He operated Traeder's Market in Reedsburg during the 1950's. He later worked as a supervisor at Gerber Products until his retirement in 1991. John was a lifelong member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church and a member of the Reedsburg American Legion and the V.F.W. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, reading, watching the birds and spending time with his granddaughters. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; his son and daughter-in-law: Paul and Jennifer Traeder, of Columbus; two granddaughters: Amelia and Kathryn; three sisters-in-law: Lorraine Traeder, Kathleen Swenink and Joan (Bruce) Elliott; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife: Imogene Traeder and his brother: William. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Reedsburg with Pastor David Glesne officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Reedsburg Area Veterans Honor Guard. There will be a visitation from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Saturday at the Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg and after 12 noon on Sunday at the church. The Hoof Funeral Home is serving the family.
