He proudly served in the Iowa National Guard for many years. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and above all else he was passionate about gardening. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Anania Miller and was the father of 5 sons, Richard (Muriel) Miller of LeMars, Dennis Miller, David Miller, Charlie (Juli) Miller and Jerry (Stacie) Miller all of Des Moines. He is also survived by his brothers Jerry and Joseph Miller and his 10 grandchildren, Sonya, Brant, Justin, Richard “Rick”, Jona, Kaitlyn, Abby, Tanner, Brianna and Andrew. He was preceded in death by his parents Jerry and Marie Miller and four siblings Betty, Dale, Alan and Ray Miller.
