He worked for more than 25 years at UW-Platteville, where he was superintendent of building and grounds, retiring on Dec. 21, 2007. He enjoyed tending to his flowers, gardens, fishing, riding his Harley and cleaning "Precious" (his truck). Mike enjoyed his time and companionship with his life partner Laurel Skrede, who also died in the accident. Mike is survived by his daughter, Erin (fiance, Joe Lorenz) Udelhofen of Wauwatosa; three brothers, Rick (Carol) Udelhofen of Bloomington, Mark (Rose Key) Udelhofen of Lancaster, and Jeff (Christy) Udelhofen of Bellflower, Calif; and a sister, Carol (Steve) Lewis of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, at ST. MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, Platteville. Monsignor Charles Schluter will officiate. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post No. 42 and VFW Post No. 5274. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Michael K. Udelhofen Memorial Fund. The Melby-Bendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family.
