This marriage was blessed with two children. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hillpoint for over 70 years and belonged to their ladies aid group. She had been employed with the U.S. Postal Service in Hillpoint, Edward Kraemer and Sons and Badger Ordinance.

She enjoyed ice fishing, fishing in Canada, hunting, picking hickory nuts, mushroom hunting, word puzzles, feeding the birds and playing cards with her card club of over 40 years. She was a very caring mother and grandmother, who, liked to share her opinions with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford in January 1981; a son, David; her brothers, Roy, Lawrence and Harold Nachreiner and a sister, Esther.

She is survived by her son: Jerome (Nan) Schulz of Reedsburg

We honor her life with a funeral service on Thursday, January 3, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Hillpoint with Pastor Tim Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hillpoint. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the Farber Funeral Home from 4-8 P.M. and again at the church on Thursday from 10 AM until the time of service.

Death27 June 2011Gerald Francis Alt died on 27 June 2011 at age 81 Gerald F. Alt, age 81, of Platteville, formerly of Belmont, died on Monday, June 27, 2011, at Mercy Hospital, Dubuque. Gerald was born on April 28, 1930, in Grant County, the son of Charles and Rose (Vondra) Alt. He was united in marriage to Joyce Reed on Aug. 26, 1950, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Platteville. Gerald was a police officer for Belmont and also a deputy for Lafayette County. Gerald was a mechanic for many years for Belmont Equipment, until his retirement. After his retirement he was a currier for Clare Bank. He enjoyed woodworking, especially making things for his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church, Belmont. Gerald is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce of Platteville; four children, Terry Anne (Brian) Stannard of Madison, Pam (Doug A.) Nodolf of Belmont, Allen (Sonja) Alt of Monroe, and Susan (Doug O.) Nodolf of Platteville; 10 grandchildren, Nicole and Allison Stannard, Christa (Pete) Weghorn, Jaime (Tim Carey) Nodolf, JD (Niki) Nodolf, Danielle (Rusty) Lynch, Elise Alt, Jenny, Michael and Lisa Marie Nodolf; five great-grandchildren, Jade and Madison Nodolf, Makayla McVay, Brendan and Brock Lynch; three sisters, Rosella Farrey, Margaret (Frank) Tuetschman and Melita Oats; and three brothers, Merlin (Louise) Alt, Edwin (Anne) Alt and LeRoy (Modesta) Alt. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Douglas Michael in 1952; great-granddaughters, Faith Lynch and Samantha Nodolf-Carey; and three sisters, Marion Redfearn, Hildegard Wiegel and Arlene Hirsch. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011, at ST. PHILOMENA CATHOLIC CHURCH, Belmont. The Rev. Monte Robinson will officiate. Burial will be at the Belmont Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2011, at the MELBY-BENDORF FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY, Platteville, where there will be a Scripture wake service at 3:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday the church. Memorials may be made to the Gerald F. Alt Memorial Fund.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at Casey Funeral Home in Cuba City with Pastor Rodney Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Primitive Methodist Cemetery in Benton. Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Rosella was born on March 26, 1925, in Cuba City, Wisconsin, the daughter of Charles and Rosa (Vondra) Alt. She married Thomas E. Farrey on December 5, 1942. He preceded her in death on August 13, 1988.

Rosella enjoyed quilting, embroidery, gardening and her flowers.

Survivors include two daughters, Rose Mary (Richard) Burkholder, of Platteville, and Luanne (Kenneth) Stodden, of Neillsville; two sons, Thomas R. "Butch" Farrey, of Madison, and Dennis G. Farrey, of Leadmine; two sisters, Melita Oates, of Belvidere, Illinois, and Margaret (Frank) Teuschmann, of Shullsburg; three brothers, Merlin (Louise) Alt, of Benton, Edwin (Anne) Alt and LeRoy (Modesta) Alt, both of Caladonia, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Joyce Alt, of Platteville; fifteen grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Bette Jo Farrey; a brother, Gerald; and three sisters, Arlene, Marion and Hildegarde.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2013, at St. Patrick's Church in Benton with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cuba City. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Thursday at Casey Funeral Home in Cuba City where the parish wake service will be at 2:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home before the service.

Merlin was born on February 9, 1934, in Cuba City, Wisconsin, the son of Charles and Rose (Vondra) Alt. He married Louise Birkett on September 20, 1952, at St. Francis de Sales Church in Hazel Green. Merlin farmed for 17 years near Hazel Green and trucked for 31 years, hauling out of the mines in his early years and for Mowry Brothers for the last 20 years.

Survivors include his wife, Louise; two sons, Glen (Joyce) of Barre, Massachusetts, and Francis (Donna), of Monroe, Wisconsin; a daughter-in-law, Pam Alt, of Benton; two sisters, Melita Oates, of Belvidere, Illinois, and Margaret (Frank) Teuschmann, of Shullsburg; two brothers, Edwin (Anne) Alt and LeRoy (Modesta) Alt, both of Caladonia, Illinois; ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren and two on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronald; a brother, Gerald; and four sisters, Arlene Hirsch, Marion Redfearn , Hildegarde Wiegel, and Rosella Farrey.
