Wisconsin.
  • She was the daughter of Herman Fuchs and Kate Fischer.
  • Lorene Clara Fuchs married Ervin Sprecher, son of Arthur Roy Sprecher and Ethel Strait, on 20 December 1937.
  • Lorene Clara Fuchs died on 16 July 2015 at age 96 Lorene Clara Sprecher, age 96, was reunited with her beloved in Heaven on July 16, 2015. She was born at home in the Town of Troy on Oct. 29, 1918, to Herman and Kate (Fischer) Fuchs. Lorene lived a quiet life on the farm until the age of 7. When she was 7, she went from being an only child to being one of five children when her cousins came to live with her family. Although a huge change, she accepted and loved her new "siblings". Such unconditional love was a trait she displayed throughout her life.

While attending school, at the tender age of 11, Lorene met her beloved, Ervin Sprecher. They shared their first kiss on the school steps when she was 13, married when she was 19, and went on to share a remarkable love and life together for the next 69 years. Lorene lived 94 of her 96 years on the same farm where she was born. She and Erv moved in with her parents, where they lived and farmed together. She was proud in all their years together that "never a harsh or angry word was spoken".

Lorene's greatest joy and love was her family. When she was 41, she thought she was suffering from a touch of the flu. Nine months later she was blessed with her only child, a son who was the light of her life. Many years later she was once again blessed by the addition of a daughter-in-law and finally, at age 81, her first grandchild was born. Two more grandchildren followed. They were her pride and joy.

Lorene was the ultimate homemaker. She spent her life caring for her home, family and the many, many visitors who were regularly at the farm. The kitchen table was always full.

Lorene enjoyed spending time with family and friends, baking/cooking, Saturday night dances, her farm cats, and trips to Ho-Chunk where more often than not she returned a winner. She had a love and knack for playing cards, maintaining involvement in several card clubs her entire adult life. Lorene spent countless hours contributing to the farm effort, whether it be driving the tractor or lawn mower, preparing expansive meals for workers, or doing whatever was needed, always without question or hesitation. Known for her positive determination, Lorene rarely failed to succeed in accomplishing pursuits she felt were in the best interest of others or the farm she loved so dearly. She maintained a strong affiliation with the church throughout her life, with her faith always at the forefront of her personality, manner, and way of life.

Lorene is survived by her son, Scott (Crystal) of Cross Plains; three grandchildren, Brock, Rachel and Lucas; a special friend, Jim Keck; one sister, Lucile (Diehl) Coenen of Sauk City; one brother, Roger Diehl of Sauk City; two sisters-in-law, Lorna (Sprecher) Anderson of Sauk City, and Florence Sprecher of Spring Green; and two brothers-in-law, Walter (Buelah) Sprecher of Prairie du Sac, and Milton Sprecher of Spring Green. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Erv; two brothers, Albert (Margaret) Diehl and John (Shirley) Diehl; four sisters-in-law, Margaret Diehl, Lorene (Bob) Erickson, Arline Pace, and Shirley Sprecher; and five brothers-in-law, Sylvester "Doc" Coenen, Harlan Sprecher, Orville (Molly) Sprecher, Marvin "Brownie" (Fern) Sprecher, and Wayne Anderson.
