  • She died on 12 February 2011 at age 95 Celestine Eischen, the daughter of John and Josephine (Hecket) Corzilius was born on July 30, 1915 in Cherokee, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent near Maryhill where she attended school and graduated from Maryhill in 1928. After high school, she attended and graduated from Mount St. Mary?s in May of 1932. She worked at the AAA Office prior to her marriage. On January 18, 1944, Celestine was united in marriage to Harry Eischen at the Maryhill Visitation Catholic Church. She lived and worked in Cherokee her entire life. She was an avid card player and enjoyed quilting. On February 12, 2011, Celestine passed away at Country Side Estates in Cherokee at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry in 1980 and her daughter Ruth in 2008. She is survived by her children: Leo and Cathy Eischen of Cherokee, IA, Ralph and Barb Eischen of Minneapolis, MN, Monica Eischen and Tony Moulton of Atlanta, GA, and Mary and Scott Carnes of Cherokee, IA; seven grandchildren: Megan Eischen, Edi Eischen, Casey McKenzie, Emily Eischen, Tyler Eischen, Sarah Carnes, and Katie Carnes; two great-grandchildren: Britton McKenzie and Xavier McKenzie; as well as other relatives and friends.

Born March 26, 1920, she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret Smolen Morris, wife of the late Theodore Charles Walker, and sister of the late William Morris, Jr. Mrs. Walker was born in New York City, NY and lived in New Jersey and Vermont before retiring to South Carolina. Although she worked for many years, her primary career and joy was her family. She loved baking, and was an accomplished cake decorator. She spent many years supporting her husband's passion, barbershop singing, and was renowned for her afterglows. She also enjoyed painting and being active in her church. She leaves behind one son. Theodore Walker, Jr. and wife Aline of San Diego, CA; two daughters, Virginia (Ginny) Burgess and husband Dick of Spartanburg, and Dorothy Walker and husband Sam Aloni of Lilburn, GA; ten grandchildren, Theodore Walker, III, Anne Walker, Nancy Kaase, Caroline Walker and Morgan Walker of San Diego, CA, Meredith Gabbitas of Austin, TX, Barbara Burgess and Richard Burgess, Jr. of Spartanburg, Lindsay Finnegan and Asher Aloni of Lilburn, GA; 12 great-grandchildren (one of whom predeceased her), two great-great-grandchildren; dear friend Amelia Dickerson of Spartanburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. by the Rev. Alan Leonard. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 160024, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
