She was born on March 24, 1929, in Chicago, the only child of Waldemar and Meta (Adamitz) Zeinzinger. She was a graduate of Valparaiso University where she met Paul "P.J." Halvensleben; they were married at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Chicago on Dec. 25, 1950. Over time, their Christmas Day Anniversary Open House became a gala for family and friends. She was active in Summer Stock, building and painting sets, acting and directing. For 29 years she taught at Immanuel Lutheran School in Crystal Lake, where she also directed musical programs and drama presentations for her church. She and P.J. had lived in Amman, Jordan and traveled throughout the Middle East, developing a love for the Arab people. They also supported a foster child through the World Children's Fund and supported many other charities. She was an accomplished cook and gardener, was an avid reader and enjoyed painting. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Johanna (Paul) Kiefner of Groton, MA, and Christine (Richard "Sid") Sabatka of Crystal Lake; 2 grandchildren, Nate Beicke of Austin, TX, and Brennan McGinnis of Ashland, OR; 2 stepgrandchildren, Megan (Joe) Merryman of Harvard, IL, and Matthew Sabatka of Crystal Lake; a stepgreat-granddaughter, Clare Merryman; and a niece and nephew, Mary and Karl Loucks. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Paul "P.J." Halvensleben on Sept. 7, 1997. Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. on Monday, May 30, 2005, at the QUERHAMMER & FLAGG FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, IL 60014. Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 178 McHenry Ave., Crystal Lake, IL 60014. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brother-in-law, Paul Halvensleben. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, in the NEWARK Cemetery . Schoenfeld Funeral Home , 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit, is assisting the family. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Beloit regional Hospice.

Bill was born on June 15, 1938 in Richland Center, the son of Arthur and Evelyn (nee Hineman) Giese. He married Avonda Meyer on Oct. 3, 1959 at St. Peter's Church in Reedsburg. Bill had worked for Berning Implement in Reedsburg for 10 years. Following that, he was employed by the Town of Baraboo for 33 years. Although he retired in 1999, he continued to work for the Town part-time. Bill enjoyed woodworking and collecting old telephones and insulators. He is survived by his wife, Avonda Giese, Baraboo; his basset hound, Dylan; three brothers, Robert and David Giese, both of Loganville, and Dennis Giese, Prairie du Sac; a niece, Terri Molitor; a great-nephew, Dylan Molitor; aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 7, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Baraboo with Pastors Deb and Steve Ohrtman officiating. Friends may call today, Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Burial will be in the Rock Hill Cemetery. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
