Karen Frances Oloff was born Aug. 22, 1941, in Le Mars, to Elmer and Esther (Winterfeld) Oloff. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, in Craig.

Karen was raised on a farm west of Craig and attended country school in Preston Township. Following the death of her father when she was 9 years old, the family moved to Craig. She continued her education in Craig and later attended and graduated from Le Mars Central High School in in 1959.

Karen was united in marriage to Ralph Klemme on Nov. 13, 1960, at St. John's Lutheran Church, in Craig.

The couple farmed in Preston Township until September 2013. Karen and Ralph moved to Le Mars in 2005.

Karen was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church, in Craig, having taught Sunday school for many years and sang with the choir for over 50 years.

After the children graduated, Karen served as Ralph's secretary as he served in the Iowa House of Representatives. Karen and Ralph enjoyed the many friends they made throughout Iowa while serving in the House of Representatives.

Karen enjoyed following and supporting her children's and grandchildren's school activities. Her greatest pride and joy in life was her children and grandchildren.

Karen will be remembered for her phenomenal cooking skills. The grandchildren loved grandma's home grown "scalloped corn" when they came to visit.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Ralph, of Le Mars; three sons: Kevin Klemme and his wife LeAnne, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and their children Sadie and Andrew, Russell Klemme and his wife Cheri, of Spencer, and their children, Michael, Matthew, Marcus and Mallory, and Kent Klemme and his wife Wendy, of Ankeny, and their children, Jacob and Colton; a brother, Dean Oloff and his wife Linda, of Craig; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her in-laws: Gerald and Susan Klemme, of Le Mars, Geraldine and Bob Brown, of Holestein, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Esther (Winterfeld) Oloff.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at St. John's Lutheran Church, in Craig, with the Rev. Lil Johnston officiating. Interment will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, in Craig. Visitation with the family present will be after 4 p.m. today (Friday) at the Carlsen Funeral Home, in Le Mars, followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church of Craig Endowment Fund, Floyd Valley Hospital Foundation, or Hospice of Siouxland.
