Howard was born November 15, 1922 at Ravina, South Dakota to Donald & Fannie (Tiege) Sadler. He loved playing baseball and he played on a semi-pro team when he was 15 years old. He graduated from Washta High School in 1941. He was married to LaVonne Robeson on August 22, 1941 at Cherokee, Iowa when he started farming. He drove truck and hauled water for his neighbors. He farmed east of Washta and then in Grand Meadow until 1981, when he moved to Cherokee where he worked for Johnson Machine Shop, Wilson Foods, the Cherokee Community Schools as a custodian and bus driver from which he retired in 2001. He was a member of the Meadow Star United Methodist Church until 1981 and was presently a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee. Howard had served on the Grand Meadow School Board, the Cherokee County School Board, and the Meadow Star United Methodist Church Board. Howard enjoyed golfing, baseball, camping and traveling throughout the United States. He most cherished his wife and family and he especially loved his Black Angus Herd.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and 3 sisters.

He is survived by his wife, LaVonne of Hartley; his children Ronny (Sharon) Sadler of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Konny (Nick) Droegmiller of Alta, Iowa; Bonny (Duane) Wittkop of Tonganoxie, Kansas; Donny (Denise) Sadler of Hartley, Iowa; 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and one sister, Mary in California, and several nieces and nephews.

She courageously battled a form of Lou Gehrig's disease. The disease took a lot away but never took away her smile or sense of humor. A prayer service will be held on Wednesday, January 19th, starting at 6 PM. Memorial services will be held Thursday, January 20th, at 2 PM. Both service locations are at the Alcester Baptist Church. Grace was born to Olaf and Rose Jamtgaard on October 3, 1927. She was confirmed in the Peace Lutheran Church. Grace attended Alcester High School and graduated in 1945 as Valedictorian of her class. She attended General Beadle College and graduated with an elementary education certificate. Upon graduation, she took a job teaching at the Ludwig Country School where she was the teaching marme for two years. Grace married Robert Hammitt in May of 1949. To this union, four children were born. Naomi (Keiser), David, Patricia (Jurrens), and Scott. Grace worked a few jobs when she wasn't assisting Bob in managing their trucking company or dairy farm or being "The Egg Lady". She was employed by Custom Coils (Hawarden), H&N Store (Alcester), the State Bank of Alcester, and Lighthouse Point Campground (Pierre). Grace loved life. She loved people and people loved her! She enjoyed being outdoors. In addition to spending time with family, she thoroughly enjoyed fishing, gardening, mowing, snow birding in AZ, games with the family, and baking"making sure everyone had enough to eat! Those preceding her in death were her parents, Olaf and Rose (Buum) Jamtgaard, her brothers, Eldon and Marvin Jamtgaard, and son Scott Hammitt. Among those who survive and gratefully shared her life are Bob (husband), Naomi (Comet Haraldson) Keiser, David (Jill) Hammitt, Pat (Dale) Jurrens, sisters-in-law Martha Jamtgaard, Margaret (Donald) Hammitt, and Connie (Don) Vetos, 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
The Hammitt family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Gwen and Anne, Sanford Hospice Staff of Vermillion, for their superb care and friendship.

Survivors include two sons, William Jr., of Chatsworth and Wayne of Glascow, Mont; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Archie grew up on a farm near Spink, SD and graduated from Elk Point High School in 1944. He joined the United States Army and was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii. He married Arlene Fish on October 14, 1946 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elk Point.
He farmed in Union and Lincoln Counties for several years before working for the Lincoln County ASCS and later was a meat inspector for the United Stated Dept. of Agriculture. He retired with a medical disability in 1981 following surgery for a brain tumor.
He was a member of Eastside Lutheran Church and volunteered for over 25 years at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls where he made many lasting friends.
Archie lived for many years in the Crescent Villa Apartments before moving to Good Samaritan Village in July 2014. He loved playing cards and board games as well as writing letters and receiving mail.
Among those who survive and who gratefully shared his life are three sons; Bob (Barb) Satter of Irene, SD, Craig Satter of Hermiston, OR, Bryce (Connie) Satter of Greenville, TX, one daughter, Tricia (Mike) Thibodeaux of Spring, TX, and one daughter-in-law, Jennifer Satter Bowes of Brookings, SD. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one sister, Ardis Leyman of Long Beach, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gary; two brothers, Luverne and Eldon; and one sister, Leone.
