Lucy was formerly employed by Badger Ammunition Plant in Sauk, WI, as a secretary. She then was employed as a floor manager for over 30 years by JC Penny in Beloit, WI, until it closed. Lucy was a substitute teacher for Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, where all six of her children graduated. She enjoyed traveling, quilting, sewing (from doll clothes to wedding dresses), golfing, and spending time with her many friends and family. Lucy was a member of the Red Hat Society and was a Girl Scout leader. Her faith was very important to her and sustained her through difficult times. Through the years, she was an active participant in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church and school. Survivors include her five children; 15 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; eight brothers and sisters; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, beloved son Scott, one grandchild, one great grandchild, five brothers and sisters. Inurnment in St. Luke’s Catholic Cemetery, Plain, WI. Rich enjoyed bowling, socializing and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister, and two grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ALOYSIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Sauk City, at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2015. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery. A visitation will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2015, and also at the funeral home on Friday morning from 10 a.m. until 11:15 a.m.

She was preceded in death by a daughter: Nancy Phillips; son: Jeffrey; an infant son; her grandson: Nathan Kast; three brothers: Francis; Victor and Donald Lins and one sister: Evelyn Dwyer. A private family memorial service will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lime Ridge with Deacon Ron Pickar officiating. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery. Gene was born at home in the Township of Honey Creek, Sauk County, on May 28, 1937, the son of Alfred and Eva (Grosklaus) Hanusa.

In 1960, Gene was drafted into the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during the Cuban Missile crisis. On April 15, 1972, he married the love of his life, Karen Crary.

Gene was a carpet installer and was well known by many local businesses. He formed many friendships over the 56 years of installing carpet. After his retirement, he enjoyed painting and building unique craft items which he shared with family and friends. He enjoyed watching the Badgers, Brewers and NASCAR and was a serious devoted Packers fan.

Gene was well known for his Christmas light displays every holiday season. He also was proud playing the role of Santa Claus throughout the neighborhood. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Karen; two sons, Darren (Adele) Hanusa and Tim (Sharon) Meyer; four grandchildren, Addison, Erik, Kayla and Nicole; four siblings, Gladys Mazerek, Marian Bindl, Cliff (Linda) Hanusa and Sandy (Andy) Haskins; two brothers-in-law, Terry (Peggy) Crary and Jerry (Donise) Crary; close friend, Lonnie (June) Sutton; and many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Fred Bindl and Claude Mazerek. A private family service will take place at a later date. Baldwin Funeral Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
