In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mervyn "Jim" Stark Memorial Fund. Jim was born on August 25, 1930, in Platteville, the son of Fred and Lena (Hons) Stark. He graduated from Platteville High School. Jim went on to work at Burgess Battery Factory, dorm construction work at UW-Platteville, nine years as a Grant County Deputy, a truck driver with Lonsberg's and then Carry Transport until his retirement. He married his love, Ardith (Fivecoat) Hirsch, on June 21, 1986. Their love blended two families to become one. Jim and Ardith enjoyed traveling and visiting wonderful places in their RV. They especially loved choosing Yuma, Arizona, as their winter home. They made lifelong friendships with fellow transplants from different locations in the U.S. and Canada, who had also discovered the charms of Yuma. Jim enjoyed creating things from wood and anything else he could find in his abundant stash of goodies. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed taking anyone along with him and Ardith. A few years after they sold their house in Platteville, they purchased their home in Bagley, Wisconsin. They lived there and made many wonderful friends. In the summer of 2015, they moved to Platteville to be closer to family. Jim was a devoted son and brother, a loving and kind husband, a loyal friend and a proud teaching father and grandfather. Jim is survived by his wife of 30 years, Ardith; three daughters, Pam Stark, of Platteville, Terry Benn, of Hazel Green, WI, Sarah (Jay) Brant, of Platteville; five sons, Dennis (Jayne) Stark, of Platteville, Mark Hirsch, of Platteville, Jon (Margaret Ruf) Hirsch, of Hartford, WI, David (Kay) Hirsch, of Waukesha, WI, Andrew (Theresa) Hirsch, of Platteville; 17 grandchildren, Travis Benn, Christine Feehan, Korrin, Amie, and Mike Stark, Cassandra, Tristan, Anna, Emily, Christina, Steven, Brittany, and Alexandra Hirsch, Jaxin Mackinruf and Sydney Ruf-Wong, Brandon and Cameron Brant; three great-grandchildren, Zoey Benn, and Adalyn and Evelyn Meyers; his adopted "Bros" Willie Allen and Curt Myrick; plus many nieces and nephews and dear friends. Riley, parents Reginald and Zeula Oden Riley, brothers Stapleton and Clyde Riley, sister Sara Ruth Riley. He is survived by his daughters Margaret Ruth Riley of Powder Springs, Elisabeth Anne Nettles (Jimmie) of Powder Springs, son James B. Riley, JR (Glendra) of Round Rock, TX, granddaughters Sarah Ruth Parten (Ben) and Casey Noel Nettles, great granddaughter Riley Anne Parten. Ruby Pearl Goin died on 14 March 2008 at age 96 Ruby Pearl Goin, daughter of Elijia Voltier and Lillie Jane Allen Goin, was born February 12, 1912 in Dewitt County, Illinois. She departed this life Friday, March 14, 2008 in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of ninety-six years, one month and two days. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Rena Griner, Doris Goodall, Marguerite Goin, Harold Goin, Earl Emmerson Goin and Mary Jane Niemann. Survivors include three nieces, Ingrid Goin of Norway, Donna Lee Page of New Mexico, and Sunnye Espinosa of Illinois; a nephew, James Wesley Griner of Florida; great-nieces and nephews, Steve and Curt Espinosa, Donna Grosz, and Becky, Bruce and Michael Page; and a brother-in-law, Maurice C. Niemann of Camdenton, Missouri. She was raised in Dewitt County, Illinois and attended school there. After graduation, she moved to Chicago where she remained for most of her adult life. While in Chicago she worked as an auditor for Fred Harvey's restaurants. She retired to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1960. While at the lake, she worked part-time in the title office at Phillips and McElyea. She had also served as an election judge in Linn Creek. She enjoyed quiet times and the simple things of life. In her spare time, she enjoyed golf and had been a member of Lake Valley Country Club. She also enjoyed doing word puzzles. Ruby was a loving aunt and sister-in-law and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2008, in Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri. Memorials to Parkinson's Disease Foundation may be made through the funeral home.
