He married Madonna Schroeder of Kieler, WI on July 15, 1953. They were married for 55 years and raised 7 children. Truman served in the US Navy Reserves during the Korean War Conflict. He farmed for many years before becoming a semi-truck driver. He drove from coast to coast, earning the ‘Million Mile Safe Driving’ award. Truman was a storyteller who entertained everyone who had time to listen. He had a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed singing, especially the old cowboy ballads. He will be remembered by many for the bluebird houses he built and gave away to anyone willing to put them up in their yards. He was an avid NBA fan and especially enjoyed watching the Chicago Bulls. Above all, Truman loved spending time with his grandchildren, creating personal experiences and memories with each and every one of them. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Truman is survived by his 7 children: Sandra (Bob) Brownell of Dubuque, IA, Arthur Bowden of Cuba City, WI, Linda (Jim) Jegerlehner of Dubuque, IA, Robert (Belinda) Bowden of Lakewood, WA, Margaret (Gregg) Kelly of Cuba City, WI, James (Melody) Bowden of Dubuque, IA and William (Kelly) Bowden of Baraboo, WI; 2 sisters: Margaret Vail and Mary Bowden; 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; along with nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Madonna (February 22, 2009) and 6 brothers: John, Warren, Fred, Lawrence, Phillip and Lloyd, as well as many sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law. |

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish where she was a lifelong member of the church choir. She loved a good game of euchre and loved nothing more than when her kids & grandkids would fill the house; the laughter shared was music to her ears. Rita Jane enjoyed vacationing in the Black Hills & Yellowstone, but her most cherished vacations were spent with her family and friends in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. She also enjoyed baking and cooking for her family, a tradition she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. He worked at the Dubuque Packing Company for 25 years and then at Midwest Motorsports in Kieler, WI for almost 25 years until he retired at the age of 79. Jack enjoyed helping people, telling jokes, traditional country music, Johnny Cash, vacationing in the Black Hills, Yellowstone & the Northwoods of Wisconsin and was a founding member of the Moonshiner’s Snowmobile Club in Kieler, WI. But most of all, Jack enjoyed time spent with his family, grandchildren and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Wackershauser, age 84, of Prairie du Chien, formerly of Lancaster, passed away at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, on Thursday evening, January 22, 2009, after a very short battle with pneumonia and acute leukemia. Virgil was born September 12, 1924, to Henry & Lillian (Eggers) Wackershauser. Virgil grew up near Dickeyville (Big Patch/Georgetown area). He was the middle child and had one sister and 4 brothers. He was proud of the fact that he graduated from eight grades in six years, as he got to skip a couple grades in school. On Jan. 11, 1945, he was united in marriage with Eunice Place in Platteville. She preceded him in death on February 19, 1997. Virgil & Eunice began their married life on a small farm near Dickeyville, but moved shortly thereafter to the current family farm near Lancaster/Stitzer area, where they raised a son and three daughters. In 1975, they retired from the farm and bought a home in Lancaster. In 2003, Virgil moved to Prairie du Chien. He married Violet Koecke on July 15, 2003, in Prairie du Chien. They currently reside there. During his farming days, Virgil managed to work at a variety of jobs off the farm as well. Over those many years, he hauled cattle and milk for his brother, hauled milk at the Livingston Creamery, worked at a feed mill in Belmont, fertilizer plant & Wasco in Stitzer, plowed snow & highway work for the Grant Co. Highway Dept., read meters for REA, delivered the Shopping News, was a carpenter, and was once the town chairman for Liberty Township and farming for many years. He enjoyed helping others with remodeling or building projects, doing yard work and gardening, or any other handyman jobs that came along. Virgil enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, bus trips to the casinos, watching basketball and baseball games, attending Amish sales, and fishing with his buddies. He enjoyed talking and cracking jokes to anyone he knew, even making his grandchildren giggle. With his busy travels in life, he always had plenty of time set aside for family and friends. He truly adored his children and grandchildren! He was a member of the Bagley Methodist Church. Virgil is survived by his wife of five years, Violet of Prairie du Chien, one son: Carson (Mary) of Lancaster; three daughters: Patty (Larry) Reed, Platteville; Sandy (Rich) Soles, Mt. Hope; Lou Ann (Jim) Blackburn, Bagley. Also surviving are grandchildren: Brian (Kristi), Laura, and Jennifer Wackershauser; Chris (Brenda) Reed and Candace (Bill) Reid; Hillary (Marty Bement) Soles, Tanisha Soles, and Justin (Jessi) Soles; Travis (Anne) Blackburn and Lacy (Jesse) Chapiewsky. Great Grandchildren surviving are John & Katie Wackershauser, Morgan & Taylor Reid, Hanna & Emma Reed, Carter & Addison Blackburn, and Cooper & Ty Chapiewsky. Virgil is survived by four brothers: Wilfred Bud, Embert, Henry Joe, and Louis and numerous nieces & nephews, brother- & sister-in-laws. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eunice, his parents-Henry & Lillian, his sister, Hiltrude Crapp, and several in-laws. Funeral services were held on Monday, January 26, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster with Pastor Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Visitation was from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services on Monday. Cremation followed, with burial at the Hillside Cemetery at a later date. |

"Wack" Wackershauser, age 88, of Glen Haven, died on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in rural Lancaster surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with leukemia. He was born on July 1, 1922, in Potosi, the son of Henry and Lillian (Eggers) Wackershauser. Embert served his country during World War II stationed in Germany. On May 7, 1946, he was united in marriage to Arlene M. Adrian at St. Charles Parsonage in Cassville. Embert was a carpenter for a period of time at Badger Roofing Company in Platteville. Together they operated Breeze Inn in Cassville. In 1951, they owned and operated Wackershausers Tavern in Glen Haven, and in 1965, they built Wacks Bar. Embert was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. As family and friends would tell you, if he could not be found behind the bar, you would find him somewhere on the Mississippi River. Embert was a dedicated member of the Glen Haven Fire Department where he served as assistant chief. He was a member of the Abraham Hickok Wetmore American Legion Post No. 148 of Bloomington and the VFW Post No. 7080 of Cassville. Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-five years, Arlene Wackershauser, Glen Haven; his children: Bette Ann (Jerry) Hoffman, Cassville; Connie (John) Horkheimer, Bloomington; Bruce (Bonnie Dailey) Wackershauser, Glen Haven; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two brothers: Henry (Barbara) Wackershauser, Prairie du Chien; Louis (Gloria) Wackershauser, Beloit; sister-in-law, Violet Wackershauser, Prairie du Chien; many nieces and nephews. Embert was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Hiltrude Crapp; two brothers: Wilfred Bud and Virgil Wackershauser. Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Glen Haven. Burial with military honors was in Charlotte Cemetery, Glen Haven Township. Family and friends called on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, an Embert F. Wackershauser Memorial Fund has been established. He enjoyed growing up in Bear Valley, WI helping his parents farm. When the work was done they would sit under the shady apple tree sipping on a cold one. Tom attended school at Ithaca, Sauk Prairie and River Valley. He was a jack of all trades, our fix it man. His first job was at Oakwood Fruit Farm picking apples. He also worked at Mid-west Silo, Willy’s Wheel Works in Lone Rock, West Belt Auto in Madison, 2 Guys and a Hammer and Dederich’s Roofing and Remodeling in Lone Rock. Tom married Lori Smalley on March 12, 1983 and they celebrated 34 years together. Survivors include his wife, Lori Dederich of Spring Green, 2 children, Tommy (Erica) Dederich, Amanda (Demitrius) Boyd, 3 grandchildren and 1 on the way, Ayvionna Boyd, Austin, Bryce and Sofia Dederich, 6 siblings, Carol Sorenson, Don (Joy) Hamburg, Jim Hamburg, Peggy (Pat) Ringelstetter, Terry (Eileen) Hamburg, Mary Lou (Donny) Wittmann, many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends. Tom loved spending time with family and friends hanging out in the garage listening to country music, watching the Green Bay Packers, camping, fishing, hunting, boating, four wheeling and road trips. In honor of Tom the family ask that you do an act of kindness as he would have done. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Betty and a sister, Joanne McCluskey. He was born on August 10, 1935 the son of William and Nonie (McCluskey) Ruppert in Dodgeville, WI. He served in the United States Army from October 19, 1954 –October 2, 1956. Survivors include his children, Joan Norton, Kathy (Rick) Bidlingmaier, Laureen Ruppert, Karen Ruppert, Jill (Keith) Wollersheim and Lynette Ruppert; grandchildren Erinn Glasgow, Kyle and Joshua Ruppert, Ben and Jon Mesler, Brooke Bidlingmaier, Mason, Isaac and Noah Wollersheim; great-grandchildren Ella Glasgow and Jameson Ruppert, and his sister Ellen (Jim) Kirch and brother Mike Ruppert and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Douglas Ruppert, sisters Betty Smith and Judy Evans, and a brother Bob Ruppert. Bill’s love for his family and friends along with his faith is what he cherished most. Bill always had a story to share to anyone who would listen. Bill had a love of farming, as he was able to farm his own farm in the early years, and had an opportunity to have a lifelong career with Marshall Erdman and Associates. Bill was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the Spring Green American Legion Post #253 and the Ewing-Olson Arena VFW Post #9336. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Spring Green. Fr. John Silva will officiate with burial in the church cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Spring Green American Legion Post #253 and Ewing-Olson Arena VFW Post #9336. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 from 4:00P.M.-7:00P.M. and also on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 from 9:30A.M. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Greenway Terrace, St. Mary’s Hospital for their compassionate and loving care. The Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. |

He was preceded in death by his parents; and good friends Richard, Patricia, and Jim Hanke. A private family service was held on Thursday, August 3, 2017, with burial in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery where military graveside rites were conducted by the Spring Green American Legion Post #253. The Richardson-Stafford Funeral home is assisting the family with the arrangements. |

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph I. and Mary Eulalia Fargen, 2 sisters, Patricia and Kathleen Fargen, and her husband, William Garrison. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Spring Green. Fr.
