Tringe, Sr., formerly of Pratt St., Norwich, died Feb. 25, 2009 in Holdrege, NE. She was born in Norwich on Sept. 8, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Colletti) Cellucci. In 1934 she was united in marriage to William A. Tringe, Sr. who died August 1, 1992. Mary loved to work with her hands, hooking and braiding rugs, crocheting, and was also an avid vegetable gardener. She enjoyed canning vegetables and making jams and jellies from wild grapes, elderberries and chokecherries. She worked at a textile mill for several years before she was married. After marriage she was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her children. She was an active member of the P.T.A. at Greenville Grammar School, the Mount Carmel Society of St. Patrick Cathedral, and the Rosary Society at St. Mary Church. When she returned to work her most enjoyable years were spent at the Navick Brothers Leader Store in Norwich, where she worked until her retirement at the age of 86. She enjoyed working with customers and with all of the Navick family who worked at the store. She enjoyed cooking and her many unique recipes for Italian rolled cookies, anise cookies and torpedo sauce, are still prized and used today by her family and friends. As much as she enjoyed her extended family, she also enjoyed time with her many friends. After she moved from the family home on Pratt St., Mary lived in Bartlett, N.H. with her daughter Lil Tringe and Lorraine Kirkpatrick, then in Blue Diamond, NV with her daughter Pat and Herman van Betten. In 2005 she lived in assisted living at Holdrege Memorial Homes near her son Bill and Sheila Tringe. Mary is survived by her three children: Patricia van Betten of Blue Diamond, NV, Lillian Tringe of Bartlett, N.H., and William Tringe of Holdrege, NE, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one sister Loretta Shillo, a brother in law Michael Luty, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. There will be no visitation as the family is honoring her wishes for cremation. A Memorial Mass will take place on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Church, Norwich. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Mary Church, 70 Central Ave., Norwich, CT. 06360. Local arrangements by Labenski Funeral Home.

Arlyn was a longtime employee for the State of Wisconsin (17 years), volunteered countless hours at Meriter Hospital and most recently enjoyed her employment at Goodwill. In her spare time she enjoyed bowling, sewing and most of all spending time with family and friends.
Arlyn is survived by her husband, Jerry "Peachy" Friede; her daughter, Tracy (Tim) Hayden; granddaughter, Taylor; her brother, Dennis Watrud; sister, Cindy Watrud; sister-in-law, Mary Watrud; nephew, James Watrud; niece, Amalia Watrud and her two four legged companions , Marilyn and Sammy. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
A formal blessing of Arlyn's life will be held at The Willow's, 5485 Willow Road, Waunakee on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 1:00 pm with Father Mike Tess officiating. Family and friends can continue to gather until 6:00 pm. "Forever in our hearts."
