She was also past president of the Altar and Rosary Society and a former member of the funeral dinner committee at her church. She attended morning mass daily and enjoyed playing bridge and bingo. Ella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald MacDonald in WWII; daughter, Shirley Gordon; grandson, Tom Gordon; and eight brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Sue Reed and her husband Jim of Overland Park, KS; eleven grandchildren, David, Stephen, Gerry and John Gordon of Des Moines, Paul (Ladecia) Friel of Libertyville, IL, Mark Friel of Overland Park, KS, Lisa Friel of San Antonio, TX, Linda Nelson, Grace Gordon, Mary (Dennis) Courtney and Stephanie Gordon of Des Moines; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 27 at Grandview Park Funeral Home, where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
